One suggestion for those who experience relatively rapid battery discharge would be to disconnect the battery if you know that the car will not get started over a little while. I do that on one of my cars which I let sit over majority of the year, except winters when snow is present and I have a ton of fun. Even if the car sat for more than half a year, it fires right up after I connect the battery back up, if I didn't do that, the battery would go flat within 2days because of chinese radio and few power-draw parasites.
Side info: 2500 rpm is limit in neutral with esp ON. if you turn it off, the engine goes to 5000 in neutral (at least on 2.0 TDI). But you're right, stupid to rev that cold engine.
@@AYaXOnE yeah it does, just wondered if the esp trick works. I have a seat Leon fr, same engine but it’s 150ps with ‘sport’ mode and normal, eco and individual but for some reason it has a launch control program that you can use. Maybe if I use that I can rev it
Letting the engine idling in low speeds at winter season causes serious knocking and damage to bearings. But idling at high rpm not too much like 2k-2.5k helps the engine heat up faster, eliminates detonation and pumps the oil across the engine bearings throughly reducing stress on bearings.
Funny thing about 1.9tdi and 2.0tdi is the fact they start up in cold like they were just ran, but when you want to start them up while at operating temperature, they're little less willing to start 🤣 My A4 B7 2.0tdi had that issue, after -33°C night it fired right up after warming glow plugs once, but had hesistation when at operating temp, mileage on it is 378k km currently, runs like a charm, not a single issue after EGR and Throttle body delete.
I think the gearbox is limited to certain amount of torque, 1000nm like you said. Because the engine is capable of doing way more torque but the gearbox may not handle it
Since you can increase torque with chiptuning, any diesel engine is "limited" to some degree. From gearbox, mechanical durability, temperatures, emissions, product politics there are many reasons why manifactureres do that. If they say it's "limited" for their most powerful engines it's a marketing gimmick.
Yes the engine was more than capable of making over 1000NM stock. But the gearbox on it just physically couldn't puck up with it. People have tuned them to do it. But you have to make the shifts really slow.
A few of these cars would be starting even better with new glowplugs. Diesels in minus degrees with new glowplugs firing all cylinders immediatly after being glowed twice.

I beg to differ. 4L v8 in Bentley and Lamborghini and Audis are terrible, the W8's were cool, but it was an engine-out service for timing chains and basic maintenance. V-10 TDI's were SOHC, 20-valves, simple design, reliable, basic air-air intercooler, and LOTS of torque.
Why does an audi Q7 have a V12 diesel? You don't need such a large engine in a car like that. A Q7 is not a truck/lorry or tractor that pulls heavy loads. Even most trucks don't have engines that big.
Engineering flex, these cars were also nearly 2x the price of a loaded Q7 4.2V8 TDI, and not many were made and sold. And as previous guy correctly told you, they competed with a V12 diesel (although it has no common parts with the Q7 engine) in Le Mans in a fierce war against Peugeot. These engines sounded boring for what they were but the track rivarly was awesome, look up "diesel war" on YT. Anyway I'm glad they exist. Crazy cars are cool.
