Keiino's members are from different parts of the country and Fred - the guy that makes you love - is samish. The samish people are a minority in Norway, that got suppressed for a long time. Now they have the same rights, but sometimes they're almost seen to be strange. Keiino wants to represent the whole country and show that racism is totally out of time. And I think they're doing a great job

Fred is such a legend, so sad to hear you not like his part in the song. He brings so much tradition and color to the song. KEiiNO wouldn't be the same without him.
Fred is Sami. Their culture vas sadly repressed by the Norwegian State for decades, with many of their children being forced into Norwegian language boarding schools, where they were taught to forget and feel shame in their own language and culture, and instead embrace a new "Norwegian" identity. Since the late 1980's this policy has changed, with many Samis showing pride in their language and culture. Fred is singing in the Sami language, and using and important bit of Sami culture, the "Joik", in a modern way. So your criticism can come across as somewhat culturally insensitive, when you constantly bash him.
Wow - I usually like your reactions but you were totally off with this one. I know its your opinion but judging by the dislikes, not many people agreed with you, myself included. Joik, pronounces as «yoik». In Norwegian the letter J has an Y - sound in English in front of a vocal, i.e. Young. I don't know why people write yoik from time to time, maybe it s the English word for it. But the correct spelling is Joik.

@@HonestVocalCoach And one more thing. In your reaction you said the sami joik/rap has nothing to do with the song. You are so wrong. THE SONG IS ABOUT LEGACY, WHAT WE LEAVE BEHIND,. JOIK IS ONE OF EUROPE'S OLDEST SONG TRADITIONS (GOOGLE IT). SO HOW CAN YOU SAY JOIK HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SONG? 80'S SOUND, RIGHT AND THE ROOP'S SONG IS NOT 80's SOUND? DISCOTEQUE IS JUST A FLAT MELODY WITH REPETATIVE LYRICS HINDING BEHIND A GIMMICK DANCE. TRYING TO HARD TO CONTINUE WHERE THEY LEFT OF LAST YEAR. THAT IS MY OPINION. AND THAT SONG YOU LIKED!?
This is my absolute favourite Eurovision song so far! I love the Nordic folk part I think it adds to the other two parts perfectly! They won the televote in 2019 and I’m kinda hoping they go all the way this year❤️
As a quick heads up, yoiking is not a Norwegian thing, it's a Saami thing. The Saami are the only indeginous people in Europe and live in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. Yoiking is especially a Northern Saami way of singing. There are also other singing styles such as Inari Saamis' livđe and Skolt Saamis' leu'dd. :)
I'm from Norway and I think this band is nothing without the joik (regardless of their talent). I'm not alone in thinking this way. But off course they have to make the best out of it and perform well
I think the joiking is really well incorporated. I love this group and usually they have given him small sections or background vocals, but he's very prevalent in this song. I think it really grounds their performance. The song is about the "insignificant" things and people in life that shape our lives that nobody pays attention to and don't get monuments. Because the song is so introspective about legacy, history, and the unsung moments, I think the sami language throughout contextualizes it, even if it isn't understandable to 99% of people, including me. It isn't at all like the rest of the song, but for me it works. The melody is also very beautiful, Tom's harmonies are perfectly suited for Alexandra's vocals, and Alexandra really does have a top notch voice. I love this song a lot and I hope it goes to Eurovision 2021.
Girlies, I think we can all agree that we feel personally offended if someone comes after one of them, let it be Alexandra, Fred or Tom. Gosh, my heart was loud. My advise for you, Georgina, is that you can now performan a quick research on joiking and why it's so important for him to be in the group. Either way, we don't expect you to know everything. Cheers!
You just have to dive into their story... they are 3 for a reason... and participated in the 2019 contest where they had the highest televoting points. With this song they want to represent Norway again. They are straight to the final of MGP, the national selection.
Eh, your expression cannot hide how disinterested you are in Keiino. The praise, the excitement all seem really forced. But nothing new here. You've always disliked them since 2019. I do recall in your 2019 reaction you didn't like the joik and Keiino either in 2019 and you still don't. And that's okay. However, gotta be honest I didn't enjoy this reaction because it felt really rushed. You fast forwarded a lot, it almost seemed you wanted this to be over with. I almost didn't watch this reaction because I recalled your bland reaction to Keiino in 2019 and it wasn't a pleasant one given so many people loved the song, but then I did think, let's give you the benefit of the doubt, maybe you wouldn't be so subjective this time. But oh do I wish not watch this reaction either. Quite disappointed in the very subjective reaction. Your personal dislike for the group kinda shows in many parts even when you acted like you're impressed because I've seen you a lot when you're genuinely excited and enthusiastic about something and this just wasn't it. Also, what's with all the laughing at the joik? You cut this a lot, you know. Wonder why. I bet you wouldn't appreciate it much when someone is laughing at you everytime you, say, vocalize an "oooo" while you're singing, would you? I understand bland reaction to the songs that do deserve it, but Monument is such a good song and so was Spirit In The Sky but both reactions in 2019 and this are just under par to me. They deserve better, more enthusiastic reaction.
she is is just a voice and opinion among millions.. In life you meet things you dont understand, she has done that at least twice :) :) :) all other reviews and reaction tells her wrong, still respect her opinion :)
@@stevesolb1132 don't get me wrong. I respect different opinions. It's just how this is cut/fast-forwarded a lot it almost seems she didn't want to react to this in the first place. The lack of enthusiasm in the first place and all just tells a lot. The cuts all over the place whenever the joik comes. It all really irks me. It's not that I don't understand why she did it. In the contrary, I do understand why and that's why it irks me so much cause people who expose themselves to lots of different kinds of sounds wouldn't even be laughing at the joik, as if it's such a foreign layer to this song.
KEiiNO absolutely needs Tom because he wrote all the songs and he was the one brings the group together in the first place. And I think he harmonizes beautifully
Great to see KEiiNO getting the Honest Vocal Coach treatment. This group were the Norwegian representatives at the last contest in Tel Aviv 2019 with the song Spirit in the Sky which won the public vote on the night but not the contest overall. The inclusion of the “rap/spoken style” is the traditional yoik performed by Fred who did contribute in the same way in their 2019 song. The style of singing comes from Sámi music by the Sámi people of the far north of Norway, Sweden & Finland. It does take some getting used to and as you say Alexandra has an amazing voice which blends wonderfully with Tom. Let’s see if they are selected by the Norwegian public to give Eurovision another try.
Remember my words - this is the eurovision winner of 2021. In 2019 they already done eurovision and where the public votes winners. And that song has so much more and will also make the juries so happy. This is the winning song! Many people thought like you in 2019 as well - now even friends they didnt liked the 2019 song - are now big fans. This guy u want to get rid of is giving this song something very special ethnic - this is norway. In Dezember 2019 i was on a eurovision concert in amsterdam. And when his voice kicked in - all and really all of the fans where freaking out. Also me when listening this the first time in 2019 where not a big fan of him - but wait this will grow in you ;-)
I'm from the future, and I have some very bad news to give you. It didin't even win the national final by over 100k votes. I just do not see this song beating Italy, France, or even ANY of the top 5 even if it won.
@@sadietrent804 I think Carrie Grant (UK vocal coach!) was on the British jury in 2019, and the juries rated Keiino much lower than the public vote. Perhaps it's a vocal coach 'thing' to dislike them.

I like the way Keiino was established, as a trio with a strong identity. I didn't know the existence of the joiking until I met this group. And the joiking sounds beautiful And magical to me. But I just don't like the rap part. I prefer traditional joiking as Fred did it in previous songs. Alexandra is everything. She is the real star. ⭐
I agree about the rap. There seems to be a tendency to insert a little rap into a lot of songs nowadays, and if you are auditioning for The Voice UK it's a surefire way of getting will.i.am to turn for you. I'd prefer Fred's part to be just 'normal' joiking.
@@peterc.1618 I don't think they intended to go with the mainstream here. Fred had a career as a rapper (look up DUOLVA DUOTTAR- MÁRKANSTÁLLU) before he joined KEiiNO and I think they wanted to integrate that part of his artistic identity into the song this time.
Hi from Norway! I read Pauls comment, and I have to agree with some of what he's saying. I like your videos and reactions, but the way you said to just "take him out" about Fred is unknowingly disrespectful to what and who he represents as a minority. I understand that yoik is not everyones taste, but you should read up about it and the Sami people to understand it more. I think Freds yoiking is what really adds to KEiiNO's music. The mixture of modern, electronic pop and ethnic, traditional Sami yoik just gives it that epic vibe in my opinion. It makes you feel something beyond the music and lyrics.
Fred (the Bald guy) is from the Sami indignious people of the northern scandi areas, and the he is using the traditional Sami Joik. They are a group designed to represent people who have been treated badly in the past by the music industry and the nation in general, the Sami people are a huge part of that, Tom-hugo also for being lbgtq+ and Alexandra for not "fitting the trad pop girl role" and the idea is that they can come together as KEiiNO and prove that they can do it together! But I love your reaction as always, ALEXANDRA's vocals are INCREDIBLE!
Ur comments abour Fred's part in the group really show u dont know about sàmi and joik, i recommand actually learning something about it and do some research before u judge such a cultural song. The fact u keep saying "makes me wanna laugh" is exactly the type of reaction sàmi ppl hear all the time to our culture and music, this is why Keiino is such a great trio to represent us and other groups like they do. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but please, do some research before "offending" a whole group of ppl
It’s just your opinion, fair enough, but you.. completely missed it with this one. Fred is great and an integral part of what this group is about! That’s just my opinion x
I do think KEiiNO knows better what fits and belongs into their own song than a random vocal coach does. Everyone is free to share their opinion, of course - but if you speak so negatively of a core member of a group, it's maybe the better and kinder idea to keep that opinion to yourself. He's making you laugh? Seriously? How disrespectful could someone be?
Well. 😡. Fred is actually what makes Keiino that bit special. I guess if you didn’t like them before, it’s not going to make any difference this time. It’s my favourite so far.

How would you react? Could your TH-cam channel exist without you? The same way KEiiNO cannot exist without Fred. Before judging someone, be sure you have prior knowledge of what you are talking about - because you absolutely do not know anything about Nordic music culture. Fred is bringing Sámi culture on the stage in an amazing and modern way.
The reason there is the yoiker/ rapper in this is because Keiino is a band which mixes folk and traditional music with contemporary and pop music. The yoiking is traditional rapping by a native Lapland culture and group. It is very popular and it is the signature of keiino. They wouldnt be unique without it.
This group is the sound of 2019/21. Absolutely stunning group. Seen them live. Loved across the world. The 3some works. Please research this group more. 💚🌎. Keiino rocks.
I have had the honour of working with a professor in Joik for a brief time. I can verify that joik is not the same as singing and is not supposed to be. You are supposed to find a deeper more gutteral voice that will be very diffrent and more chaotic than your singning voice. And sining thechnique has litte to no place in it. Most who learn to sing first will find Joik almost impossible to learn and you must un-learn a lot in order to learn to joik properly. I myself failed miserably at Joik It is easy to see why a vocal coach would find Joik confusing or outright bad, as Joik often does the opposite of what a vocal coach would recommend. That being said I think Joik is amazing at expressing deep feelings like pride and love and also nature, because it is so raw.
@@noo4449 the Jury voted them very low. Yet the public voted them the highest act. If they had been in the year before when there was no jury they would have won!

I must admit the first time I heard Keiino I was a little puzzled with Fred’s contribution. I soon realised that was due to ignorance on my part. The work Keiino do to encourage and preserve indigenous culture is not only beautiful, but also needed in this world where most of us have lost our roots.
I think an informed review rather than complete ignorance to my grandparents culture would have been great. Take yourself off of TH-cam. Your bit of singing on this was worse than his FYI. Your opinion is ignorant.
Monument is prechosen for the mgp final but there are like 5 others who also are and at least 3 more semi finals with 4 conestents each in the game so everything can happen
You’re wrong. This song will destroy the competition. Fred, the guy you don’t like is a traditional Norwegian joiker. This adds the Norwegian feel To this potential Eurovision entry
Yes, kinda. He's a Saami, part of an ethnic group that lives in the area of modern day Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. The Saami is the only indigeneous people in Europe. Joik is a traditional Saami music expression (to my knowledge especially Northern Saami - correct me if I'm wrong), not Norwegian. Northern Saamis live in Norway, Sweden and Finland, so it really isn't about Norway and adding Norwegian feels to the song. It's about Saami feels
I'm from the future. Bad news is that it lost the national selection by over 100k votes. People remembed that this group flopped in 2019 on the jury vote and winning requires you to get a good chunk of jury votes. And based on the 2021 songs, the best this song could do would be 6th. It would NOT beat the top 5 and esspcially NOT beat Italy or France. If this had a bad spot for the final I could see it getting a right side result.
I love the combination of their three voices, joik included. The one thing they really have to work on is looking like a unit - rather than 3 individual artists - on stage.
Guys don't forget that this reaction is what would get a non-eurofan, her reaction was not meant to be disrespect or anything else, she has the right to not like the joik.
To be honest, they would work perfectly fine as a duo, however (and the big point here), I as a Norwegian would probably not vote on them unless they had this quirky Sami joik in it. Simply, it is about branding and cultural Norway.
Of 26 songs, Keiino and Monument was one of 6 songs that was selected by a jury to be direct qualified to the MGP FINAL. The jury/A lot of music professionals don't agree with you @HonestVocalCoach
The MelodiGrandPrix will finish 20st February - Keiino are qualified for the grand finale. They participated in 2019 in TelAviv with - my opinion- a much better song. You should react maybe to Emmy with her song Witch Woods - My favorite this year so far in the norwegian preselection.
It’s not chosen yet - I’d say it’s probably going to be between this song and Raylee’s Hero (which is worth a watch) unless another unannounced song comes along
TIX is the biggest competition for Keiino IMO, he is hugely popular in Norway amongst younger audiences. His song has been streamed over 1m times on Spotify and reached number 1 on the Norwegian Spotify charts.
I don't get all the hate here. I know Keiino from last year and in last year's "Spirit in the sky" all three different voices and styles of singing fitted perfectly together. But in "Monument" I do have the feeling, that Fred's parts are somehow out of place. When hearing the song I got the feeling that they tried to press the joik parts in there because "they have to be there because its a Keiino-Song" if you know what I mean. I love Keiino - all three of them. But I think Monument just does not fit to all three different singing parts and styles. And maybe that's what Georgina felt as well.

@@HonestVocalCoach In contrast to western european tradition as "classical music" you are trained to sing "completely clean", while within joik you can sing in a way that some perceive as "false" or out of tune. When you joik
there may be several melody lines before drawing breath and it can happen anywhere.
@@HonestVocalCoach try sing yoik yourself
This is my absolute favourite Eurovision song so far! I love the Nordic folk part I think it adds to the other two parts perfectly! They won the televote in 2019 and I’m kinda hoping they go all the way this year❤️
Yeah, me too! Fred's adding something unique to their group, I love his parts ♥
But off course they have to make the best out of it and perform well
It's not the official song but it's a favourite to win their selection
Too bad they didn't win
Actually when Fred starts singing, I get the shivers! It’s my favorite part of the song! It’s just so amazing idk why. It’s really strong!
Same!!! I was like literally HOWWW
People are allowed to dislike it you know. reactors can not always make the watchers happy when the singer is not singing at its best apperiantly.
Totally agree with you.
@@-_YouMayFind_- by that logic, I'm free to dislike the reaction you know
There are many boys out here who absolute LOVE Fred's bits - leave his bits alone!!!
KEiiNO absolutely needs Tom because he wrote all the songs and he was the one brings the group together in the first place. And I think he harmonizes beautifully
I think she was talking about not needing Fred
He HAS to be in the group - Without him the group wouldn’t be as amazing as it is
Remember my words - this is the eurovision winner of 2021.
You were "laughing last year on Solovey and now on Monument. I am sorry, but you should show some respect to other nations folk musical elements.
exactly! A real vocal coach would never show such disrespect to people and their cultures
@@sadietrent804 I think Carrie Grant (UK vocal coach!) was on the British jury in 2019, and the juries rated Keiino much lower than the public vote. Perhaps it's a vocal coach 'thing' to dislike them.
This rewiew just made me sad.
Since their entered into competion it's not about respect to their nation musical elements. In this case it's all about if you like the song, or not...Excuse like this is our national music are terrible! Who cares?! This is eurovision! Best song wins, not the song with most national elements!
@@peterc.1618 lol
I love KEiiNO so much💖 Unique Pop Group! There music is amazing. Alexandra’s high note is everything✨
Not gonna lie I thought you'd have a much bigger reaction to that high note! (And the song in general)
She was never a fan of Keiino anyway. I expected this bland reaction.
She loves The Roop... Lol it will be one of these too (actually and if they both are selected) so...
Vocal coach; "the joik has nothing to do with this song" Me laughing and answer "The song is about legacy and joik is europe's oldest song tradition"
I'm kinda confused. Was this supposed to be a song reaction or a Fred Buljo roast? 🤔
Love this song sooooo much
Fred is singing sapmi joik (native norwegian joik) into the song fyi :)
Well. 😡. Fred is actually what makes Keiino that bit special. I guess if you didn’t like them before, it’s not going to make any difference this time. It’s my favourite so far.
And she is allowed to not like it. I don't like it either but more because of the song itself.
@@-_YouMayFind_- She is allowed to not like it but what she uses as reasons are so wrong,That's what bothers me.
Saying joik has nothing to do with the song, when the song is about legacy and joik is europe's oldes song tradition. And in contrast to western european tradition as "classical music" you are trained to sing "completely clean", while within joik you can sing in a way that some perceive as "false" or out of tune. Why all this hate towards Fred? I generally do not leave this type of comments but you absolutely deserve it:
It's funny how the things you said about him could be completely be used to describe your way of talking "one tone", "make laugh", and yep...
Without the sami this would just be any ordinary pop song, and nothing for the eurovision, eurovision needs the bizarre, the weird, the extraordinary.
Not chosen song yet, song is being chosen at the weekend. I really want them to win it because I love this group
I myself failed miserably at Joik
It is easy to see why a vocal coach would find Joik confusing or outright bad, as Joik often does the opposite of what a vocal coach would recommend. That being said I think Joik is amazing at expressing deep feelings like pride and love and also nature, because it is so raw.
Georgina sounds like the Jury in 2019 and they were wrong.
Respect everyone’s opinion though x
I like Keiino and their songs, but how do you know that the 'jury was wrong' in 2019?
@@noo4449 the Jury voted them very low. Yet the public voted them the highest act. If they had been in the year before when there was no jury they would have won!
Vocal coach; "the joik has nothing to do with this song" Me laughing and answer "The song is about legacy and joik is europe's oldest song tradition"
The sami guy makes it interesting and stand out. The duo that you want to sing the song, is good. but too main stream. It need the sami rap to make it different. Please react to Raylee and Jorn as well from the norwegain selection MGP 2021.
SO glad Eurovision is back already! this is pure guilty pleasure territory! great reaction!
The man sings in sami, and with the population her in norway with 5,5 million people it’s only 30k that’s speak the language.. and some of the sounds he makes it’s called a joik..
Their group wouldnt be good without fred. Im certain they wouldnt have been This popular without him.
He is abit off in the live version sadly. When he hits the pitch, it is very nice with the joik.
I think that yoiking dude over here is a reason it is loved by the televotes.
It isn't rap, it's joik, a part of Norwegian Sami culture.
But he also does some rapping
He’s singing sami a native language part of an indigenous group in norwya
Monument and Keiino is not chosen to represent Norway, yet. But it's definitely the best song so far 🥰
I love the combination of their three voices, joik included. The one thing they really have to work on is looking like a unit - rather than 3 individual artists - on stage.
“ I just don’t like his bits” - his poor bits :( 😂😂
Could have phrased that a bit better
The duo would be adequate for this song...😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I got shocked at that comment moment..
😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😅👀👀👀👀
Guys don't forget that this reaction is what would get a non-eurofan, her reaction was not meant to be disrespect or anything else, she has the right to not like the joik.
To be honest, they would work perfectly fine as a duo, however (and the big point here), I as a Norwegian would probably not vote on them unless they had this quirky Sami joik in it. Simply, it is about branding and cultural Norway.
That joik is the main pet of the song in my opinion ❤️
I really enjoyed this video, thanks! By the way, the song hasn’t been chosen to go to Eurovision yet.
It sounds amazing... what are u talking about!? It’s HES language, ofc. You can’t judge it when u don’t know it. Peace out! :)

Love your videos!!!
The song really is the strongest so far.
Mine to. She has such an interesting voice but its still wow
And she should totaly react to her
The song is monumental, and i think they all fit very well together. Perfectly i would say. You should listen to the acustic version.
She should, but I fear the response would be no different. She just doesn’t like them., it’s a simple as that.
@@50sRockChickNarrow minded perhaps...oops, yes i did say that. :p
KEiiNO was prequalified for the finals in Norway. The final is 20. February
Without joiking this song is good
With joiking it's great
That's the difference
My fav song this season
Oh my God, Sweety, you are a little wrong...The Sami joik of Fred is just fantastic and the music doesn't sound like 80's at all ... ! And "Monument" is a n amazing song. Love Keiino 💙
Love your reacions, but not this one
Keiino is not Keiino without Fred.
The Sami joik is magic and it,s time for the Norwegians to put it in at School.. my deepest respect for the Sami folks.
She has a great voice
Too bad you cannot appreciate the sami dimension to this song
Loooovveeeee this song from Turkey...🇹🇷🇹🇷❤️❤️
Ofcourse she sings good live. before she entered Keiino she was the tour vocalist fore Alan Walker.
Sadly this song won't represent Norway in this year Eurovision, TIX with "Falling Angel" would represent Norway.
Its a jury that have choosen that song to get to the final of norway
I think these guys was 2 years ago in Eurovision

He sings in a traditional way
Omg yessss I love you so much and your Eurovision vids
Simply Stunning Entry
It gives me a kind of Aqua vibe especially the more ballady songs.
The fact that she laughed at traditional Sámi Joik is pretty disrespectful in my opinion.
Maybe do some research beforehand.
Honestly gutted keiino aint representing Norway. Love them!!
And the guy is joiking, it's traditional form of song
It was a live performance, I think they gonna fix it
