It was when it first released, but over time actually became viewed as a wonderful classic.
Bit of history on the game:
It was originally met with negativity because the graphics took a step from the more "realistic" look and was cell-shaded with a more toonish style. Which is part of why the Link from that game is called "Toon Link" in Smash Bros.
It also was not what fans were expecting, since Nintendo had made a "tech demo" video that was supposed to show a Zelda game on the Gamecube. It was Dark with a realistic tone, and people thought that was going to be what the next Zelda looked like. And then Wind Waker was released instead. At the time fans thought it made it look too colorful and childish and lashed out about it. So the next Zelda game [Twilight Princess] was made with a darker and more realistic tone. And was met with more positivity.
But as time passed, Twilight Princess's graphics became more dated, and thus doesn't hold up as well over time. Meanwhile, Wind Waker's stylized design made it much more timeless.
After those two games, Nintendo has kinda settled into a sort of mix between the two styles. Stylized appearance with a bit of realistic tone. Which has worked well for the games so far.
Anyways, plenty of Zelda games out there to try, looking forward to seeing you play any in the future.

Both Coney & Simply have awesome content on their own channels as well. Coney being more Smash Bros oriented/variety content, while Simply is a Super Mario 64 speedrunner, so has content surrounding that.
I highly suggest Coney the most, especially his: Salty Bets, Wheel Champ, Evil Genie, & Websurf Wednesdays

Snap seemed like the easiest and they thought it would be the hardest lol. “Unique concept” within the pokemon franchise that quickly becomes repetitive, had to be. And iPhone SE comes around every few years as a souped-up version of whatever is out, so there’s a new one an old one and an even older one all just called “SE” (you can tell by their design or internal device name)
