Hello @Bing's Acadademy, you may or may not remember me, but I was one of the people who had covid on the last week, luckily selective was postponed. I have recently gotten the result for selective and I have gotten into Hurlstone Agricultural High School! I would like to say thank you to you as you helped me learn a lot of things!
Congratulations, I was hoping to get into Hurlstone but only managed to get onto the reserve list as an F band. I'm planning on retaking the test and starting tutoring as soon as possible to maximise my chances of getting in. Bing's Academy seems very trustworthy and great so I'll try it.
for me, i was able to land an interview into sths, fortstreet denied but i really thought i had sths in the bag. I failed both entrys, quite unfortunate. i mean selective schools won't alter my atar/hsc much wont it?
sorry to hear. it just depends on your current school. the biggest benefit of selective is that basically everyone is quite 'bright' so it helps quite a lot in the hsc/atar. Although if your current school is already comparable in ranking, you are fine
Unfortunate that they don’t give a score they give a percentage of what your in. I wanted to get a score to see how much I got and see what to improve in
totally agree! the bands are huge so they don't give much information at all. Although if you got any in the bottom 2 bands, that is an indication you can work on it! You won't need thinking skills again though as that won't be assessed.
I was hoping to make it into Hurlstone but I only managed to get into Moorebank, I got put in the reserve list on the F band for hurlstone so I'm pretty sure I won't get into Hurlstone
that is totally okay! You could also try to transfer into hurlstone in year 7-10 if that was your primary goal. Congratulations for Moorebank though :)
@@coloncrawler43 nice! only issue with hurlstone is that they don't have additional class in later years. So that means there is only a spot available when someone leaves the school making it more difficult. but hey - not impossible!
Is there a way to get in a selective school after year 7 because I am a international student who came after the test was conducted. Ik im smart enough to crack in but I don't really know how to?
@@mariawang8678 ahh you are correct! 'Students must be Australian or New Zealand citizens or permanent residents of NSW. ' I thought it would be different in highschool transferring.
I might've got reserve for my dream school and accepted into my other two schools if I hadn't screwed up Thinking Skills, oh well, everything has a reason, this might turn out to be the best thing for me in the future. And hey at least I get to go to high school with all my friends :D
@@BingsAcademy yup! I think not being separated from them will honestly be the best for me in the long course, most of the kids at my school are going to the same school so my first year of high school won't be completely alien at least
Right now, I am in Year 10 and I remember crying that I didn't get into selective highschool when I was in year 6 but I still pushed on. There has been some struggles but I got to where I'm in a very stable place in terms of grade. I am in well-respected highschool in Canberra and am aiming to get into ANU into a medical field. Just a tip, if you didn't get into whatever school you want to get into, it is fine. Keep working and you may find a better one. Also, if you are here Bing, do you have any tips and/or resources on ICAS exams. I'm doing english, maths and science and the first one is tomorrow. Thanks!
Heya! I am overseas so I don’t have access to my normal account for the channel but I would say to be smart when answering the questions. They get progressively more difficult so you want to not allocate the same amount of time per question. This will allow to all tests for ICAS except writing of course.
Does having a report with mostly B's but having an extremely strong extra-curricular and academic awards necessarily get rid of your chances of transferring to a partially selective School? And if you score well on the entrance exam is it still possible?
Hey bing, I have applied for hurlstone this selective exam in this year, can you reply with a link with mathematics. Before I sucked at both mathematics and thinking skills but now i have perfected thinking skills and I just need maths now. Would be much help! (pls respond with links)
Assuming affordability is not an issue. They seem to be performing a lot better than your regular public schools not in just on terms of academic performance but also co curricular activities such as sport and music as well.
if you missed out on closing date, the chances are you won't be able to do the test. It is unfortunate because entry to year 8-11 is even more competitive compared to year 7 entry as there are much fewer spots.
@@BingsAcademy What do you mean by more competetive. Also I'm so lucky my dad applied it without telling me. Except he made me do Sydney Tech even though I wanted to go to Caringbah but it's still a school.
@@_Squeaks nice! glad you can still attempt the test. it is more competitive compared to year 7 entry because there is generally much fewer places available. Year 7, the entire grade is possible for students to get in. For year 8, there is only a spot if someone leaves.

i wanted to go hurlstone but only manged to get Elizbeth MacArthur, even my own tutor thought i would get at least reserve for hurlstone
it might be a good idea to try to transfer since your school is a bit below average based on its ranking.

Yeah. Selective schools help but if you just work hard you can get into whatever uni or job u want too. Trust
I'm Year 6 right now I haven't done by selective high school but can you do some tips and tricks for 2024?
I may make a video for this year but the tricks and tips from previous years would help too!
