Texas drought and heat and my lack of maintenance made my lawn turn to weeds. It’s just terrible. So I appreciate this video, to try and get it back on track. It’s like 50% weeds, it’s very noticeably waking in it.
Don’t sweat it. I’ve let mine go a bit. Life happens. It’s nothing to worry about. Easy to whip it back into shape even if it’s not until next spring. These fall tips will help with that. Appreciate ya.
Mr. F. up here in Bella Vista,,,, so we use the same triple 10 but since my bermuda sod was laid in may of this year i probably shouldnt do any fall pre-emergant huh?,,,, even pushing a march of next year but its needing something!! what ya think?,,, i mainly have crabgrass and also what i call water grass,,,, what ya think?
If you think it’s in really good shape, I’d probably go ahead and and do what I’ve said in the video. Wait till it goes all the way dormant. It’s had a growing season so should be good to go. Hope this helps. Appreciate ya.
Can‘t agree more! But am stuck…we face a heat wave with no rain since weeks…so verticuted, overseeded and am now waiting for some rain to put my 0-0-10 down. Unfortunately pre-emergent is something we don‘t get here…:( I hope consistent and slow will win the race :)
That makes it tough. Hard to do much when you're not getting some rain every once in awhile. Hope you get some soon. Consistency always works though. Just do what you can and it will pay off. Appreciate you!
@@BudgetLawns The Bluebank KBG in the front held up great. Bringing 4 yards of fresh top soil to the back now. Plan on doing the back with Scott's ProVista KBG. This will be my last reno. Not built for this anymore. 🤣 🥵
Very nice vid bro, hit all of the topics I needed! Looking for a pre-emergent option ✔️ Confirmation 10x3 was/is ok to use ✔️ When to apply last fert & first pre ✔️ ✔️
👍👍 right on man. Glad it helps. If your lawn is established and not new, you may wanna bump the first pre em up to mid September or so. Appreciate ya watching and the feedback.
I can’t wait to pre emerge my yard. The crabgrass is killing my new construction yard this year. Spots look picture perfect and then I have huge spots crabgrass took over.
So was putting out product today and my ancient Scotts broadcast spreader's trigger broke....so that happened....this was post scalp and scarification product throw down weekend...:(
It’s almost time to start calling those hogs! I’ve got some milorganite going down this weekend for the last Fert of the year. Loving the videos, right to the meat and potatoes no fluff
Dang right it is. So close. Glad you’re enjoying the videos. This will likely be a template to expect moving forward. Appreciate your support and feedback. WPS!
Good deal. I use an inexpensive 2 gallon pump sprayer or hose end ready. For me, anything will get the job done. Appreciate ya watching and commenting.
Just found your channel. I moved from NC to Texas in April. I ripped up the builders sod and installed TifTuf Bermuda in the front and Palisades Zoysia in the backyard. Thanks for the advice!
Much past the first week of September, I wouldn’t. Wouldn’t do a heavy app either. But late august, first of September is acceptable. I follow the university of Arkansas extension office calendar. Thanks for watching.
I'm helping out on a lawn that was not treated with a pre-emergent this year so crabgrass is running rampant - is it worth putting down a crabgrass treatment at this point to put us in better shape for next year? (I'm in Raleigh NC so similar climate to you.)
I'd just let it be for the year. That's what I'm doing in my lawn. I'd bet it's too mature to kill anyway. Once crabgrass matures for too long, it's really hard to knock back The first frost/freeze isn't too far off. Once that comes, the crabgrass will be killed off. If you try to remove it now, you'll be opening up a lot of bare space for other weeds to take over. At least it's acting as a ground cover in the meantime. Next spring, a well-timed pre-emergent will prevent it from returning. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for another great video. Any advice on getting rid of established Dallisgrass in my Bermuda lawn? Misidentified it as crabgrass, did a crabgrass preventer and killer applications and what was crabgrass died off, but now I see all of the Dallisgrass. Front yard is about 50% made up of it. Trying to find a budget friendly way to handle it.
Thank you. Appreciate ya watching. My old lawn had lots of dallisgrass at one point. It’s so hard to eradicate. Of course consistency in the cultural practices and creating a thick turf is the most important thing. This won’t be what you want to hear but I did a TON of hand pulling at my old house to get rid of it. Eventually, the dense lawn did its job and I didn’t have to mess with it anymore. It’s definitely a pain but I’d enjoy the hand pulling. It’ll take it. Hope this helps. Thanks again.
Really fast response, haha thanks. I was afraid you were going to say that. But I guess if I want the lawn I have to put the work in. Thanks again. And thanks for all you do.
Appreciate you. I would usually put it down the second or third week of September then again around the first of January. That'll keep ya covered until the spring application in March. Hope this helps. Thank you.
Thanks to you sir, I have one of the better lawns in my neighborhood. Keep up the good work and we still need your guidance post season. Stay safe out there!
You mentioned first week of September for fertilizer. Is that not too early guess I always thought to wait later in the fall?also, How soon after would you overseed
Bermuda should not be fertilized too late in the fall. Late August, early September is generally a good time. If you’re wanting to overseed Bermuda, here are my thoughts on that…th-cam.com/video/3pjkfnHSjZQ/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
@@BudgetLawns oh my apologies i guess I should have mentioned I live in Canada and have cool season lawn and I have Perennial Ryegrass, Creeping Red Fescue Kentucky Bluegrass type of grass. Would I still need to fertilize first week September?
Depends on how your lawn is doing coming out of summer. If it needs a little help kickstarting to repair, you may want to throw some down mid August to mid September, weather permitting. Then maybe another round 4-6 weeks later.
Great fall tips! No bio solid for me either this year that stuff has gotten way expensive! Pre emergent in the fall last year reduced my POA way down from the previous year. Looking forward to fall!

Thank you. Awesome job by you and your husband this summer. Glad I've been able to help through the videos, but y'all put in all the hard work. That's what matters, so keep it up. Appreciate you sharing your story and supporting the channel.
Bravo!!
I hear you, same here.

Absolutely great advice!
Much appreciated!

I appreciate the information. Always important to know what's next so the planning can begin!
Exactly!
Nice video. Always learn something here. Thanks for the tips
Awesome. Glad to hear that. Thanks so much for watching and supporting the channel.
Perfect timing. I was just looking at the calendar and looking at my last fertilizer applications and pre emergent applications.

Love the hat.. Buddy of mines dad started that lol
Yeah buddy. An NWA original. Thanks man.
Which pre emergent do you recommend?
I like Spectracide Weed Stop for Lawns Plus Crabgrass Preventer.
I see you have a gorilla cart back there I love those. Much better than using a wheelbarrow in my opinion
I'm right there with you. It made my landscaping projects so much more doable. Every lawn fan's garage should have one for sure. Thanks man!
Your lawn is looking awesome! Definitely motivating me.
Thank you. Really pleased with how far it’s come in one season with so little put into it. Mowing is key.

Hey Travis. Long time listener. If u were at the old lawn when would you recommend putting pre emergent down in Arkansas?

Im planning on doing an overseed up here in the north. Do you think that 10-10-10 fertilizer is good to use as a starter fertilizer?
May want to get one labeled as a starter fert. It’ll give you the more ideal ratios you’ll need. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
