I like the unspoken rules around goalies. Players are never to touch the goalie, but if a goalie engages in a scrap, the other goalie must engage that goalie.
Must engage the other goalie! 😆 🤣 😂
Can't have a man advantage
The Biron-Emery rule
AA
only guy allowed to hit the goalie is the other goalie is how i looked at it
4:13 The way papa miller protecting baby stetcher makes my heart warm.
LOL YEA SAME BRUH.
I miss miller man..
@@NLSNcs
If Luongo is a hall of famer, Ryan Miller should be also.

Still laughing about Anderson and Miller talking like good old friends while everyone else is fighting😂
I wouldn't go out of my way to fight Andersen. 6'4 238lbs. He's massive in every sense of the word.
Looks like he's telling Andersen why he went after Martin
@@alexleblanc5926 And telling him to be a man and drop the gloves instead trying to throw punches with his blocker on.

"Why'd you mix it up with them?"
"He's the rookie man, and come on, your guy kinda blindsided my guy, went after him."
"Alright, I gotchu I gotchu."
-The watered-down version of the convo
I love how 5:32 looks like Sutton telling Stetcher "No, hang back, we got this" Right before he and Sutter dive into the fight
I'm sure u mean Hutton cuz he was the one pulling Stetcher back
When the goalies are civilised and talk out their problems while everyone else has a brawl 😂😂
That was the best one.
I'm glad they don't allow fighting on the same scale in the national league of my country. I don't see it as part of the sport at all. But it's so engraved into the North American hockey culture, it's here to stay.
@@RemyConst They use fighting to let them take out their anger or they would just use dirty hits instead which is more dangerous.
@@roosterneckgang2048 i dont think thats the reason, there isnt more dirty hits in european leagues, even tho they dont fight.
@@RemyConst it makes it more interesting
I like how the other Goalie comes out just to fight with Miller for a few seconds then they're just shooting the shit @4:59 while all the other players keep fighting. I like in general in the NHL how if one Goalie gets involved, the other one is usually like "fuck it, why not"
I always thought it was a rule.
@@m1t2a1 somewhat of an unwritten one, if one goalie gets involved and the other doesnt one team will have a man advantage in the brawl

Why are goalies like the mothers of hockey?
Well most teams need that goalie cause he’s the only one. So it’s a big deal if you hit someone’s goalie
Funny
Reality :/ there’s 2 dumb ass
@@jhawk1116 they have 2 goalies and one on emergency call. that would be like going into a NFL game with no back up QB lol and just your one starter
mother's?
id say more like a little brother, always backing up the team, a little bit crazy, always trying to steal the spotlight and ready to fight when he needs to. definitely someone who deserves protection
@@davrogrz5286 I agree
After playing hockey for over 8 years hockey has taught me a few things that I have taken with me into other sports and it’s protect your goalie, stick up for the small guy, and if someone initiates a fight you don’t walk away you accept the fight and hold your own
I can't do that I've broken one of these helmets with just my fist you really think that will be a good idea for me to cave in a fuckers head

Wasn’t really a scoring chance
Ngl I do love a good hockey fight but I have a lot of respect for him for not fighting back
He created an odd man rush for the other team but he tried lol, amazing he even got up and played the puck.
it’s so cool seeing him as a rookie when he’s captain nowadays
The ref with his hand on his hip at 1:09 just reminds me of a single mom handeling her kids at a Costco like, “not this again”
Ryan Miller, the veteran goaltender, defending rookies? DAMN!

So? I don't even like the guy but there's more to a professional athletes career and legacy than "that one time....".
It was funny seeing Miller and the other goalie fighting
A few seconds later:just having a causally chat
Especially how the other goalie originally tried to go at miller and then miller and the ref seemed to be like “no we’re fine, we’re not fighting bro” and the other goalie just stopped and they started chatting instead
It’s Andersen!!!! The Big dane. Not “the other goalie”

CroissantKing 27 pretty much LMAO
CroissantKing 27 are the wild rivals with the canucks?
Austin Hunt not really since they are in different divisions and don't face off often.
How else can we get at least 70 points in a season? It's nearly damn impossible.
Goalies are like the moms of the rink. The Captains are the dads. And everyone else are their kids. Goalies tend to stay back, unless they sees a rookie and or man get jumped on his side, then he's gonna come charging in like a freight train from hell. Or if he sees a man down and a scuffle is happening over him. He's going to use his body to guard the downed man since he's padded a lot more .
Captains tend to stay back unless they have to come in. They're like the gentle "Come on guys really?"
Just look at a lot of the goalie fights, everyone stops because it's like "yo wtf, why are they fighting??"
Captains and big goal guys are more like the baby sister u dont touch, enforcers are the dads but u still have big brother on the ice that's not happy. The smaller scrapers ready to go.....
@@SMA2343 exactly - separated by 200 feet of ice throughout the game, what the f could motivate those two to fight? Have to shout pretty loud just to get a clear insult across all that ice, too. Maybe they feel left out?

Unless they just take a good hockey hit, then you follow the rules and don't start fights for no reason. Such garbage. Punch someone for a cheap shot, but grow up and learn a lesson of someone legally cleans you off.
Facts
@@drsch No you still drop the gloves. Yes the hit is clean, but you will see will see your guys take far less big hits if they know they will have to pay for it. Not just that but it shows your teammate that you have his back and many times can fire him up and turn the momentum back in your teams favor.

NBC has hockey and usually the local sports channel
TURK nbc is national tv, but it’s always on in your areas TV
TURK right now only nbc has rights for nationally televised games. That’s because they won a exclusive 10 year deal in 2011 beating out espn, so the only other national tv deals are I think 2 networks in Canada. But there are regional networks, some are regional fox networks, regional nbc, etc

I like how the goalies at 5:11 are just sitting there chatting.
I don’t know why, but the way McCabe is standing at 5:49 looks so sick, like he’s kinda backing up but also looking down at Laine
When I was a kid, I always thought it would be so easy to get cut by a skate, especially in a fight. I figured it must happen all the time in the NHL and CHL.
But it literally NEVER happens.

Best thing Lucic has done in an Oilers jersey
Ed0n lol you know it. 6 million dollar man.
Wasn't even a cheap shot by Engelland, just a hockey play. There is a time to protect your skilled players but also, they need to be able to take a hit or two or else you end with whiners like Crosby who think they should never have to play physical.

Such a bitch lol
every clip gets even funnier when you see whoever got hit just get up and awkwardly watch like a kid watching their parent get in a road rage argument
Do protecting Veteran players
It's Snazz yes!!!
Doughty's hit was beautiful, the rookie should get his ass handed to him for keeping his head down. So glad that is starting to go away. Cheap hits are one thing, good, clean, hard checks are another.
As an aussie (who doesn't know hockey) a lot of these look like legit clean hits. Specially McCabe #29 that was just beautiful timing, if this was rugby league the crowed would have loved it and the game would have not stopped. Usually only dog shots start fights
Problem with hockey is that everything is hard. Ice is hard, boards are hard, sticks and puck are hard, someone falls they fall into or onto a hard surface. Someone falls in rugby they fall onto a body or the ground, both of which won't cause concussions when landed on. That first shot could send someone to the emergency room, that's why boarding is a penalty. In rugby it would be a painted line.
@@Lappelduvideify NRL banned the shoulder charge basically due to too many concussions. Whilst i hear what you mean i think i always look at it like this. The reason we love these sports is because of these types of plays. There not new - same with nrl. Its exciting. Thats why their paid millions and loved by more. Thats why us mere mortals watch from the sidelines. You have to be skilled and tough. Its not for everybody. We have touch rugby if the real thing is too rough for you.. I hate that all sports are banning fights and or rough plays.
@@adambennett1193The NHL’s not banning fighting or hits or they’d lose 95% of their fan base. What you see in this video is head shots, charging or boarding which are all things you can’t do in hockey. Do it to a seasoned player and it will probably start a small fight with someone sticking up for their guy but you can’t do that to a rookie you’re gonna regret it.
But stuff like this is part of the sport. Fighting is allowed and even with a legal hit the players might still choose to fight. It’s part of the game
The Laine hit was basically a suicide pass it reminds me of one time where I was about to deck some kid but he cycled it back so I decked the other kid instead and was shocked he would even do that to his teammate because he knew I was there
Speaking as a hockey player, I wish players would suck it up more readily. I mean, if it's a cheap shot, that's one thing, but if you take a clean hit, or a teammate takes a clean hit, get on with the game! It's HOCKEY, getting hit is part of the game.
Back in the day, when hit was ilegal, hockey was beautiful sport. Now its still great, but it switched from playing the puck to playing the player. It just favours defense and thats not good change from my perspective.
boumi888 fighting is and always was illegal. It was against the rules then as it is now. You get penalties for fighting. It happens and it always has. I don’t know what you’re talking about back in the day
@@KevAlberta I was talking about "clean hit" which wasnt alowed "back in the day". Not about fighting which was allways ilegal.
BTW hit is also refered as checking.

Fighting in Hockey is soooooo boring
European hockey is far better to watch
if you want to see good fighting go watch UFC
My favorite is when a meatball hockey announcer describes a flying elbow to the jaw of an opposing player as a "clean hockey hit."
NHL: Saving Rookie Ryan
I’ve only ever been too one Hockey match in my entire life when I was 13 with my Dad too go watch Canada vs USA in my hometown of Brisbane, Australia and in my honest opinion nothing compares too the skill set required for ice hockey. I couldn’t believe the synchronisation of each player. I’ve always grown up idolising more team orientated sports like hockey, soccer, basketball and my nation’s home sport of AFL for most of my life. But nothing compares too the sacrifice, skill, elegance and sheer brutality of this sport. I will never forget the atmosphere in the arena that night, and when a Canadian seated behind me threw his beer all over me in a blood fueled rage screaming “fookin drop your gloves ya blind sighting cunt” when his fellow countrymen got injured and were at war on the ice swinging for the fences, I knew I had just discovered a new sport that personified the meaning of mate ship and loyalty. Which every Australian prides himself in. I will one day attend a Stanley Cup Final match and relive that feeling all over again. Love Hockey, Love Life.
Huge respect for Miller going after POS Matt Martin for jumping Troy Stetcher who is way smaller. Also notice Miller drops his gloves instead of what a lot of goalies do and throw punches with their blockers on like Anderson did when he came down the ice.

The Leafs vs Canucks fight will always be my favourite 😂
The Canucks vs flames brawl was another good one. Both sent out their 4th line to start the game if I remember
Wasn't the flames game that one where the flames sent all their goons out first, and it got to the point where Bieksa had to take the faceoff because he was the only one on the canuck line that wasn't gonna get bullied?
We allways had two simple rules in our team… just like everybody has in ice hockey.
You touch one of our goalies, you choose death.
And if you hit our rookies, we gonna make you leave in a ambulance.

That open ice hit on Laine was insane
From a non hockey fan I love how these fights have a thousand thrown punches and about four actually land.
When people ask me why I love Hockey more than any other sport, I always say: "It's the only sport where a code of honor takes priority over the rulebook."
Players risk their playtime/careers/health for each-other on a daily basis. If you take away physical retaliation from The Game, a mere 5 minute penalty is all that protects someone from being permanently injured via dirty play, protect your own the way you wish to be protected. Fighting keeps Hockey safe.
