      @@LewisLittle66 I totally feel you. I got wrapped up in the frenzy of wanting to find the unicorn ones that work with fountain pens... until I realized its madness. Just buy a fountain pen friendly notebook instead. Sigh... many mistakes made... thanks for sharing!

    Really thought provoking and useful video Linda. 👏🏻👏🏻 I’m generally pretty self aware about these things but I know that Mystery Boxes, and Limited Edition (in certain brands) are my weaknesses. So I have consciously unsubscribed from many emails and business IG accounts so that I don’t see them until I stumble across an unboxing for example, by which time I see the reveal and rarely have non-buyers regret. I also give my self a budget limit and stick to it.
    My biggest impulse buy regret ever…was not stationery, but I had my makeup done for a wedding at Chanel and they had a moisturiser that they used on my skin. It felt amazing, it made my skin look amazing, it smelt amazing, the packaging was gorgeous and I bought it without asking the price 🫣 so so so many regrets. $500 worth of regrets. I didn’t buy any makeup for 5 years to compensate for that mistake, and it still haunts me…I did have stunning skin there for about 3 months though 🙄

      OMG, luxury brands can be soooo pricey! I have learned to always ask the price, because it can be a regret for sure. Yowsers! Lesson learned. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. I definitely am unsubscribing to many things... because it is just too tempting!

    Aww. I was hoping you would show some product and enable me 😢. Kidding not kidding. This was an amazing video and you hit all my shopping weaknesses right on the nail. You kept my attention even though I was looking at a note pad the entire time. I took a screenshot and am going to print and hang it somewhere visible so I can challenge myself the next time I am enticed into a shopping frenzy. TYSM and going for the JOMO instead of the FOMO. I was actually waiting for the items you bought under those categories. 😂😂 But tbh out of all the creators who talked about their regrets, I find your style and perspective much more real and relatable.
    If I may add, the factor of a big sale can also add to my regret. I guess it can overlap a bit with scarcity? For me I get a huge urge to want to buy when my favorite stationery brands have seasonal sales, especially end-of-year sales. Thankfully, I have managed to stay away. 😅 The ones that really make me have regrets is when my mental health is shot. It's during those times when I tell myself "you deserve this" after bouts of depression. That's when my rationale can sometimes fly out the window. 😅

    • @tortagialla
      @tortagialla  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. I COULD rant about all my regrets but it seemed more depressing than helpful :(
      I do think there can be multiple reasons or triggers with purchasing regrets, so thank you for sharing more. I am writing them down!
      SALES are probably a big one for me too... like too good of deal... ugh! It takes a lot of self-control but I have to think if it's only because of the deal or will it really be something I would use or have bought anyway.
      And then the mental health, treat yo' self and RETAIL THERAPY kind of thing is big too... sometimes you need that easy hit of dopamine. My thought is to try and have a list of other things I could do to help myself instead of shop... because it usually is exhilarating in the moment, but then I crash afterwards and feel bad. So it might do more harm than good. It makes me think of like outlet sales when you are in person and get into the heat of the moment... oif.
      I'm making this list and feel that I need to use it like a checklist to think through before buying something. Thanks again!

    This was really interesting! And I am guilty of all these things. The amount of things I have still in original packaging is embarrassing sometimes. But buying it brought me joy at the moment at least. I've been trying to implement "If you buy it, you have to open it and start using it TODAY" and that has help me control my purchases a little.
