Have you ever tried the Tesla Smartphone key? With that you would know what Smart is missing here. The sense of the digital key and keyless usage is that you have the phone in your pocket and the car opens by pulling the door handle and starts if your mobile phone with digital key is in the car. NOBODY likes to pull out his phone to activate the key before entering the car, and this only with an existing internet connection. Any plans to improve this poorly implemented feature in the near future? P.S.: I ordered a #1 because I really like the car and still hope you will do some major software improvements in the near future.

Also agree. Feature #1 to be prioritised by the software development team should be enabling proximity based security as an option. Having the smart phone or smart watch within 2-3 metres should be enough to lock or unlock, without having to get your phone out of your pants, pocket or bag.

From my initial research of the Smart EV, it certainly looks like there were many smart and intuitive design decisions and I hope this trend continues.
Ok Smart. Ist is still Beta!!! how long will in take to fix the main problem with the App? The App opens only with an active online connection. In you are in a parking area/building with no data connection the App Shows a yellow screen and nothing else. Same in areas without a connection. This Problem exists since more than one year!
I was so disappointed to be told this was not available in the UK only after I purchased and collected the Car , made a full complaint and told tough, simply not acceptable, we wanted it as a fleet vehicle and a digital key is perfect for that operation, so frustrated at Smarts support for the UK it has been dismal, brand new the car would not charge an iphone or close the passenger door handle, now they are working but parts took over 8 weeks from China 0/10 for smart and over a week to install and update to get connection services working properly for the first time

@@smart Back in December it was NOT clear that it would not be available in the UK, otherwise I would NOT have made the purchase , Volvo have recently launched their version with the same platform as the Smart and they do offer the digital key for the UK, Smart should lead by example and sort this misleading information out and offer the key urgently to those that need it
This definitely needs a complete workover. Digital key, as it is now, is almost unusable and that`s a shame. You can simply not rely on it. Drive your car into a garage and you are basically done and locked out. This has to work via NFC, not blue tooth and it has to work without internet connection. Please please fix this asap Smart or if you can`t , at least offer another ultra mini key besides the "Disk", which is huge.

Today this feature is not safe and not convenient. The real digital key must lock and unlock the car with proximity.

I wished you'd get around to activating the digital key in the UK. It'd save us from faking our location in the car and app to make it work.
