In fact, the modern city centre with the Palace of Culture and other high-rise buildings that you saw at the beginning is not "the new town". The New Town (Nowe Miasto in Polish) is the official name of the district that starts a few metres north of the Old Town. This historic New Town was built as late as in the 14/15th century, hence the name :)

The Palace, also called "Pekin" (Beijing) - was the name of the brothel that stood in its place before the war, also known as "The nightmare of a drunk confectioner". In fact, the Palace was no "gift", it was a Russian imperial totem. Marking the area. In its place and empty space surrounding it, there were almost 200 tenement houses. Their inhabitants were forcibly displaced, a few of those who didn't want to move out - committed suicide. Many Warsaw residents don't mind that it'd be torn down. I've never been there, and I don't need to.

    • @Piwonia67

I know nothing about the brothel. Maybe there really was one before the war, lol. In fact, "Pekin" is derived from PKiN, Pałac Kultury i Nauki. And yes, people in Warsaw have mixed feelings about it.

You're warmly welcome to Tanzania in this coming summer season which starts from June - October and see the large group of wildebeest migrants from one place to another. The Great Wildebeest Migration is the largest animal migration in the world. Every year, more than 2 million animals (wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle) are in the northern Serengeti plains, and you have a chance of seeing up to thousands crossing the river. As the sight of the wildebeest crossing is so dramatic, it is considered by many and the most desirable time to see the migration.

It's actually illegal to sell 'Gołka' cheese as 'Oscypek'. Gołka is 2 maybe 3 times cheaper to make because it uses cow milk instead of sheep (they're milked only in the season and you can't preserve the cheese quality). It was a common practice between dishonest shop owners to sell it to tourists. Nowadays they try some crafty ways to name them like: a'la Oscypek or something like this haha. Oscypek is not necessarily better though. A lot of people prefer Gołka.

Excellent vlog. Thinking of returning in a few weeks. The summer vibe is completly different they have little artificial beach bars along the river. Also an excellent time to go to all the parks

Go to Lublin :) In some summer afternoon, I think it has the prettiest Old Town in Poland, totally different that all the others, more like Prague I would say, with small streets and lots of artistic instalations on the building walls.
