I listened to this whole album nonstop when I was pregnant with my daughter in New Mexico in '06", this album will always have a special meaning to me, and be close to my heart.
great version of this song! It was the song that me and my dad danced too. It was the song . the only song he would dance with me at my wedding together for our daughter/ dad dance!
the most beautiful music everr...american peoples should learn to love this kind of voice and songs...corrs are the most talented band in the world....
great version! Danced with my dad to this song at my wedding . He would have loked this version! Non tradtional song to dance to but that was our song at all dances!!! Love the song!!!
Cruachan made avery impressive version of this song...But Anyway..This song is good whoever will cover it. The Dubliners are classic, The Corrs are sweet, Cruachan are really folkish - sounds like you are in the forest and Centaurs playing that song....
hm.... beautiful voice, but i prefer a more traditional version myself.... I feel they make it to much of a pop song.... it is a very tender song about longing for crying out loud and i feel that some of that gets lost in this version.......
This is the worst version ever of Spancil Hill! The Corrs have cut the essential last verse, the climax: "I dreamt I held and kissed her as in the days of yore She said, “Johnny you’re only joking like many’s the time before” The cock crew in the morning, he crew both loud and shrill And I woke in California, many miles from Spancil Hill." - and the young Irish emigrant who wrote it, Michael Considine, died that same year, 1873, in California. He was just 23 years old. (So it should be sung by a man.) Listen to Christy Moore singing the complete song on his "Prosperous" album.
Owen Nugent why complaining about new songs with new style ? it's not the same as the old irish song and it can't be. It's neither an insult nor a shame, it's something else. Great and talented.
Irish songs, your history, your culture all so sublime

Best performance ever!

really nice song .
Never heard that before...
Nice song...
I like this version. And just cause nobody said it yet, Dropkick Murphy's Fairmount Hill was good as well.

I'd like them to do a video of this song and black is the colour ♥*
Nice music L(*OεV*)E
Try Planxty if you want to hear it in an Irish accent
its a decent version of it
@tonkanamagarcu where in the name of goodness, did she acquire that yanky twang ??? A wee bit too hip-hoppish and sweet for me.
@GeorgeLcorr The Rakes of Kildare
Who knows the name of the instumental part that starts at 3.38??
+Yolie OLD HAG in the same cd
+Julián Garrido Thanks but that's not what i meant. But i already found out the tunes name! It's called "The rakes of Kildare....Nice!
I think its a violin and tin whistle.
whats the tune after???
they should have swapped johnny and meg cuz of the female singer
hm.... beautiful voice, but i prefer a more traditional version myself.... I feel they make it to much of a pop song.... it is a very tender song about longing for crying out loud and i feel that some of that gets lost in this version.......
my LORD this is an awful version, check out shane mcgowan and christy moore, and me myself of course,
Hardly
i think it should be sung by a man... and this is overproduced.
I prefer the Dubliner's version to be honest. No offense

What's with Andrea's faux American accent?? It's annoying!
An insult to a great old Irish song

It's way more beautiful than the old one!! -_-
DROPKICK MURPHYS version is BETTER!!!
