    Thanks for the advice, mate! I installed the same chin curtain and because I could not find a thick enough velcro tape, I used 3x6 mm 3M Seal/Sound dampening tape, wich I applied all around the faceopening. It seals perfectly and is even weatherproof. Now the Bullitt is as quit as it can get..at least like my Bell Eliminator. Thanks again, your video made driving with this helmet so much more enjoyable! Greetings from Germany

    I have a Bell Bullitt and like it for what it is - an uncomplicated throwback to ‘70s and early ‘80s styling. For longer rides or touring, I have other helmets more suited to the task. If you have to have the Bell Bullitt as your one and only helmet, then these mods are great. But IMHO, they take away from the clean retro aesthetic and simplicity that make the Bullitt’s design so attractive.
    Also, providing your viewers more information about the items you used to modify the helmet would’ve been more helpful (i.e. manufacturer, model etc).

    For those who are wondering about breath deflector - it’s Icon Airframe Pro / Airmada Helmet Breath Deflector. My question is: did you have to cut/trim/modify the deflector before inserting it or did you manage to insert it in original form? Thanks

    The back exhaust vent is where I was getting all my wind noise. I just removed the liner and plugged the hole, now it’s very quiet. Initially thought it was the visor making noise but I was wrong.

  • @byopedro
    @byopedro ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I had the same problem with wind noise, however I found that by holding my arm on top of the helmet that it completely stopped the whistling., the same being if I tilted my head slightly upwards. So I can only put it down to the air extraction slit at the back of the helmet causing most of the whistling.I also velcro'ed completely around my visor instead of the helmet, which also helped a lot.

      Ya know. I wish I could say it worked wonders... But really, it only made it manageable, because it was unbearable before. I just went for another ride today and thought about the noise. And my verdict is- I can't wait to get another helmet. This is not a good helmet for a daily rider. The cardo system is great, but the helmet really doesn't do it justice. My ears ring after every ride because of the vacuum noise in the helmet. My body temp runs hot, so I enjoy the continued ventilation, and have never felt water leak in when it rains, but I am over the noisiness.
      I'll try to do more vids. Thanks for the feedback. I've just been very busy lately. Good luck with your Bullit.

    BEHIND the ears! That's just ridiculous. I found out the same only after buying the helmet. Looking for advice/guide on cutting out new holes for the speakers. I presume you had to cut the plastic before getting to the EPS. Any problems with that plastic after you cut it (e.g. sticking out, rubbing your head, etc.)? I wish you made a video showing how you did it. Mind making a quick video showing how your new cutouts look and explaining what tools you used and possibly what advice you might have?

    • @h2otoad
      @h2otoad  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I will one day make another video. Seems like lots of folk want to see how to do this. But, it's really not that difficult. I removed the cheek pads, put the helmet on, and then marked where my ears actually were inside the helmet. Then I placed the speaker on the EPS foam and traced out a circle just a bit larger than the speaker. I started removing foam with an Xacto knife little by little to a point at wich the speakers were set in deep enough to not press on my ears too much, but also not be too far away from them as well. I'm not sure what the plastic part you are referring to is. Once you remove the cheek pads, the only bit left is the foam. Glad to help more if you have any questions.

    • @airoilcool
      @airoilcool 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my helmet there's like a thin plastic cover above EPS foam in that area. I'll take a picture later in broad daylight.

    I've never really had an issue with wind noise with my Bullit, but the shell itself is loud. Tapping the shell, and even the resonance from my bike's exhaust, is so much louder than it seems like it should be. I assume this is due to the combo of the shell and the hard foam and very little softer materials to deaden the sound. I don't have the same issue with my Bell Eliminator or my Bell Moto 3

    Can you explain how did you go about relocating the speakers?

    • @h2otoad
      @h2otoad  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Mantis. To relocate the speakers, I removed the cheek pads and then pinpointed where I wanted the speakers to be. After locating the spot I needed them in, I dug out the Styrofoam to the size of the speaker itself, around the location I just marked. I used an exacto knife to do this. I did this at 2-3 different depths until I got it just right. If it is not deep enough it will press to much on the outer ear and cause irritation. If it's too deep it'll be too far away from the ear. I like it close and almost touching my ear, it tends to lessen the surrounding wind noise for me. Once I had it right, I installed the speakers into the pockets of the cheek pads only enough to get them to line up with the new holes I dug into the Styrofoam. Then I put it all back together and tried it out. Worked great. I hope it does the same for you as well. Glad to answer any other questions you have.
