altho Mel C was skinny here this is the ideal body goal for girl bands right now and its such a shame what they mustve gone through in order to achieve it. felt bad for mel c for always being gossiped on by the other girls (check jimmy gulzars documentary)
they were probably jealous a little bit. She was probably the closest thing to a frontwoman of the group. Everyone who joins a girl/band boy/band grew up dreaming of being a soloist. But most kids who join these groups don't fully comprehend that they will be sharing the limelight. They just see the fame. So to dream of a solo career and have to share is one thing. but then to find that you're not even the main singer is hard. I mean by the standards of the mid 90s Mel C wasn't beautiful (though I alwys thought she was gorgeous) as women were meant to be more feminine and curvy then. By todays standards she'd be hot.
MsJubjubbird this is old but for the body standards thing isn’t it kinda the reverse? Back then (90s-early 00s) you were shamed for having a big butt and don’t even get me started on if you were overweight.. pretty sure skinny was the ideal beauty standard then. However now, being thick (curvy, big butt/boobs but not “fat” in the stomach) is in. I see more ridicule for skinny girls than I do overweight girls these days tbh
What performers! They sing live, move around and keep you entertained! I really wished that i saw them live.

Crazy that all those small kids in the audience are likely in their late 20s/early 30s! Time has flown by.
