I like how you always leave a comfortable space at the front for the hackle, wing etc. There are some (extremely good) tyers on TH-cam who leave themselves desperately little space to work with. I find it excruciating watching them cramming materials against and on top of each other, the thread constantly threatening to slide off the increasingly steep angle. Presumably they’re secure enough (with lashings of superglue)but it all looks a bit precarious. And some people like a good bit of eye showing for the old Turle knot.
Great to have you back Davie I was worried have not seen a post from you in a while hope your neck is on the mend my coffee did not taste the same without a tutorial video hope you are feeling better from 🇨🇦
Once again, I'm inspired by your skill amd artistry with these patterns. Gives me motivating to continue to master the craft of tying. Beautiful tie, as always! Thanks!
Another special salmon pattern of great beauty and which should tempt the King of fish. And, as always, expertly assembled! Thank you for this discovery.👍👍👍👍👍🙏 All the best. Y.S.
Hi Mike, I have been out a couple of times although I have plans to be out many more but at the moment we could do wthl a little water to encourage the fish to come into the rivers..I'm glad you enjoyed the video.. All the very best Davie
Hi Davie, I have started to tie my first salmon flies. Question regarding the hook colours. I purchased black, silver and gold hooks. Does the colour matter. I have gold hooks so can tie this fly but I would also like to tie your version of the blue charm which uses a black hook and I have used them all. Does it make a difference if I use gold or silver hooks.
Hi Ivan, I would say that black or gold would suit this fly as the colour combination works best for this though there's nothing wrong with using a silver hook at times..Black or silver suits the blue charm but again nothing wrong with using the gold hook though I would use a gold rib rather than the silver. All the very best Davie
Hi Musio Ramirez, The feather is called Jungle Cock and comes from a bird called Grey Jungle Fowl, I have attached a link to the bird they came from for you to see..I'm glad you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie
