Yes, this is one of India's traditional dances called Garba. This is from the state of Gujarat. There are ~205 traditional / folk dances in India across the 28 states and 8 union territories of India.
Holi is another festival celebrated in India. People smear coloured powder on each other to welcome the spring and harvest season. Colours have a special significance in the Indian culture and traditions. You will see this in the colourful clothes that Indians wear as well as pooja thaalis (trays of worship), which, amongst others, contain the following:
Haldi - yellow turmeric powder, which is antiseptic (medicinal); it signifies removing negative energy.
Kumkum - the red colour of kumkum is associated with fertility, blood and life. Red is a very shubh, sumangal - auspicious and holy colour.

It's basically a story of forbidden love, where the guy (Ram) and girl (Leela) are from rival families. Ram goes into Leela's family holi celebration to woo her and that's when this song happens. Because of all the color no one recognizes Ram initially but towards the end Leela's brother spots him dancing with his sister and calls his men to beat him up. That's when Ram's friends grab him and pull him outta there while he waves one last goodbye to her.
Fun fact: The actors playing Ram and Leela started dating and fell in love on the sets of this movie and is now Mr. & Mrs.!

Dancing at weddings seems to be more a Punjabi thing. Have seen it at Punjabi weddings. I've been to Gujarati and Bengali weddings, didn't see any dancing there. Most of the Garba dancing in Gujarat is performed during Navratri. Also, weddings in Maharashtra don't have a lot of dancing at the wedding. Probably true in the Southern state of Tamil Nadu as well. Don't think there is Bharat Natyam at the wedding, the dance seems to be reserved for performances. My two cents.
As an aside, great rendition of If I Were a Boy.

The traditional dance is something that almost all Indians learn as kids, either with training or for fun. The colored powders are sprayed on each other to celebrate the spring festival called Holi. Ranveer and Deepika met while shooting this movie and got married in 2018.

In India we have several festivals and we have several dance forms. Each state have their own festival and dance forms and some festivals are commonly celebrated all over the country.
Like in this video they are celebrating 'Holi' the festival of colours and love an ancient Indian festival. It is celebrated during spring. It signifies the victory of good over evil. We apply colours to each other and drink a local intoxicating drink called 'Bhang' which is made of raw Mariwana leaves or seeds and milk and lots of different kinds of sweets and savoury.

This dance is called Garba and its traditional dance of Gujarat state and every gujarati all around the corner knows to dance to garba. But this is holy dance which is celebrated for praying to goddess Ambe (Ambe Maa). This traditional festival goes for 9 straight nights.
Also the festival they played is Holi which is called festival of colors which is celebrated all over India. They have combined garba and Holi, both festivals.
I am a pure gujarati by the way.
And i am proud of our tradition. ✌️

Full of bright color dresses and clapping steps.Me being a gujarathi we learn this from childhood.Every state here has their unique kind of dance. Deepika actress and Ranveer actor they look awsm as a couple. In real life also they are husband wife. Was really nice watching you guys noticing small small things.. and the color on lips which was bothering you gals wouldnt go till end as its Sanjay Leela Bansali movie.. he is perfectionist in details..haha.. so it will be till end..

The colors are because of the celebration of a festival named Holi. The dance is called gurba, a dance form of Gujarat and Rajasthan mostly. Most people belonging to those states know how to dance for this. We have alot of festivals so yes this dance is done on many occasions including family functions. And because of how easy and fun the dance form is alot of people from other states within India also know the dance though we are not very good at it, we try.
