Janome (who make Elna) recommend a 70 SSU (~300 ISO VG) machine oil. The presenter was using Singer sewing machine oil, i couldnt really find specs on it but its quite cheap. I chose Superlube (with syncolon) which is a 100 ISO VG (slightly lighter) non gumming, non staining food safe synthetic with PTFE (teflon) suspension. Its recommended by some machine makes and while its extremely expensive by volume, it comes in handy 7ml tubes for under $10AU, you should only be using a few drops at a time so it should last years.
Wow, you really need better screwdrivers - i took one look at the quality of the steel and got something better out vefore it damaged something. The Japanese Vessel stubby is cheap and nice for this stuff.
Thanks for showing us how to oil the machine as the operating instructions lack that information
What oil are u using?
