Hey I love your videos! I mountain bike in these areas and I want to give backcountry skiing a shot. Do you think it’s possible to get into it as a beginner to skiing in general?
It definitely is possible, though I think it's better to have a good base skill level before venturing out into the backcountry. Maybe try skinning up a resort first? That might be a good way to ease into it and practice 😊

what is the likelihood of avalanches in vermont/the places in this clip? Judging by terrain features, it seems low. Is there even an avalanche forecast? Any idea of the degree of the slopes?
The likelihood for avalanches in VT is pretty small, partly because of the dense trees, because of the lack of steep terrain, and because of the nature of the snowpack (with the rain, wet snow, melt freeze cycles, and lack of persistent weak layers. There's no avalanche forecast for VT (or upstate NY where there definitely is avalanche terrain). When we toured in VT last year we did not bring beacons, shovels, or probes with us, as we were pretty much all on

First clip is on the Steeple Ski Trail in Stowe, VT. Coordinates are 44.4895, -72.7925. Park just off Ranch Brook Rd in Stowe, VT, then skin up the Kimmer's trail to the Sky Top trail and you'll get to the top of the Steeple trail. I recommend using an app like Caltopo. Enjoy!
