@@bear_trap107 just because Kravens hunt is finished, does not mean that their hunts are. they didn't just follow kraven because he wanted a great final hunt, they followed him because they want a great hunt too, and that is exactly what they are getting.
@@LeCryx Yea I think the dialogue in game was supposed to convey that as well, anytime you're stealthing a hunter section in the story, it's very apparent that the only reason the hunters follow Kraven is because he's the strongest of them all, but secretly they all want to be just like him, they're just not there yet. No reason for the hunter organization to disappear just because the strongest got dethroned.
it was truly Kraven's Last Hunt if you've never read that story or seen a video about it, my god you need to. the dude is insane in the single greatest way possible. that story single handedly made Kraven my favorite spiderman villain (other than mobius but that's for a different reason)

I gotta say, this game has done wonders for Kraven's Spidey villain street cred. The dude has always been a mostly B-list Spidey villain, never really a significant threat. Yet in this game he just casually offs half the sinister six, mortally wounds one spider-man while capturing another, and finally dies in a one on one duel to the death with arguably the most threatening and well-established Spidey villain of all time Venom. Dude's really moved up in the world.
I *LOVE* that Kraven was given attention. He's always been one of my favorite villains for Spidey, and I wanted him to be a villain so bad. Still not sold on the movie, though...
How many did he gank? Scorpion, vulture, shocker I know of. Did he get electro as well? What about rhino?? And yeah. Kraven really was a B-lister, UNTIL the original “Last Hunt” comic run. And suddenly he was horrifying. And this game (justifiably) draws from that arc heavily. Still wish we got spidey clawing out of a grave tho.
I'm not a huge superhero fan but props to Insomniac for not shying away from how dark the comics can get by actually allowing Venom to kill people and actually show him biting off Kravens head.

I’m with you on that as well, and I’m a huge comic book fan. It’s one of those things I’ve never understood about most people when they say “comics are for kids” lol if they only knew how many comics there are that are DEFINITELY not for kids. There are many dark and mature stories out there that would definitely do incredible in live action as long as they’re written correctly.
I love how they redeemed Martin in this game. You can tell that he is deeply sorry for what he did to Miles' dad and he genuinely wants to be better. He understands why a small part of Pete wants him dead because of what he did to May. It shows that deep down in Mr Negatives mind, the real Martin has always been there, and he still loves his city. And even though Miles wouldn't forgive him, he still accepts his fate to save Peter because its the right thing to do. Its wonderful character development
I love how this game is treating ALL of its supervillains. It's already well-established that Spider-Man has an excellent rogue's gallery, but this is taking character arcs to another level. As a writer, I'm definitely paying attention.
@@jennycarmichael520 In the first game, although he did care for May and the people at FEAST, he didn’t give a s*** about killing innocent people in his terrorist attacks. To him, all that mattered was his revenge and the agony of Norman. It was only until he was arrested and had time to reflect were he started feeling remorse. Him learning of Miles’ identity and his connection to officer Davis was what solidified his desire to atone for his sins.

Antivenom was definitely the coolest way to keep the symbiote's powers for Pete, I also love the fact that the logic is that it's Negative Venom. Writers are probably very proud right now
One thing that wasn't clear though, does Peter still have the Anti-Venom power after the ending? Seems like destroying the rock kills anything symbiote related. Granted, Peter doesn't just have a simple symbiote anymore but something much more. Then there's also Carnage's symbiote still out there. Wonder if he was affected too.

That specific thing is actually called The Worf Effect. It's a literary technique/trope named after the character Worf from Star Trek. It establishes the danger of a new villain (Venom) by having them immediately defeat one of the strongest characters (Kravin, or Worf in Star Trek's case).
That's what makes this introduction to Venom so perfect. Not only do you get to feel how powerful he is, he is the one who finally finishes off the previous villain, who was already threatening enough. During that section, you're on a power trip. You're excited. And then it ends and you're like "Oh shit.. I have to FIGHT that eventually." and it serves to make him so much more terrifying.
That moment of "I cant forgive you, but I cant carry on hating you" is SO GOOD. Such wonderful character work, no one in the game betrays their character arcs. They just naturally react to the changes. Miles gets too many of the hero moments in this game imo compared to pete, but they all land so well.

I mean, I don't know for sure if they had it planned out for three games from day 0 of development, sometimes these decisions are a bit improvised, but he's just a cool villain for the kind of personal story a Spider-Man game should have. It's basically about intrusive thoughts and bitterness and therapy and stuff, and so is the Symbiote as well. Them weaving the two villains together to form a hero was definitely strong writing.
@@mityakiselev Anti venom is created in the same way in the comics, mr negatives powers affecting the symbiote. So they definitely had it in mind when they decided on symbiotes for the sequel
i'm so glad they let venom bite someone's head off. i was worried because they weren't being too graphic with the game, and i thought that venom's classic head bite would be lost, but i am so glad they let him do it, kraven's willingness to die only to an equal is badass and the line "you will be my final hunt and I shall be your first" is so sick. that fight and the end of kraven is, in my opinion, one of the greatest moments in all of gaming history.
The thing I like on top of that is how much of a threat Kraven was shown to be throughout the game, killing supervillains left and right and being a rival to Peter even in the symbiote. Then Venom himself comes along and straight up ruins him. Really shows how scary Venom is as a new villain compared to the rest of the gallery so far.
@matthewscorner2990 it's also really perfect since it shows venom is the exact thing kraven was looking for. As venom u have a counter to every single attack he does, venom is kravens perfect counter, and the one thing that could beat him. Really well written
As much as I agree, I think calling it a gaming moment is slightly inaccurate, more of a "superhero" or "comic" moment purely because this story beat could be replicated in comics or movies, the fact it's a game just adds to the experience by miles

Honestly the fact that you usually don’t see blood in these games just makes the times you do that much more impactful. Venom bites Kraven’s fucking head off and there’s a whole pool of blood, like I was not expecting that shit

@NitroNinja324 honestly if kraven became venom, he would be unstoppable. Harry's venom is already twice as strong and Peter and miles, and kraven was already stronger than Peter to begin with. So with venom, he'd be stupidly broken.

Symbiotes don't exactly tell lies, they just go to the very bottom of your brain to find your insecurities, all the negative emotions they could use. It was why Spiderman was such a good host for venom, deep under all the nerd look, he's a frustrated man, losing his aunt and uncle, people who raised him, not to mention he blames himself for his death. And Harry, while Venom wasn't that strong for him before, after Pete took it, he spiralled back into his sick state. I don't know how it feels, but getting the same disease after you got cured must really suck, especially since he was in that tabk for so long, and apparently concious. Venom now sees the new flame in Harry, and went to him, and with a dream to heal the world, he gives out a way to "heal the world" himself. And what better cure to give, than the one that cured him. And even if not for hatred, there is still that obsession with Spiderman. And Venom tugs on the insecurities Harry had with him, and Miles too.
Jack, if I remember correctly, you can turn off the lowered frame-rate for the Spiderverse outfits in the settings menu. That way, you can just enjoy the suit.
man has definitely beat the game like last week by now, maybe it was out by the time of the last episode that'll come out but literally for all of these he will never have been able to read any comments 😅
You can toggle the frame rate drop feature for the suits in the options menu I'm pretty sure. So you can still use the cool suits like that Nicholas Cage one without getting distracted by the animation.

Something I just noticed is that each symbiote enemy type is the same color as one of the life foundation symbiotes. The grey ones are riot, the pink ones are agony, the yellow ones are phage, and the green ones are lasher.
@@kevincronk7981 Organization that wanted to use symbiotes for soldiers, they tortured a symbiote and forced it to asexually reproduce creating the various symbiotes that led to the formation of the Hybrid symbiote. The Hybrid symbiote then bonded to Scott Washington, a guard, there and the Life Foundation pretty much screwed up after that point.
A little earlier in the game Kraven explained how he wanted to die, laying in a field surrounded by fire as his ancestors tears fell on him (the rain) while being eaten by the one who finally beat him. *16:59* When Venom defeats him, he gets that exact death except the field is the screen. Another thing is that Kraven actually wins in the end. He achieved his one and only goal, to have a proper death being defeated by a worthy Prey. They did Kraven so well in this game.
And this is why venom is eternally in my top 3 favorite villans EVER. This section gave me childhood nostalgia of the ultimate spiderman game and the venom missions.
I’m glad you’ve commented on it. Some of the finishers and the attacks from Venom were so reminiscent of that game and I love that. Ultimate Spider-Man is definitely one of my favorite Spider-Man games.
Same. You can see in the section of them going through Peter's mind how reality set in for him and he realized how badly he hurt people. You can feel how sorry he is in his lines.
I do like how they tie in mr negative's power to how the anti venom suit is acquired. In the comics. After Eddie Brock is seperated from the venom symbiote. He gets himself a job at feast to try and redeem himself of the things he did as venom. At one point, Martin touches Eddie and his negative powers cause the traces of the symbiote still in Eddie's body to merge with his white blood cells. And when Scorpion (at the time the new venom) senses Eddie in feast and the symbiote tries to rebond with him. The anti venom symbiote emerges. Creating Anti Venom.
I love it, how they portray the symbiote like a drug in this game, you get a taste of it as Spider-man Symbiote Suit, when it comes off you miss it. Then you get another taste with Harry Venom but realize all that addictive power is scary and get a recommended dose of Spider-man AntiVenom suit, that feels good in a healthy way.
@@Frodofraggins27 I remember the first mission as Venom. Your first objective was to eat a Child and at the end you got to beat up Wolverine. Absolutely amazing setup for the Beast that is Venom.
I absolutely LOVE that it's not _just_ Venom and/or, in the off chance that he appears in the game, Carnage - Scream is a pretty obscure character all things considered, so it's nice to show one of the lesser symbiotes some love. Plus, I cannot describe the absolute joy I felt when they brought the Anti-Venom into the story. As soon as Li mentioned giving Peter his powers, my brain started getting the happy juices lol
I love how the enemy types are based on Lasher, Phage, Agony, and Riot. Lasher's lookalike is a lunging enemy, Phage's lookalike is a frenzied enemy, Agony's lookalike is a ranged enemy, and Riot's lookalike is a brute.
The part where li is about to overload the symbiote is intense. "I guess we'll find out" He doesn't want to live or die, its disregard for his own life
Fair take, but I actually got that as Martin finally finding something that is more important that his life/revenge, realizing that saving Peter's (Spider-Man's) life at least partially atones for his sins.
At 58:18 you just hear Norman’s voice breaking and I love that from a narrative standpoint. They really fleshed his character out alot since the first game and I love it
The way this game builds up it’s enemies are so good, Peter literally has to not only invent a new gadget but literally gain the opposite power of venom’s symbiote just to go toe to toe with venoms creations. Imagine being a civilian on the streets trying to fight these things the fact that it couldn’t take any damage from pretty much anything would just make the situation feel so hopeless
That dream dimension sequence was utterly beautiful writing, beautiful composition, and brought tears to my eyes. It gave the Li-Miles arc a beautiful climax and created one of my favorite characters in all of spider-man. It also just completely and totally portrayed the lingering grief peter has. It was really just a beautiful, beautiful sequence.
i love how they straight up made me think that id have to fight venom right then and there with the camera panning out at 3:14 then norman pulled up at the last second, straight up juked me🤣
* Norman literally seeing Spider-Man and having his entire fatherhood flash before his eyes * I wouldn't be surprised if they have a cut part of that scene where it does a cool panning shot behind Norman to block the shot and have Venom be replaced by kid Harry
It's actually how it happens in the comics. Mr. Negative's power effected Eddie and Venom and they became Anti-Venom, a special symbiote able to cure diseases and destroy other symbiotes. Though still a more monstrous form than Peter's suit here. It even has the same orange underglow effect.
It's actually what happened to Eddie brock in the comics as well but anti venom was as big as venom is. It's literally an anti symbiote that can kill other symbiotes.
Also, the powers that Miles gets are the color blue which is the opposite of the color orange (if you look at a color wheel you see they are opposite from eachother).

The suites that have that frame rate animation like the Spiderman Noir suit can be turned off too in the visual settings although it keeps turning itself back on automatically if you swap back to those type of suits
Well that’s kind of annoying. I enjoyed the last game, where you could apply it as a mod (as well as the fighting effects!! Those were so cool :D ), although that did take away from the gameplay so I’m not surprised they changed it (but they didn’t make the setting useful so like…. Huh??)
The little details make me realise how much love was put into the game. In the Scream scene, the camera shows the "You scream" on the ice cream truck. In the Venom scene, the stage said 'Fresh start'. I'm sure there's lots of other bits I missed but... yeah.
I really like how Kraven doesn't shy away from using the Spider-Mens weakness. Using the bell sound on Peter and using a hunter disguise as civilian to inject drug into Miles, truly a hunter.

The fact the writers pulled so many different spiderman storylines to make this game, well, it works. It works for THIS universe of course, and I like what they've done with it.
it's cool that this version of Venom isn't weak to fire just the high frequency of sounds so that they can make him do the cool walking through fire thing. it also makes me think of the lore of this version of the symbiotes it was the sound of the hammer forging the sword that tormented them but it was the flame that kept them strong.
Something Jack has highlighted in this series that I never really thought about, is how such big set pieces and action sequences can realistically be delivered only through the video game medium at this point in time. Due to many reasons like budget, technology etc., movies cant give you the same level of action as games have the potential to, which I find very interesting from a story telling perspective. You could say its one of the strengths of the medium.
I’m really enjoying the whole concept of villains reformed like how tombstone turned into a fairground mechanic like that’s so wholesome. Really shows how Pete genuinely wants the best life for those who oppose him. The dynamic between Miles and Li is really cool
i know sean loves it but everytime i see miles in that suit i just think of spiderverse pete saying "spiderman doesnt wear capes" and i just cant get over it
Insomniac must've been heavily inspired by Ultimate and Web of Shadows and I love it. My two favorite Spidey games wrapped into one. If just in chunks.
yea i loved the Web of shadows from the console and DS and Ultimate was hated due to it canceling Spectacular spiderman but tbh that show had alot of good things such as the other spiderverses and how Harry was the Anit-Venom and MJ was the Carage Queen and Agent Venom of Flash and there is so much more but YK the Idea

Pro tip for anyone struggling with the green symbiotes like Seán, they get taken out instantly if you web them up. They don't even have to stick to anything, just need to be webbed. Makes the ricochet web gadget super handy in symbiote fights. The crawling pink things that explode can also be forced to explode if you web them up
The look in Kraven's eyes of absolute animalistic delight when he first laid eyes on venom vs the look in his eyes filled with immense human emotions when he last laid eyes on venom. What a beautiful detail to animate.
Kraven: Enjoying his “hunt” against Venom. Venom: I am literally beating the living crap out of you and you are not even able to inflict a single piece of damage on me even with a shield and dagger.
That back breaker move is a call back to the 2005 Ultimate Spider-Man. It was open world Spider-Man game that was pretty well excepted and you got to play as Venom. It was also one of my favorites. One of his moves was to snap peoples backs like a twig. I was constantly reminded of that game watching the opening Venom scene here and was hoping to see something call back to it. When he did the back breaker I almost fell out of my chair.
Kraven’s death was NUTS. They did *not* hold back, and it was amazing. I did not expect them to show his head being swallowed, and his necklace dropping down with blood. Also the moment with Harry second guessing what he did and then Venom coercing him was perfect.
A lot of boss battles have you up against an equal or overcoming an overwhelming force. But the the battle of Kraven vs Venom... Kraven was outmatched and I can feel that just watching. Not often that boss battles give that kind of perspective and I am all for it. I love being the boss for a change.
it's so funny yet infuriating how jack always ignores at least 2 on-screen notifiers telling him he's being spotted and then is surprised when the hunters proceed to alert each other
"assume you saw kravens dead?" that was crazy. the music change? the way pete pauses and is so taken aback he forgets to check on the victims? wow. WOW.
Loving everything symbiote for this game so far, the number of them is crazy! But my god, Martin Li saying "If you help someone, you help everyone." That was such a beautifully fantastic line, love his character. Spoilers!! Him losing his powers as a side effect, finally being able to live normally, being able to let go of all his vengeance/revenge, god, it all made thst line so much better, the whole game with martin li slowly reforming as a SIDE BAR is insane to have go on with the amazing symbiote situation in the game.
If you don’t like the changed frame rate for the spider verse suits, you can change it in suit settings or something, it said that when you first equipped Miles’ spiderverse suit for the first time.

Eddie goes from a signature and possible garbage man in the first game to a full fledged Deus Ex Machina in the second. Coming out of nowhere in the third act XD.

And even though Miles wouldn't forgive him, he still accepts his fate to save Peter because its the right thing to do. Its wonderful character development
I love how this game is treating ALL of its supervillains. It's already well-established that Spider-Man has an excellent rogue's gallery, but this is taking character arcs to another level. As a writer, I'm definitely paying attention.

To him, all that mattered was his revenge and the agony of Norman. It was only until he was arrested and had time to reflect were he started feeling remorse. Him learning of Miles’ identity and his connection to officer Davis was what solidified his desire to atone for his sins.

Antivenom was definitely the coolest way to keep the symbiote's powers for Pete, I also love the fact that the logic is that it's Negative Venom. Writers are probably very proud right now
in the comics, When mr negative touches Eddie Brock when he has venom in him, he becomes anti-venom. He has the power to heal deseases.

One thing that wasn't clear though, does Peter still have the Anti-Venom power after the ending? Seems like destroying the rock kills anything symbiote related. Granted, Peter doesn't just have a simple symbiote anymore but something much more. Then there's also Carnage's symbiote still out there. Wonder if he was affected too.

That specific thing is actually called The Worf Effect. It's a literary technique/trope named after the character Worf from Star Trek. It establishes the danger of a new villain (Venom) by having them immediately defeat one of the strongest characters (Kravin, or Worf in Star Trek's case).
That's what makes this introduction to Venom so perfect. Not only do you get to feel how powerful he is, he is the one who finally finishes off the previous villain, who was already threatening enough. During that section, you're on a power trip. You're excited. And then it ends and you're like "Oh shit.. I have to FIGHT that eventually." and it serves to make him so much more terrifying.

That moment of "I cant forgive you, but I cant carry on hating you" is SO GOOD. Such wonderful character work, no one in the game betrays their character arcs. They just naturally react to the changes. Miles gets too many of the hero moments in this game imo compared to pete, but they all land so well.
We might even see a small reverse of that in SM3 if they do a Miles-Carnage arc

I mean, I don't know for sure if they had it planned out for three games from day 0 of development, sometimes these decisions are a bit improvised, but he's just a cool villain for the kind of personal story a Spider-Man game should have. It's basically about intrusive thoughts and bitterness and therapy and stuff, and so is the Symbiote as well. Them weaving the two villains together to form a hero was definitely strong writing.
@@mityakiselev Anti venom is created in the same way in the comics, mr negatives powers affecting the symbiote. So they definitely had it in mind when they decided on symbiotes for the sequel

i'm so glad they let venom bite someone's head off. i was worried because they weren't being too graphic with the game, and i thought that venom's classic head bite would be lost, but i am so glad they let him do it, kraven's willingness to die only to an equal is badass and the line "you will be my final hunt and I shall be your first" is so sick. that fight and the end of kraven is, in my opinion, one of the greatest moments in all of gaming history.
The thing I like on top of that is how much of a threat Kraven was shown to be throughout the game, killing supervillains left and right and being a rival to Peter even in the symbiote. Then Venom himself comes along and straight up ruins him. Really shows how scary Venom is as a new villain compared to the rest of the gallery so far.

As much as I agree, I think calling it a gaming moment is slightly inaccurate, more of a "superhero" or "comic" moment purely because this story beat could be replicated in comics or movies, the fact it's a game just adds to the experience by miles

God, this is not just the best Spider-Man *game*. This is some of the best Spider-Man PERIOD. I had chills just WATCHING Venom kill Kraven.

Symbiotes don't exactly tell lies, they just go to the very bottom of your brain to find your insecurities, all the negative emotions they could use.
It was why Spiderman was such a good host for venom, deep under all the nerd look, he's a frustrated man, losing his aunt and uncle, people who raised him, not to mention he blames himself for his death.
And Harry, while Venom wasn't that strong for him before, after Pete took it, he spiralled back into his sick state.
I don't know how it feels, but getting the same disease after you got cured must really suck, especially since he was in that tabk for so long, and apparently concious.
Venom now sees the new flame in Harry, and went to him, and with a dream to heal the world, he gives out a way to "heal the world" himself.
And what better cure to give, than the one that cured him.
And even if not for hatred, there is still that obsession with Spiderman. And Venom tugs on the insecurities Harry had with him, and Miles too.
That's kind of the point. The symbiotes latch onto their hosts' darkest thoughts to control them.

Jack, if I remember correctly, you can turn off the lowered frame-rate for the Spiderverse outfits in the settings menu. That way, you can just enjoy the suit.

You can toggle the frame rate drop feature for the suits in the options menu I'm pretty sure. So you can still use the cool suits like that Nicholas Cage one without getting distracted by the animation.

Something I just noticed is that each symbiote enemy type is the same color as one of the life foundation symbiotes. The grey ones are riot, the pink ones are agony, the yellow ones are phage, and the green ones are lasher.

@@kevincronk7981 Organization that wanted to use symbiotes for soldiers, they tortured a symbiote and forced it to asexually reproduce creating the various symbiotes that led to the formation of the Hybrid symbiote. The Hybrid symbiote then bonded to Scott Washington, a guard, there and the Life Foundation pretty much screwed up after that point.
Ehh agony supposed to be purple but in game they do look purple so yeah
And something I've noticed is that their heads have a symbol of Knull, the god of symbiotes.

A little earlier in the game Kraven explained how he wanted to die, laying in a field surrounded by fire as his ancestors tears fell on him (the rain) while being eaten by the one who finally beat him. *16:59* When Venom defeats him, he gets that exact death except the field is the screen.
Another thing is that Kraven actually wins in the end. He achieved his one and only goal, to have a proper death being defeated by a worthy Prey. They did Kraven so well in this game.
The screen that he died on was a picture of a field, and the screen right next to them was a video of fire. The fire is at 17:20
And this is why venom is eternally in my top 3 favorite villans EVER. This section gave me childhood nostalgia of the ultimate spiderman game and the venom missions.
He and carnage are my favorite Spider-Man villains.
I’m glad you’ve commented on it. Some of the finishers and the attacks from Venom were so reminiscent of that game and I love that. Ultimate Spider-Man is definitely one of my favorite Spider-Man games.

Same. You can see in the section of them going through Peter's mind how reality set in for him and he realized how badly he hurt people. You can feel how sorry he is in his lines.
I do like how they tie in mr negative's power to how the anti venom suit is acquired. In the comics. After Eddie Brock is seperated from the venom symbiote. He gets himself a job at feast to try and redeem himself of the things he did as venom. At one point, Martin touches Eddie and his negative powers cause the traces of the symbiote still in Eddie's body to merge with his white blood cells. And when Scorpion (at the time the new venom) senses Eddie in feast and the symbiote tries to rebond with him. The anti venom symbiote emerges. Creating Anti Venom.
That's sick! They did it really well for this game then

I love it, how they portray the symbiote like a drug in this game, you get a taste of it as Spider-man Symbiote Suit, when it comes off you miss it. Then you get another taste with Harry Venom but realize all that addictive power is scary and get a recommended dose of Spider-man AntiVenom suit, that feels good in a healthy way.

I absolutely LOVE that it's not _just_ Venom and/or, in the off chance that he appears in the game, Carnage - Scream is a pretty obscure character all things considered, so it's nice to show one of the lesser symbiotes some love. Plus, I cannot describe the absolute joy I felt when they brought the Anti-Venom into the story. As soon as Li mentioned giving Peter his powers, my brain started getting the happy juices lol

The way this game builds up it’s enemies are so good, Peter literally has to not only invent a new gadget but literally gain the opposite power of venom’s symbiote just to go toe to toe with venoms creations. Imagine being a civilian on the streets trying to fight these things the fact that it couldn’t take any damage from pretty much anything would just make the situation feel so hopeless

That dream dimension sequence was utterly beautiful writing, beautiful composition, and brought tears to my eyes. It gave the Li-Miles arc a beautiful climax and created one of my favorite characters in all of spider-man. It also just completely and totally portrayed the lingering grief peter has. It was really just a beautiful, beautiful sequence.

i LOVED the idea that mr. negative's powers combined with the venom symbiote would make anti-venom. it makes so much sense
It's actually how it happens in the comics. Mr. Negative's power effected Eddie and Venom and they became Anti-Venom, a special symbiote able to cure diseases and destroy other symbiotes. Though still a more monstrous form than Peter's suit here. It even has the same orange underglow effect.

It's actually what happened to Eddie brock in the comics as well but anti venom was as big as venom is. It's literally an anti symbiote that can kill other symbiotes.
Also, the powers that Miles gets are the color blue which is the opposite of the color orange (if you look at a color wheel you see they are opposite from eachother).

The suites that have that frame rate animation like the Spiderman Noir suit can be turned off too in the visual settings although it keeps turning itself back on automatically if you swap back to those type of suits
Well that’s kind of annoying. I enjoyed the last game, where you could apply it as a mod (as well as the fighting effects!! Those were so cool :D ), although that did take away from the gameplay so I’m not surprised they changed it (but they didn’t make the setting useful so like…. Huh??)

The little details make me realise how much love was put into the game. In the Scream scene, the camera shows the "You scream" on the ice cream truck. In the Venom scene, the stage said 'Fresh start'. I'm sure there's lots of other bits I missed but... yeah.

Kraven was done super well in this game. Having him kill other villains set real stakes and i even felt a little remorseful when he died.
I was kind of sad to see him go, he was awesome and easily my favorite character in the game
I really like how Kraven doesn't shy away from using the Spider-Mens weakness. Using the bell sound on Peter and using a hunter disguise as civilian to inject drug into Miles, truly a hunter.

This game incorporates every possible thing relating to Spider-Man so well, just the pinnacle of Spider-Man content.
The fact the writers pulled so many different spiderman storylines to make this game, well, it works. It works for THIS universe of course, and I like what they've done with it.
it's cool that this version of Venom isn't weak to fire just the high frequency of sounds so that they can make him do the cool walking through fire thing. it also makes me think of the lore of this version of the symbiotes it was the sound of the hammer forging the sword that tormented them but it was the flame that kept them strong.
Something Jack has highlighted in this series that I never really thought about, is how such big set pieces and action sequences can realistically be delivered only through the video game medium at this point in time. Due to many reasons like budget, technology etc., movies cant give you the same level of action as games have the potential to, which I find very interesting from a story telling perspective. You could say its one of the strengths of the medium.
Video games are really the ideal medium for superhero stories for this fact alone

I love Spidey casually giving Alma a robot dog named Fido and her just accepting it without questioning where it came from.
I’m really enjoying the whole concept of villains reformed like how tombstone turned into a fairground mechanic like that’s so wholesome. Really shows how Pete genuinely wants the best life for those who oppose him. The dynamic between Miles and Li is really cool
i know sean loves it but everytime i see miles in that suit i just think of spiderverse pete saying "spiderman doesnt wear capes" and i just cant get over it
Insomniac must've been heavily inspired by Ultimate and Web of Shadows and I love it. My two favorite Spidey games wrapped into one. If just in chunks.

yea i loved the Web of shadows from the console and DS and Ultimate was hated due to it canceling Spectacular spiderman but tbh that show had alot of good things such as the other spiderverses and how Harry was the Anit-Venom and MJ was the Carage Queen and Agent Venom of Flash and there is so much more but YK the Idea

Playing Venom was dope as fuck, his design is GOATED. Love Li trying to turn over some new leaves. And Pete's Anti-Venom suit is so damn good.

Pro tip for anyone struggling with the green symbiotes like Seán, they get taken out instantly if you web them up. They don't even have to stick to anything, just need to be webbed. Makes the ricochet web gadget super handy in symbiote fights. The crawling pink things that explode can also be forced to explode if you web them up
The look in Kraven's eyes of absolute animalistic delight when he first laid eyes on venom vs the look in his eyes filled with immense human emotions when he last laid eyes on venom.
What a beautiful detail to animate.

That back breaker move is a call back to the 2005 Ultimate Spider-Man. It was open world Spider-Man game that was pretty well excepted and you got to play as Venom. It was also one of my favorites. One of his moves was to snap peoples backs like a twig. I was constantly reminded of that game watching the opening Venom scene here and was hoping to see something call back to it. When he did the back breaker I almost fell out of my chair.

Kraven’s death was NUTS. They did *not* hold back, and it was amazing. I did not expect them to show his head being swallowed, and his necklace dropping down with blood. Also the moment with Harry second guessing what he did and then Venom coercing him was perfect.
I wish Harry didn’t kill kraven. I actually enjoyed the kraven scenes.
The Venom finishers are so brutal. I winced the first time I saw him snap a dude in half
Same! I thought Peter and Miles were bad ass and killing people. then Venom came-
A lot of boss battles have you up against an equal or overcoming an overwhelming force. But the the battle of Kraven vs Venom... Kraven was outmatched and I can feel that just watching. Not often that boss battles give that kind of perspective and I am all for it. I love being the boss for a change.
Even Kraven knew it "yes! You will be my final hunt! And I, will be your first!"
it's so funny yet infuriating how jack always ignores at least 2 on-screen notifiers telling him he's being spotted and then is surprised when the hunters proceed to alert each other

Loving everything symbiote for this game so far, the number of them is crazy! But my god, Martin Li saying "If you help someone, you help everyone." That was such a beautifully fantastic line, love his character. Spoilers!!
Him losing his powers as a side effect, finally being able to live normally, being able to let go of all his vengeance/revenge, god, it all made thst line so much better, the whole game with martin li slowly reforming as a SIDE BAR is insane to have go on with the amazing symbiote situation in the game.

If you don’t like the changed frame rate for the spider verse suits, you can change it in suit settings or something, it said that when you first equipped Miles’ spiderverse suit for the first time.
