Thank you, this helped me repair my broken arm correctly
Thanks. Fixed my Mrs's ones with your vid and a kit from ebay.
Nice video, unfortunately i had the type 1 version, i had a skinny GHD mark 5, so the connection was different, if it was a type 2 would have been fine. Thanks thought, i ordered the bits from ebay, hoping its just the power cord, got a fuse also
Hi my partner tested my ghd ss4 and found the thermal fuse to be gone. Got another it blew again within 1-2 mins and got really hot before it blew. Any ideas. Could it be the thermistor. Would really appreciate a reply. Great video by the way, very helpful
yes thermistor is faulty as you have suspected.
@@KevsElectricalWorkshop Thats great thanks for the reply. I didnt want to end up spending money on parts without being sure.
Hi! I like your video! I’m italian and I’ve a similar problem. Can you suggest to me where i can buy the platinum ghd piece on the web? I don’t find it on Amazon and similar, but I need it! Thanks in advance!
Faulty ones on ebay is your only hope
hello i just wanna ask is the thermistor are 70 or 160 ohms?
the heaters are 70 ohm on this model
I have 3 resistors blown could there be other issues ??Or do you think its possible all
3 went at the same time..
what resistors are blown?
Did a n00b thing tested at 200k :D..When it should have been at 1m ohms
im just trying to learn love the videos, Is there any way to test the pic
with a multimeter love your ideas thank you for the help, i have already
replaced one heater plate,, thermal fuse is fine just testing the diode look
fine, strange because i must have not had any heater issues in the first place.
I'm going to check further tomorrow, i need to check the pic really there Ghd ss 5.0
Will check more tomorrow hopefully can diagnose the issue, they beep and the
light flashes about 4 time or more then the light goes completely out but the heaters
do not heat, All resistors are within spec of 51 ohms and the 1M ohm ones seem
high enough,Checking diode again and the capacitor, Feel like the pic chip has gone
is the pic compatible with the 4.2b pic ?Both have round buzzers.
Had to use a 3950 bulb type thermistor but that looks fine as i replaced it with
a new one..Used the exact same method i did on the last ones.Thank you for your
time mate
Ok a fader as i call them, start then fade to nothing.
Switch on and let it die then unpug (very important) and test thermal fuse resistance (they can fool you when there breaking down), if not that then most possibly C1. I need to do some more videos just need to find the time.
@@KevsElectricalWorkshop please do more videos you've been mia for almost a year.
I Know life has got a bit in the way at moment i am planing one or 2, anything you would like to see
Hello, i have a GHD SS5.0, it shows no signs of life. The cable is good. What can be broken?
Proberly R8/R11 or thermal fuse
Kevs Electrical Workshop thank you, now i check it 😊
Excuse me again.
R11: 51,2
R8: 51,4
Thermal fuse: 0,3
Both resistor: 34,5.
I think all is good. Just see something like fire on the fuse's screw.
What can i do to repair this? Excuse me for the bad english. If u can help me please 😬
verify diodes D2 & D9, if good then PIC hads gone, if PIC gone proberly means switch needs to be dismantaled and cleaned. if fuse screw has flashed over (very rare) then PIC will have gone. the PICs go do to dirty switch arcing or a flashover.
Kevs Electrical Workshop thank you for the reply, but what you mean as "PIC"? Should be U2?
