I really like how Gladion referred to Silvally as Silvally even as a Type: Null. It shows that he really respected his Pokemon as he called it by the name it was given and not the demeaning title it had to bear with it's helmet.
Fun fact It's cannon at least in the game's universe that Gladion chose silvally's name (the reason he chose this name was because this Pokémon was his "silver ally")
It's interesting how Type: Null isn't treated as a pre-evolution of Silvally in the anime, but rather as a limiter. It might be an indirect reference to how the pokedex in the games treats some evolutions like slight alterations to your appearance like Magnemite instead of full blown transformations.
I mean it technically was just a limiting helmet. I guess in the games, "evolution" was really the only way they could show it permanently breaking free and in the anime they got to show off how it was actually intended.
@@narxmagee727 That's the way I've always seen it, personally. The helmet limits Silvally by making it unable to use it's RKS system by preventing it from being able to accept the usage of memories to change it's type, and it must be extremely heavy if it reduces it's speed
Its more of a limitation of the games than an alteration of the anime... the helmet was always meant as a limiter but you cant change a pokemon's stats in the games without evolving it hahaha
Silvally was such a cool Pokemon. A beast killer with an ability to change it's type akin to Arceus. It was literally the Foundation playing god and I think it came out great with this sort of awesome Frankenstein's monster type Pokemon. Glad it got a prominent role as one of Gladion's partner.
Definitely one of the darkest rivalry/Pokemon stories this story has had... And it had me hooked. Gladion was a great rival, and his Silvally's backstory was one of the best this show's had. Reminds me of a darker Chimchar in a sense.
If you actually compare all of Ash's alolan pokemon & then pair them against Silvally, all Gladion had to do to win against ash would be to give Silvally not the Fighting Memory, but the GROUND MEMORY, and he would've swept through ash's whole team with Ground-type Multi-Attacks being super-effective in taking out: Pikachu, Torracat, Lycanroc, Melmetal, & Naganadel; and finish it up by taking out Rowlet with Air Slash
Eh, I'm not so sure it would have mattered. Melmetal had already weakened it to the point where Pikachu one shot it. For the others, Naganadel is a speed demon that held its own with Tapu Kok after being weakened, Lycanroc and Torracat know the moves Revenge and Counter which could have been used against Silvally, for Rowlet it could of used a grass move in Silvally weakened state, that is if it could dodge air slash long enough.
@@dragondudeification Possibly; the anime portrayed the killer Silvally with strong traits in strength, speed, & stamina. With traits in mind and that Silvally took on a Shell Smash powered up Inferno Overdrive & lived even with the same typing after being weakened; so it could definitely take on counter or revenge ( especially even if it did a type change). Then despite Melmetal's strength and/or Naganadel's speed, both of these 2 don't have a lot of battle experience; especially up against Silvally (I mean in most Meltan/Melmetal battles, it kinda did what it wanted & didn't really listen to ash; same with Poipole too but those were outside battles, but it still parallels the same thought). And lastly, even if it's a type disadvantage, if it's gladion's silvally versus ash's rowlet, Silvally definitely has more power to power through rowlet's "speed" and as well as with its attacks
@@MarcusMapua True, but I kind of feel as though with the anime, power is sometimes matched with experienced. Look at Ash's Goodra, Glaie, Dragonite and Kingler, even his Gible. They went up against opponents that had more experience but had the power and durability to match. Heck Naganadel managed to tank two Dazzling Gleams from Tapuk Koko, I think that should count for something. Plus even though some of Ash's pokemon have a bit less experience I don't see Silvally straight of sweeping through them like Tobias's Darkrai even went type advantage and experience. They have enough victories and battles on their belt to give Silvally a run for its money, especially if is weakened.
@@dragondudeification Could be so. Albeit though, the first example you mentioned with naganadel tanking tapu koko's two dazzling gleam attacks might not have been the best example to use when comparing battle experience or type advantages as dazzling gleam only did normal effective damage to naganadel (do not forget that although it is a dragon type, it is also part poison type, which makes fairy type attacks do normal damage, not super-effective damage). But back to the way I viewed it, I think I only see it that way along with some people as I described it before is because well, the sm series's scaling on battle power is definitely different from the seasons. The examples you made with Goodra, Gladlie Dragonite, Kingler, & Gible I definitely agree with, but I felt it was supported as to how they were brought up in their seasons' story-background development. They showed their true strength from how they developed from both their known species & how they were brought up from their show; but a lot of people found it harder for that when it came to the sm series with how they changed things up for the younger audience, in which most people thought up their battle prowess & fighting experience based on their species thereafter (even back in the day when sm was wrapping up, I even saw some hardcore pokemon anime series analysts state that the sm series was the only season with the least amount of battles altogether compared to previous seasons, which made it analyzing pokemon battle prowess in their anime season a bit farcical; which meant depending on their known species bio info & who the "season-series" trainers who raised them)
Gladion was absolutely one of the highlights of Alola. Maybe an ancestor of his appears in Legends Arceus to hint at the connection between Arceus and Silvally a bit
Silvally really got it good in the anime, tons of screentime, a whole backstory and being shown as an absolute menace in battle like it should. Compare that to the games where you only see it once in the last gladion battle before you're just given type null with no real fanfare not to mention how RIDICULOUSLY underpowered silvally is in gameplay to the point where it feels like gamefreak went out of their way to make it bad, like they gave komala earthquake but not this 7 ft tall legendary ?
Imagine if silvally was able to change type mid-battle like it does in the anime That would be so cool and help the legendary Pokémon overcome it's decently low stats

Imagine how OP Silvally would be in the games if we could use it the way Gladion can. XD
Throwing in whatever memory we want at any time during battle sounds absolutely broken. It'd even have more stab options than Arceus cause I don't think a Fairy Plate was introduced.

Everyone has different tastes and interests. Even though I love Pokemon, there's definitely a lot I dislike about the series. You can't help what you like & dislike when it comes to entertainment. Part of the beauty of the Pokemon games is that you get to create your own universe.
Y'know, I've always wondered. What does "RKS" even stand for. Yes yes, I know it's a play on Arceus's name but is there an actual meaning to the abreviation.
Out of all of ashes rivals throughout the entire series, gladion is one of my favorites alongside Alain, Stephan, Virgil, and ashes friend Kiawe, gladion was pretty interesting I love how he may look like a tough guy but he actually has a soft side, and I love his interactions with ash I. The whole sun and moon series, and it was a fun on i. My opinion you can say gladion is like the Alain in the Alola region, except he was runner up in that series, since ash became champion for once but in past regions he’s had some decent placements expect we all know he did poorly in kanto/the indigo league but learns from it, gladion is actually pretty cool In my opinion and love how he cares about his family and his Pokémon were pretty cool. Good stuff!. 😊👍

Great history of Silvally, Professor! Such a strong a noble pokemon. Even though this video wasn't about it, really shows you how strong Ash's Melmetal is considering how it not only tanked a super effective attack from it but also came close to beating it. Would have loved to see it go up against Ash's Naganadel.
Except Hau’s Decidueye gets one episode as a Dartrix and then the next time we see it, it had already evolved. We don’t get to see it’s character development. Also, Zoroark didn’t have any development either. Also, it’s “literally” not “LiTtErLy”
Gladion's relationship with Silvally was always so heartwarming. It was kind of bizarre that Silvally is basically just an Arceus clone, but they gave it such a good story line that it still was an absolutely loveable Pokemon. It also doesn't hurt matters that in spite of its inferior base stats it does get certain really good support moves that Arceus doesn't.
I have a theory: I'm sure we will see Gladion and Lillie in Journeys when it comes to looking for their Dad, and Ash and Goh will end up helping of course. Now, don't forget, Goh's goal is to catch 1 of every kind of Pokemon Species... I feel like, since in the games, more than 1 Type: Null was confirmed (3 Type: Null's I believe, 1 being Silvally under the control of Gladion) to exist, and Gladion gives you 1 in the Alola Games... I predict after Ash, Goh, Gladion and Lillie find Mohn, before Gladion and Lillie, and Ash and Goh, go their separate ways, Gladion will gift Goh a Type: Null.
Can we talk about that this dude manly used normal and a single flying type move and still bodied everyone Also if gladion used the ground memory in his battle with ash, he would of curbed stomped ash
EXACTLY!!!!!
@josh farmer: If you want to get into the nitty gritty of it, both normal and flying types have really great neutral coverage. Normal may not actually be able to deal super effective damage to anything, but with only 3 total types that resist it, it's often a safe bet in battle, even if it's usually preferable to have other types instead. As for flying, there actually aren't that many types that are super great defensively that resist it (most notably steel), which tends to make the type very solid offensively, with some of the biggest examples showing the danger of how strong the type can be including gen6 OU, in which a strategy known as "bird spam" was pretty dominant for a while, and this eventually lead to the nerfing of Talonflame's gale wings ability. Meanwhile, flying is considered to be a strong type offensively in the Ubers tier as well, partly thanks to the fact that there don't seem to be too many good defensive Pokemon that resist it; it was thanks to these factors that lead to Mega Salamence becoming the best mega evolution in the tier
As someone who has no idea about Sun & Moon, this was very interesting. So are Ultra Beast pokemon? Also is there enough content in the anime for Cynthia's Garchomp?
Ultra Beasts technically are Pokemon; it's just that they aren't native to the world the series normally takes place in. It's for that reason why they are often so strange looking when compared to most other Pokemon in the series, and it wouldn't be a stretch to call them aliens
I’ve always liked silvally and always felt it is similar to Bruce banner and hulk in certain aspects and like the Marvel version of Frankenstein’s monster in being an unusual hero like the rest of the howling commandos especially with the brother in arms type bonds between the groups
I know a bit late but I definitely just subscribed not only because your explanation was phenomenal but also by the fact that you took time and answered everyone’s comments that’s such an amazing thing to me thank you for that. (Even if you don’t respond to this one lol because it’s 2yrs late)
So Gladion has one; the player character has one; the one in gen 8 is a completely new one made with stolen data, which means; there's still at least one Silvally unaccounted for. And would it be a good thing or a bad thing if they could breed? And how would Lord Arceus react to its existence if they were to meet
Professor Silver fox! Another great video. I’ll be honest, I kinda stopped watching when this season came out. The art style was… idk maybe I didn’t give it a chance. This shows that Gladion isn't just an edgy teenager. It shows that he has friendship with his Pokémon: An Acual Soul. He's more than a Shadow the Hedgehog Clone, and that's one of the things I like about Gladion in the Pokémon Anime.
I am back! Finished my writing on the day this was released and after resting for a few days I decided to watch this video! Silvally's chimera theme always freaked me out but it is a good and tough pokemon. Great video! Sorry I dont have more to say. I am still resting my brain.

Everyone has different tastes and interests. Even though I love Pokemon, there's definitely a lot I dislike about the series. You can't help what you like & dislike when it comes to entertainment. Part of the beauty of the Pokemon games is that you get to create your own universe.
@@ProfessorAlexSilver that’s fair
@@ProfessorAlexSilver I don’t mind if people dislike it I just get a bit annoyed by the needless bashing
Thank you for the consistent uploads. Also glad to see you got a sponsor. To you and your editor, keep up the good work
Much appreciated!
Y'know, I've always wondered. What does "RKS" even stand for. Yes yes, I know it's a play on Arceus's name but is there an actual meaning to the abreviation.
Hmm good question
Gladion would make for a great competitor in the Ultra Class :)
Silvally is one of those Legendary Pokemon who had a big backstory in the anime
@Chaos of madness yes :)
@Chaos of madness yes man
Yup, very cool :)
I'm honestly amazed Faba wasn't sent to jail after everything he did. You'd think trying to wipe the memory of your boss's daughter would have serious consequences.
I guess it wasn't a big deal because he wasn't part of an evil team organization that can be wrong though cuz I haven't watch sun and moon
The police are way too lenient in Pokemon lol
@@ProfessorAlexSilver Yat they can arrest Butch and Cassidy and ghetsis and Team Plasma I don't get the logic of a crime in the show
@@YlO414 all those evil organizations trying to take over or destroy over the world/region and steal pokemons while Faba caused trouble to Aether family only so if Lusamine and her childrens wanted they can put Faba behind the bars easily
But yeah he still get small punishment
Considering how that could fall under Forced Drugging yeah I’m confused why he isn’t behind bars
i like how literally every man made pokemon is either a mythical or legendary but the only one i respect besides mewtwo is silvally its a cool pokemon
Poor Porygon haha
@@ProfessorAlexSilver porygon line is legendary in my heart
Great history of Silvally, Professor! Such a strong a noble pokemon. Even though this video wasn't about it, really shows you how strong Ash's Melmetal is considering how it not only tanked a super effective attack from it but also came close to beating it. Would have loved to see it go up against Ash's Naganadel.
Thanks!!
This has to be one of the most best alolan pokemon ever litterly! Maybe doing his zoroak would be awesome! (Maybe Hau's Decidueye?)
Zoroark would be super fun
Except Hau’s Decidueye gets one episode as a Dartrix and then the next time we see it, it had already evolved. We don’t get to see it’s character development. Also, Zoroark didn’t have any development either.
Also, it’s “literally” not “LiTtErLy”
@@gymleaderhasan That is true decidueye didnt really show up much so theres that also thanks for the autocorrect didn't notice that-
And here I thought Team Rainbow Rocket was threat but Faba really shows his evil side when it comes to making Lusamine proud he really was a mad lad.
He was a HUGE jerk to Silvally
Gladion's relationship with Silvally was always so heartwarming. It was kind of bizarre that Silvally is basically just an Arceus clone, but they gave it such a good story line that it still was an absolutely loveable Pokemon. It also doesn't hurt matters that in spite of its inferior base stats it does get certain really good support moves that Arceus doesn't.
This video was great! Silvally is by far my favourite Pokémon of all time, and this was such a nice recap of its backstory!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That's one hard core Pokemon. Loved the video Alex!
Thanks David!
Outstanding video Professor Alex Silver
Thanks :)
I think that's very possible!
I do hope we see more of gladion and silvally
I love melmetal vs silvally
Very cool battle :)
I love this pokémon. Type: Null was the first Pokémon I've deliberately shiny hunted in Ultra Sun and succeeded it even having an Adamant nature. :)
Great choice, Silvally is awesome
Congrats on 50K Alex Silver!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much 😀
Now I want to see Gladion’s Salvally battle Mewtwo.
That'd be cool!
The Complete History of Ash's Dusk Form Lycanroc.
That one shall be epic :)
Can we talk about that this dude manly used normal and a single flying type move and still bodied everyone
Also if gladion used the ground memory in his battle with ash, he would of curbed stomped ash
That's how it's done in Alola haha
EXACTLY!!!!!
@@matthewkuscienko4616 let's also not forget that type:null and sylvally are normal types so they get stab
Will that make any difference in their battle? Silvally didn't score a single hit on Pikachu and get OHKO after he take big hits from Melmetal
Very cool, it's a lot like an anti-hero for sure
this is y i luv gladion. he may not look it but hes so sweet and caring and just UGH.
His Silvally is one of my favs
Can you please do a complete history of Ash or Satoshi's 6th strongest Unovan Pokemon Snivy.
Snivt is still on the list :)
Ash Rowlet , Lycanroc, Incineroar, Sogoleo , Naganadel and Melmetal
I'd love to cover Melmetal some day
This one was another great video!!
Yay, thank you!
Appreciate the refresher course Professor. Can't wait to see what 2022 will bring
Greninja of course ;)
With the way zmoves work in the anime sylvally is the perfect zmove pokemon since you could have it use any of the type based zmoves you wanted it to.
Lots of versatility :)
Excellent overview!
Thanks!
Nice A Gladion Episode thats really amazing
I'll do more next year :)
Man I love your smile! Congratulations on the sponsor btw!
Thanks on both accounts!
Glad to see u again Alex and nice legendary review
Thanks! More soon :)
Awesome 👍 video 👏.... Been waiting for this one.... YAY.... Luv it.... Thank you.... 💪👍.... Be safe everyone 😃...
Thanks! You too :)
Thanks for the lesson Professor
Any time Roy!
Amazing lesson as always, Professor!
Glad you think so!
We need to see Lycanroc history
Some day :)
I must say this was pretty awesome to learn the history of Glabion's Silvally and I wish y'all a great day.
Glad to hear that :)
I know a bit late but I definitely just subscribed not only because your explanation was phenomenal but also by the fact that you took time and answered everyone’s comments that’s such an amazing thing to me thank you for that. (Even if you don’t respond to this one lol because it’s 2yrs late)
Gladion & Silvally was a great and well developed character, such a great concept fleshed out & enhanced from the anime!
Agreed!
Yay another video!
I definitely learnt more about silvally from this video!
I'm glad!
So Gladion has one; the player character has one; the one in gen 8 is a completely new one made with stolen data, which means; there's still at least one Silvally unaccounted for.
And would it be a good thing or a bad thing if they could breed?
And how would Lord Arceus react to its existence if they were to meet
Let's hope it doesn't get crushed haha
Excellent Video and Very Impressive win/loss record!!
Thanks!
@@ProfessorAlexSilver your welcome 😃
Gladion finding other Silvallies would be wild.
He's basically Alain's Mega Charizard X with Writer's showing love for Ash to win the league.
I'd love to see a miniseries for it like Charizard got
Every Girl around 8 to 15 years should have a Brother like Gladion!!
A good sibling is a great asset :)
@@ProfessorAlexSilver Exactly!
Coincidentally, I evolved my Type: Null into Silvally in Shield when your video came out
Perfect timing :)
Professor Silver fox! Another great video. I’ll be honest, I kinda stopped watching when this season came out. The art style was… idk maybe I didn’t give it a chance. But this video and the several mentions/appearances of Lycanroc(a favorite in my party from moon) makes me believe I should try to watch. Thank you for another great and informative video. Also, I don’t keep snacks at my home but those look pretty good
Sun and moon is a top tier anime, and is honestly the second best after XY
@@590488 but that animation style, I grew up watching first season of Pokémon as it was airing on tv. Ash’s sudden change in appearance was kind of jarring
@@590488 I prefer sun and moon because it was more like there is no rush in doing stuff like in x and y the tournament was so rushed that in the 3rd episode were in the femies finals and x and y plot was get 8 gym bagges and go to the tournament lose beat the bad guys and season over and in sun and moon they could have made alot of plots
@@gimp7915 Pokemon Sun and Moon and Journeys change the Pokemon formula of the past gen 1-gen 6 this old formula was Ash collecting gym badges entering a league tournament and end up losing unlike sun and moon it is different as well as Journeys cuz he's taking on the world coronation series
I would've preferred they stuck with XY animation, and had my grips, but the characters were still well-developed which was nice
Funny how a legendary lost to a pikachu, and a pikachu ONLY
It's just that strong :)
Gladion Umbreon and Midnight Lycanroc
Already did the research :)
Amazing video as always gladion's pokemon were always so cool!
Glad you enjoyed!
Anyone else has silvally as their number 1 favourite Pokémon
Not my fav, but I dig it as a character :)
Loki+Obama=prof silver😂
not sure I see the resemblance but hope you liked the vid!
This shows that Gladion isn't just an edgy teenager. It shows that he has friendship with his Pokémon: An Acual Soul. He's more than a Shadow the Hedgehog Clone, and that's one of the things I like about Gladion in the Pokémon Anime.
You should tackle ashs greninja,it would be cool.
Silvally is basically a bootleg version of Arceus still a good pokemon though nice balanced stats across the board
Ha being a bootleg version of a god can't be too bad
I am back! Finished my writing on the day this was released and after resting for a few days I decided to watch this video! Silvally's chimera theme always freaked me out but it is a good and tough pokemon. Great video! Sorry I dont have more to say. I am still resting my brain.
Welcome back!
Should do a video of the following:
1. Ashes number of stage 1 pokemon and why they do not evolve.
2. Ashes number of stage 2 pokemon and why they never evolve.
3. Ashes number of fully evolved pokemon and why he hasn't used a fully evolved team yet, this includes leaving Pikachu out of a match for the purpose of showcasing his 6 best evolved pokemon.
Good ideas!
Truly, a powerful ally in its' own right 0w0
Yup! Silvaly ftw
Nothing more wholesome that a boy and his Frankenstein abomination ageist nature.
Absolutely true
i'm not even surprised Ash's pikachu can defeat a side character's pokemon
Haha
Professor silver don’t miss!
Thanks :)
Silvally is one of my all time favorite Normal Type Pokemon.
My all time favourite pokemon, and easily the most underrated
'Saved Lilly for the umpteen time' XD This made me laugh too much
Tis true, tis true XD
