I remember when I started playing Ragnaork back in the 00s and on my first day someone was throwing away all their items and equipments and a crowd of players were trying to pick them up. I menage to pick 3 of them, one being the Excalibur (a sword that needs the same quest to get). At that time I didnt think too much of that sword, used it as any other sword when I became a crusader. Only now I know how rare that thing was. I cant even understand how someone menage to get such item on a oficial server on a classic ragnarok. Pretty ironic that one of the rarest items on that server fell into the hands of someone who didnt have a clue lol.

Lvl4 Weapon acquisition quest in RO is one of the dumbest designs I've seen in online gaming.
Travel distances aside, it is a small price to pay for obtaining some of the most powerful weapons in the game. With that said, considering having to farm 90 items (toying with the RNG of them actually dropping off the RARE enemies), having to then toy with RNG of some guessing-game, which MAY remove 30 of the aforementioned items, albeit 66% chance of success, leaving it to another 50/50 chance of it actually being the Weapon that you wanted, meaning it is from start this quest, to finishing it, a 33% chance than you will obtain it. 😑 The quest WAS added to the game, before I left the game, but many of the enemies that actually dropped the items, were not in game, that is to say, they WERE coded in, but had no official spawns, but people were always crafty with ways to make them appear anyway (e.g. Dead Brances) or other exploits. I wanted Excalibur for my Knight, but I would've gone absolutely nuts back then, gathering/buying x3 30 "unobtainable" items, only to lose some, on a _guessing game._

you may say "dumbest" but for me is magical achievement in RO world. :) rate x1, just few days patch of rebirth episode and 10-15k server players on that time is every challenging on completing the materials needed. the small chance % getting the drop item (materials) and CK quest giving me the best memories of the MMORPG. @@jajasaria It probably also needs to be said, that I had left the game 11 *years* before this video was even made. I haven't looked up how much more convenient it has become to obtain the items. Going through my roughly 15-year old screenshots, I think the most I had... was 2 Muscovites, after months and months of leveling and coming across Mini-bosses along the way.
Videos I've seen years later, shows there are maps where these "mini-bosses" I mentioned, have been demoted to common, difficult enemies, which tells me that players can farm them for as long as they desire, instead of waiting 30 minutes for 1 enemy to spawn, with I believe 20% chance of dropping a single item. That's why I was calling the rock-paper-scissor part 'dumb', when factoring in the limitations on these items, roughly 15 years ago. 🤷‍♂

@@DanielRenardAnimation oh those years, early Ro years(2003) i didnt even get lvl 99 before i quit.(2006) Heheh dont get me wrong and i truly understand your point. It really sucks and imposible to complete even small quest. I remember "boys cap" is the legendary headgear during those times. Heheh happy to hear and talk those years with u. Thats only proves that we love this game and cant get over after many many years pass. This feeling that only fellow RO players will truly understand

The dev knew they fckd up with this quest, they make it as MVP drop in next patch
Hell even in renewal they make it as mob drop😂
