I have this carb on my 3.8L marine engine and had rebuilt it twice without success. However after watching your video a few times, I gleaned a few nuggets of info that allowed me to finally rebuild it correctly and get my boat running again! Thanks Mike
Great videos Mike.. Just built one of these for my 88 Bayliner Capri. Just one suggestion. When doing these videos, get better lighting on the carb. Carb is very dark!!!
I've watched somewhere in the neighborhood of 3 hours of your videos I'm trying to find the position of just one of those rods on the side just a brief half second glimpse of it I literally killed my battery and had about 90% when I started so frustrating
Hey Mike. Good video. My 2 barrel rochester (17086107) is mounted on an OMC Ford 2.3L marine engine and having trouble locating the proper float adjustment. I know in your segment you said that it will depend on engine/application. In yours you said closed the float should be 1/2" and open 1 1/4". I tried that and got fuel dumping. Can you offer reference for this particular engine? Thanks.
Hi Mike I have a what I think is a 2gv. The choke has a rod going to the manifold. I wanted to put an accelerator pump. It has no ball in the pump cylinder. The pump appears to go down in the boar farther than the slot in the side of the cylinder. Gas does not refill. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
I really enjoy watching your videos Mike, but the position of your camera and lighting give off backlight effect, making the work point real dark. I've got several of these 2 Jets and will be ordering kits for them so its worth my watching. I also have a Rochester BC and during my tear down found that someone else attempted a rebuild and broke the small rod atop the power piston and the spring was missing. If I remember you said these were no longer available parts?
Mike I just took a pair off a Mercruiser in line for, I wish to rebuild them and use them in series on a custom intake manifold on a in line Chevy 6 cyl,, are you the man for parts?
Does a tap on the throttle in the morning spit enough fuel down the carb to start the engine? Can you just eliminate or disable the choke? I live in a year-round warm climate.
Mikes Carburetor sir can u help me ? I have 2 barrel carb on a 327 chevy 69 impala and the choke is messed up I have to hold it so it won't shut off that is with someone in the driver seat starting it up or I have to keep on stepping on the gas I don't know what to change or do what part of the carb choke
You have ripped many things off of that carb before anything was said ! When you say " way back " or " further back " when talking about the 2GC is far too ambiguous .... what years is that ?
@@asoorlin I bought a rebuild kit 2g GC I have a 62 starchief but I have a 389 from 60 or 61 Bonneville I'll be rebuilding it this weekend and hope it's right kit, there are no tags on carb but looks similiar to the vid

Definitely a video for someone who's done this many times before.

Can I buy just the check ball? If so do you have a part number? Thanks for all your helpful videos
Yes, 1 for main discharge and 1 for pump: www.carburetor-parts.com/Check-balls-and-Weights_c_1614.html
Mike. Thank you for the video. If a 2GC is turned upside down, will it displace the aluminum check ball in the accelerator pump well? Thank you

please put the rebuild kit serial number and where to buy ,thanks. great video Mike
You need to give us the carburetor number. There are several kits depending on the carb number.
Mike can you tell me if all the carbs on the three deuces setup have the return spring?
I'm not sure if I should rebuild the carb in my amc eagle or just put a weber carb in it.
Is there a way to clean the hollow brass pipes with the wholes in it on the venturi while the carb is still together?
Will this carburetor work for 305 ,5.0L, or 350 5.7L. Or is there different ?

As the pump pulls up the gas is filled. Please read this page for pump information: www.carburetor-parts.com/2-jet-accelerator-pump-circuit
@ someone had installed a longer pump not letting the cylinder fill. I ordered correct pump from your store. It seems to be fixed. Thanks

Is this same as 61 Catalina 389
I'm pretty sure it's the same carb that's in my 62 Catalina 389
