Speaking for single player, im not building castle, just making towers for strategic points, when you make castle AI try to destroy it with catapults but if you let them come theycant figure out where is your castle and i can easily defend
I just build towers in open maps and just block some paths with walls to confuse the AI lord's to attack in one direction. Castles personally lowers the efficiency of production. Take a look at Nizars castle. He produced lots of food but his workers have to trek one or more circuits around his base
This is the best method. I close everything off and let them come from a single point, and the 300 archers I fit into a single tower tear them to pieces :D
0:13 you could ask the same thing about catapults. Both aren't made for close combat. However, Firethrowers can kill of huge armies of enemys if used correctly.
As a n00b, I overused the fire throwers. I had like 20 on them on my towers. They caused often more harm than good, especially friendly fire and they simply can't replace archers...
Pro+ player: Lookout tower + 20 Archers + 30 Crossbowmen + 6 shields. Pro++ player: Drop a tower at enemy base + 30 Arabian Bowmen (+ Mangonel if the tower is large enough) Pro+++ player: Set rally point at enemy's keep and spawn Assassins. Pro++++ player: Put 10 Fire Ballistae(s) on a wall.
@@ErikAdalbertvanNagel Lookout tower only cost 10 stones, which is pretty useful at the start of the game if you want to try hard. It can also protect ranged units with the least number of shield if you want them to survive longer. Further more, enemy tower ballistae cannot aim at them thanks to the height advantage.

I start selling a lot of resources and immediately make myself the company of 100 crossbowmen distributed in several large towers (those that can contain the ballistae or the mangle) in strategic points of access to my lands (I build the walls only if necessary), then the creation of a large team of fire ballistae, vital for attack and defense, is necessary and vital. Maybe it's not one of the best or most efficient strategies in the game, but my favorite thing is that the loss rate of my troops compared to those I kill is something like 1:50, and I'm proud of it. and I'm talking about games where I also challenge 4 Saladins ganged up against me

Instead of closed, walled castles, I like to just place strategic towers and draw moats. It forces the invaders to follow a defined route, essentially turning my castle into a tower defense game
the true pro player cattle is just towers and crossbowman with shield from engineers on them, maybe some moat around never closed so enemy troops walk always into the crossbowman deadly arrors
Hacker : only work when there's just one enemy, if there's more you'll likely to lose since you don't have many gold left.. If I'm playing defense I'll just use 2-3 tower and moat all the way in. Use catapult and shield in the tower and fill the rest with crossbow. When my defense is perfect, I'll use crossbow and 10-20 catapult to attack. Well I'm not playing pvp so i believe this wouldn't work with pvp or at least you have many crossbow to fight back horse archer
i discovered the level 6 hack... when i made custom maps in most of them NPC were unable to built anything ..... If we make garden flowers in such places it is better soldiers dont break those in case NPC get soldiers in start of gme i was 13 than lol

also that castle is extremely inefficient. It looks cool but the first rule of RTS is more stuff beats less stuff.

Finally someone know trick with rally flag + assassins rush haha. I did 30+ missions below 2 mina with this and possitive feat factor

I use a few to cause small fires in proper made killing lanes :)

Lookout tower is absolutely useless. Doesn't have more range, I've tested it.

@@_oHieuMinh well, it's not my style. For me it's just catapult breakfast. Tower ballistas outrange fire ballistas, and can hit even trebuchets.

50 catapults and 200 knights asap, 25 assassins to finish the job.
The noob castles and the actual pro castles (against AI anyway) are going to look the same cos neither are going to use walls lmao
you know you can grab those peninsula/island maps and wall off your part, right? Takes a lot less resources and is easy to make
