Thank you so much for this video btw. This is the kind of event that makes people give up on fish keeping.

I did a routine water change last winter and it wiped out all my rainbows in one swoop. My tetras and corys were fine. It took the stocking down to about 3 fish. I left it like that until about 2 weeks ago when i started stocking up rainbow’s because i missed them. I 100% relate to this

I couldn’t agree more with your video. For the second time in 15 years I have had EXACTLY what you described happen to my rainbow fish. Total wipe out. All other much much more sensitive fish in the tank are just fine. And in a week ten dead rainbows. Heartbreaking. Absolutely no explanation. Literally have other fish spawning in the tank as I scoop out dead rainbows each day.

What was the reason that they died?

I’m glad you addressed this Paul as not many retailers would admit to this .I had a great set up of 35 or 40 in a 8 ft tank and over a period of 6 months lost 95% of them. I found the fish to suffer ulcers on mouths sides and dropsy as the main symptoms and after researching fish tb seems to be rife in asian breeding facilities where a-lot of our imported fish come from. I still have a few left which seem to have recovered and became immune to the infection but I am reluctant now to torture myself again and restock.
I found weekly water changes of 30% was slowing the infection rate but could not sustain this longterm. Water parameters were always good .
But I would say I introduced the disease with newly purchased fish.

Thank you for this video. I just lost my school of mixed rainbows that I loved. Some were raised from babies. Althought I have had this happen in the past, this time I think I know what contributed to it.
My school went down from 30 to 10 in a year. Usually they live for at least 6 years. I raised some from babies. My family and animals were all suffering terribly with severe problems traced back to the cell tower near us.
We got remediation boxes and we ALL began to have fantastic results. After 3 months. No deaths at all of the fish. Our other animals stopped dying. We were doing a LOT better physically.
Then the idiots came by with flatbeds and built the #$#%# tower up to kingdom come. At one point, we were all unable to walk. Animals getting ill again and yes, the parasites began to hit the rainbows again.
We got more boxes, but the tower was built up so intensely it will take many more boxes to compensate enough and it is not cheap.
My fish were clumping in the corner before they got ill and I got grounding stickers meant for people (aka earthing style sticky patches) and within a day the fish were all hanging out near the patch. I put another on, but it was too late.
I moved the 2 remaining fish to smaller tanks for now until I can try one more time. Hopefully the grounding patches will offset the damage done by the $%#& cell towers which have put us all through hell.
Other times losing the school of rainbows was often traced to new fish or decor, but this time, because of evidence of damage to all living things in my home, I am convinced it is from what was done to us this time, especially as the fish reacted to the grounding patches.
EDIT-I INSTALLED A UV LIGHT PUMP AND IT BROUGHT THE PARASITE LOAD DOWN!!
This is very exciting and I am so happy to have found something to help along with grounding the tank.

I want to add in my research it has been found that high emf emissions will increase parasitic infestations in humans and animals as well as fish. Plants also will exhibit attacks from parasites more than usual.

From my experience the Rainbows are pretty resilient. I have one that at some point have develop an fungal infection in one of his eyes. I don't have a quarantine tank and i have lots of fish that are sensible to medication, like corydoras and ghostknife fish, so i did not use any medication or salt. I was like "great, i raise that fish for 3 years and now is gone lose an eye", but that was not the case as he heal himself and now is in his fifth year of life. I never seen another species of fish that can fight fungal infection w/o any treatment whatsoever.

@@MajesticAquariumsTV Well, there is a video of the tank on my channel. As for the water, you are not far off, someone who is in the hobby for decades once told me: "you take care of the water, the fish will take care of themselves".

They are amazing and really delicate fish so they need more attention. I remember a few years ago one of first rainbowfish was sick so I tried to treat it in the same tank by adding melafix in the tank and boy I end up killing almost all of my rainbowfish that same day because of lack of experience. I think about 12 of them died I end up with 2 left. It was very devastating

I’ve lost a bunch of my favourite rainbows twice now that were a few years old, amazing colours and really big - Lake Teberas, Lake Kutubus, Lake Wanams, Lake Kurumois - I was absolutely gutted. No idea why I’m afraid, water was fine, nothing changed one of the times, the second time I’d introduced two Bosemanis that both died along with 3 of my existing ones, always happens overnight so I figured something was going wrong with the filter. But only the rainbows that went. At one point I had two filters running just in case. Seeing your video has made me feel a bit better as I know now it’s not just me ☹️
It’s 5am and having to do a constant watch until I can get to the fish shop later this morning, had problems with my other tank and had to transfer the remaining ones into the tank with the rainbows. 😱 Temporarily overstocked while I try to cycle the crashed tank again and they’re all struggling 🤦🏻‍♂️

I always have 2 filters running on all tanks and my rainbows got a gill infection. I believe it was parasites, but outside problems with emfs from cell towers have been torturing every living person and creature where I live now. Emfs raise the rate of parasites in people, plants and animals.

I have had one large Boesemani that was all blue ( I called him big blue) die when new non Rainbow fish had something..
I try to now grab new fish out of the bag and put them in the tank..and not add water from the dealers tank. A small help I think. But mostly it's been the Rainbows who have stayed healthy when other fish died. I would say Rainbows are far hardier than tetras or Angelfish or Apistogramma.
The key is keep them with fish from similar habitats..not sure why,but most of the time faster minnow types and stream fish are great co inhabitants. Rasboras and Barbs work better than tetras or small cichlids. Maybe the no stress of everybody on the same fish habitat page helps.

I've lost 2 millennial, 1 Turquoise, 3 bosmani. No females ever lasted more then a month. They didnt all get sick and die at one time. It was random.
Still living 2 Turquoise, 1 bosmani, 2 yellow, 4 gord, 2 Parkinson. They are just to beautiful and friendly to give up on.

That is happening to me now. Have had a 75 gallon with rainbows 6 years. I do weekly water changes and water perimeters are fine. This week I’ve been loosing 2-4 a day. Other breeds of fish are perfect. Just my rainbows are dying. I’m so upset!! I’ve spent a lot of time and money on them. It has to be a disease of some sort.😪

Just FYI. I've had a few random sickness deaths. But never more then one at a time. I do not change my water as I should. I have a double size filter system and suck the bottom once a month then add water. I also have real plants. My fish are big and strong. Except one who I bought because he was small and deformed.

Haven't encountered this in about 12 years keeping Rainbow's. Most of mine have lived about 6 years or so. Could they be susceptible to a disease coming from fish in our water supply? I never ever add water to my tank until it has been stored at least 4 days in a wheelie bin.

Recently Florida had a cold front and I wasn’t prepared with heaters and the cold shock left a few of my Chilatherina alleni with weak systems and lost 3 fish to what seemed to be gill fluke or bacterial infection. Tried treating but with no successs

Been keeping these for years and have seen some stuff! Years ago I managed to get Camallanus in some tanks and it literally took me several years to figure out. Generally they are not hard to keep. Tell me some basic things you have been doing especially water changes and PH. I have had an issue or two years ago and treated with antibiotics that worked. Can't remember right now but can look it up.

    • @crazy4color869
      @crazy4color869 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I had a combination of antibiotics work one time, but then It began to happen again and this time nothing worked. I am pretty experienced in fish keeping. The problem is now traced to emf increases from local cell towers, although others I know have the same problem with local solar farms and wind turbines. This is very real and no one talks about it.

    • @robertbaker3174
      @robertbaker3174 ปีที่แล้ว

@@crazy4color869 Wow. Didn't even know anything about that. I'm not close to any towers fortunately. I had everything under the sun happening until I got rid of the nematodes. I never seen them until I boxed some fish to be sent off to a lab. I am guessing that because of being sick they kept getting a myriad of things until they were treated.

I have a large rainbow larger than any in the video. He is a jerk. Chases the female all over the tank. Despite lots of line of sight obstruction. Only thing keep him in check is I have a great danio that distracts him from time to time.

Dude, this is not old age. I am a VERY experienced fish keeper. What he is talking about is very real and he is correct. You might feel all confident in mocking him now, but sooner or later, so,etching like this will happen to you that you can not explain be it with fish or other life experiences.
