You need to push your tire sponsor to make a tire made for drifting your bike. You could call it the PilDrift. I would buy one. Repeated my comment here to make sure Sam sees it. I would really like a slippery tire to drift with. Its a lot of work making a drift tire for a bike. I have never made anything that could last very long.
If you drill a hole on each side of the cut, you should be able to zip tie the plastic together after you put them on the rim. It should hopefully keep the pieces from flying off! These videos are always so fun!

I have never seen Sam so happy. He had to get that crazy hydraulic bike guy to build him something proper for the ultimate epic drift bike dreamy shredder doom.
What you need to do is remove the tire and get some flexible pvc pipe and screw it to the wheel, but, in order to screw it to the wheel, drill a hole slightly larger than the screw head one side of the pvc pipe, then screw the screw through that hole and bend some fender washers to be the same curve as the pipe and stick them inside so the screw will hold tighter. Then tighten the screw and it should hold the pipe on without interfering with your drifting.
