Maq, this was a great video!! I feel like I can sort of relate also being a NASCAR fan because I discovered it as a kid around 2008, but became really intrigued around 2011 and well...that passion for it never stopped. The first driver I ever heard of was Dale Jr, and I think he was the driver that was in a huge part of my childhood. Plus, you could tell, he really connected with the fans throughout his career too. Around the time period of 2017/18 I lost a little interest, but in 2019 it came back. Since then, I've really had a bigger appreciation for it and I will never regret that...especially when they arrive at my home track (shoutout to Richmond Raceway!) In terms of the most recent times (2020-now), I've also became a fan of Brad Keselowski, Kyle Larson, Bubba Wallace, and Daniel Suarez...and man, they are cool people. Anyways, I will say that the current gen 7 cars are awesome to watch, it has helped produce some great races so far this season, and I can't wait for more going forward. Also, props to you and Radman for also being Arsenal and nascar fans too, lol.
I loved this video Maqwell! I grew up watching NASCAR from 1999-2000, and I used to watch the races whenever I could, and eventually when I could afford cable, I'd watch all the races I could on TV, from the Truck Series upward. I loved collecting various diecasts, to which I still hold them in a container in my closet all these years later. I also loved growing up supporting Jeff Gordon, which I made an effort to buy all of his diecasts. I stopped watching around 2011 when I also got bored with the sport. Today, I watch some of the highlights, which while there are plenty of new faces, I feel nostalgic seeing these races, giving memories of some of my happiest times of childhood. Very great video and I can attest how fun it was to watch it all those years ago.
This made so sentimental, I used to watch soccer as a child as well and I was in love with the sport like you. I also watched football for my whole life but as I’ve grown up I have only watched nascar from time to time. Football is something I kept very close to me my whole life and even thought I don’t watch as many games or races as I use to I still have the same passion for the sports because it’s what I’ve grown up with.
Great video man! As a kid who grew up watching NASCAR and Indy Car this really hit. Still go to the Indy 500 every year, broke down into tears of joy when my favorite driver as a kid (Helio Castroneves) won his 4th 500. Racing is amazing
The sentimentalism of this video is so heart-touching. When you bind a bond with your family- you can easily lose it and some how gain it back again but still a childhood is a time where you blindly fall in love and never can get that high off life again! That’s the magic of life!
This was a great one. Nascar is one of my guilty pleasures. I don’t watch it every weekend anymore but I do try to catch a couple broadcasts. When I do it takes me back to my youth as well.
as someone who's relationship with their father was due to sport, I love this video. Inspiring for me as someone planning to start youtube with videos focused on sports in general
This video is literally me accept F1 was that thing that really brought me joy in my childhood and now I’m starting to get back into even though football (soccer) is my favorite sport.
I have a similar story. My mom loved motor racing. She would go karting pretty much every weekend while my dad and I go to my pingpong classes. And when f1 finally came to China she didn’t hesitate to take me to the race. Ever since then, I can’t take my ear off the roaring engines and my eyes off the Ferrari red (and 10+ years of pain). My relationship with my mom wasn’t the best due to the typical Chinese tiger mom thing. But we did bond through motor racing and I believe talking about our common interest helped us getting closer when I got older.
I’ll be honest man, motor sport is something I’ve been interested in but hearing your enthusiasm for NASCAR was truly heartwarming and it made me feel like I should give the Australian V8 races a try. Loved the video
It's nice to see someone who likes both football and NASCAR. I knew about NASCAR way before football and always wanted to become a racing driver before becoming a footballer. It's also the reason why I have 24 in my name, because of Jeff Gordon :)
One of the best videos and sensing the emotional passion you put in it and in your voice even got me choked up. Good job man. That’s how I feel when I used to watch Lakers games and Attitude era WWE that along with Football was the reason I felt love with sports and I always say the reason I love them. Hell I consider Kobe Bryant, Shaq, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock the first athletes I actually followed
I am especially happy for stumbling onto this video. I relate to your story a lot. I am half chinese american born in Denver Colorado. I moved to Australia in 2011 and watched my first race in 2013 (Coke Zero 400). This is why i am a Jimmie Johnson fan and a general hendrick fan. NASCAR became a big part of my free time by watching nascar videos and playing with my cars on the carpet. Also remember annoying all my friends at school about NASCAR by telling them how good Jimmie was as well as drawing them in my books. Unfortunately a drifted away from NASCAR like you did. And I gave away all my hot wheels and many of my other toys I had made memories with. I returned watching in 2019 right in the middle of Jimmie’s downfall which I really hated and almost cried about (2020 coke zero 400). I now watch every race I can and root for the Hendricks to win. Thanks for the video.
love you maqwell! at only 20, you’re already one of the best creators on this platform, genuinely. as a person from the uk, i’ve only recently got truly into nascar, but i really like bubba wallace and somewhat chase elliot! this video is really a breath of fresh air from your other videos (although they are seriously so good, it’s still nice to see you expand into new content). maybe an nba video next as you said you’re also into basketball?
bro this video made me cry a lot especially the parts where you talked about your memories with your father because i myself have a lot of memories with him in playing games and watching football but now i feel disconnected from him a lot more than my childhood
There's nothing more beautiful than seeing someone speak about their passions. You can really feel how much this meant to you. Really really great video man.
This video really touched me in a way I never thought it would. I remember growing up and watching my first race when I was 5 the 2008 Food City 500 ever since I was hooked. I saw my favorite driver of all time Jamie McMurray win the Daytona 500 in 2010 and every time I go back and watch that race I almost tear up because I remember how happy and joyful I was seeing my racing hero win one of the most prestigious races of all time.
Wow it’s amazing to know I was not the only one. Literally my first ever sport was NASCAR and 2006 was also the same year I started watching it as well. But I didn’t stop with NASCAR, I fell in love with motorsports watching sports car racing and F1 back in old days of the SPEED channel. But like you, I also explored other sports like hockey, football, basketball and soccer. But somehow I still was in love with motorsports, just not as much with NASCAR. I still try to watch the Daytona 500 every year and the championship playoffs. Maxwell dude… thank you for this video essay, this really took me back to my first years of watching NASCAR. Very well made!!!
My Dad got me into NASCAR with the Video Games and That's what made me a NASCAR fan for 24 years and counting And great job with this vid Please do more NASCAR vids
Great video! Dude, we sound almost exactly the same (except we didn’t have cable so so missed all the lit SPEED coverage) Found it randomly in ‘04, started watching every week in ‘05, and been a fan ever since. Glad to see someone with a similar story is out here.
My dad loves nascar and would take me and my brother to the New Hampshire motor speedway when we were young. My dad was a Jimmy Johnson fan and I was a Carl edwards fan. As I grew older I fell out of my fandom for it but it will still hold a special place in my heart.
Yo why did this video hit me in the feels, great video man 🔥 as someone who’s from South Florida where NASCAR is all but nonexistent I stumbled upon a race and got hooked ever since. Also my jaw dropped when I realized that was you that made those graphics for Miscraft it completely slipped from my mind
@@Maqwell aye no problem man your work made Miscraft so much more fun to watch. Keep at with that as well as your channel, your content is really good!
This was a beautiful video, and as a football and NASCAR fan, it felt like you were directly speaking to me. Thank you for this one. Your videos are amazing, but this one was special.
I can kinda relate to this I remember as a kid I’d use to watch a lot of speed racer with my dad cuz he watched it as a kid and I loved Pixar’s cars, fast and furious, and watched some nascar from time to time dreaming one day I’ll get my drivers license and be a pro race car driver around 2012 I was looking at other sports basketball then football in 2013/14 and fell in love since with the beautiful game then when I was 15-16 years old I hated the idea of driving and I thought it was boring until I started watching initial d, hot version, and wangan midnight that sparked my inner child that got me that gave me motivation to get my drivers license now I’m 19 and I’d say my younger self would truly be happy seeing me do something I enjoy driving and playing sports it may not be basketball but football is something I love and knowing I’m still holding on to things i love I think my younger self would be very happy
Maqwell I’ve been watching for a couple of months and I’m a football just like you but this video has been my favourite! I’ve been thinking about how I got into football during this video and It was my dad who got me into it. Before the game starts me and my dad and his mates play football for 20-30 minutes and my dad was telling me how they used to do it with one of his mates son. And it just made feel happy to carry on the theme of it. And if you can’t tell I’m Arsenal fan.
I remember the 2005 CL final even 17 later. I was just 9 at the time but I got the privilege to watch the best Final between Milan and Liverpool. I will never forget it. Great video.
I'm glad there are a few youtubers out there who's favorite sports are also soccer and racing (even better a Bowman fan). It seems like such an odd pairing but it's great. This video also made me too emotional for some guy talking about their happy childhood
🏉 You were right, dude. It was worth watching this after the World Cup Predictions video. Always nice to hear about one's passion with honesty in their voice. I can sort of related as I'm big rugby fan myself 🏉 Now to watch a F1 video to understand that as well.
I have special memories about NASCAR even though I never got too into it because my Dad was a cameraman for several seasons for the races. Sadly he passed away in 2020 but I will always hold my trip to Martinsville and all the garages dear to my heart. Also have a connection cause Ryan Blaney went to my high school a couple years before i did.
i related to this video so much. i've been a NASCAR fan for as long as i can rememeber, and yes i'm a lifelong jimmie johnson fan cause hes the goat. idk what it is but just something about nascar pulled me in and never let go of me. It is something i will hold a dear place in my heart for a very long time.
Cool video. I liked the information this video has even though I'm not a fan of car racing of any kind. I also like hearing about passions of the people I watch and support outside of their main content.
Dude we are the same person… When I was little I was so obsessed with nascar dressed up and watched hella stop motion videos, me and my papa would watch every race together, but I slowly started to love football, nascar just became boring. This video I happened to scroll upon means so much to me, thank you, good shit. Go jeff gordon. And COYG🔴⚪️
I was never into NASCAR, *but* my younger sibling and I would do "car soccer", where we used his massive Hot Wheels collection to do a full World Cup. From groups to the final. He'd be on the living room floor moving all of the cars on the field and I'd keep score and stats.
I’m one of the only people in the uk that actually watches nascar after I started trolling people on nascar heat 5 and now I’m hooked for the thing so it’s good to see one of my favourite football TH-camrs doing a video about it 👍
As a person that has moved from Boston to the UK, i still keep my passion for nascar, even if it's hard watching nascar over here. I have still keep my passion from even when i was younger lol.
Holy shit bro. thank you for making this. My first race I ever attended was the 2006 Pepsi 400, first video game NASCAR 06 TTC. Shit made me fall in love w the sport and I still keep up w it to this day. You described feelings I could never really put into words.
Never watched a full race. But I've always had a soft spot for NASCAR after Watching Cars and Talladega nights back in 2006. I've also been collecting the Donruss cards from a couple of years ago.
Honestly this is my favourite video of yours now, theres nothing i love more than people making videos about something thats emotionally important to them like this regardless of how relevant it is to the reason i discovered the channel :') pls dont hesitate to make other stuff that isnt football related if you feel like it!!!
Growing up in Charlotte my whole life, it's always been a part of my life in some way, shape, or form. Whether it was casual or getting tickets to certain events, it's always been there. I'll admit, I still haven't been to the hall of fame but this definitely makes me want to go see what it's all about.
damn, really felt this. I really liked football as a kid, played it, watched it, kept up with the news. But I gradually lost interest and took pretty much a complete hiatus from 2017 to 2021 (with the exception of the 2018 world cup). I only started watching again with the 2021 Euros and have completely rekindled my love and started paying closer attention than ever, finding a lot more youtube channels I enjoy, including this one. Anyways, good video.
This video hit me in the heart hard with the Nostalgia I had as a kid. I became a nascar fan by watching Disney cars on DVD back in 2008 i was a one year old at the and then I started watching races a few times and it wasn't until around 2012 or 2013 that i watched full races and seasons. I also became a fan by watching crash compilations and racing cilps on TH-cam. I remember playing with first diecast of my favorite driver jimmie johnson and I still have it to this day I remember causing the big one with my diecasts, hot wheels and pixar cars,I remember watching stop motions and learning everything about nascar. In 2nd grade I went to my first race back in 2015 at the Charlotte motor speedway for the all star race and it was amazing. The smell of gas in the air the cars zooming past, the pit stops. And I my favorite driver is the one you dislike it's jimmie johnson 😂 this video I found very relatable and reminded me why I love the sport so much. I'm 14 in high school and I still watch nascar very weekend and every series that I can watch. I still collect diecasts and even have friends who love nascar. And that's all for my ted talk sorry for making it so long😂
Man, amazing work. I can really relate to this because of my love of basketball since I was a kid and a football fan here in the Philippines since I've watched the whole Super Bowl 50
Amazing video. Love that you share a different part of you that isn't football. Personally, as a Dutch person, I grew up watching football, with a memory I still fondly remember is seeing FC Twente win the 2010 Eredivisie, then cycling to the bridge over the closest highway, which they closed off so that the FC Twente team bus had clear way to Enschede where they would celebrate... I remember standing on that bridge and having the bus pass under me, great memories... After that, as Twente began declining I slowly started losing a bit of interest... In 2016, Max Verstappen came into F1 meanwhile, and the hypetrain was real in the Netherlands. I started following F1, though not closely. However in 2020 I started closely following F1, and it is still a major interest for me. It has caused me to really get into sports again... Not only football and F1. I've since discovered other motorsports - from F2, Formula E, IndyCar, World Endurance Championship, IMSA Sportscars Championship, to your NASCAR, which i occasionally watch. I've loved every bit of motorsport I've watched, with some great memories of those thrilling races, it's just kinda a clear mind, just enjoy it for me... I've also started watching some other sports, like I'm trying to follow ice hockey, which I think is a sport that is is very easy to understand as a football fan. It's kinda futsal but on ice with sticks, with some rules added which makes it quite easy to understand as a football fan. Also tried American football, though I still don't really see the appeal. Aussie football is awesome however. All in all, great video. as a giant motorsports fan I'd like to see more NASCAR stuff, though of course, this is a football channel. Do what you want, so if it's football, it's fine for me, it seems you can nail any subject honestly :p
The way you were feeling in 2017 made me feel the same way in 2021 Maxwell fr, shit and I even started joining racing leagues left, and right that were NASCAR related! I've gotten back into NASCAR in 2021 after my high school years, and my graduation year of 2020... 2021 made me have that same refreshing feeling about NASCAR, me, and you have something in common! When I was little I used to dress as Jeff Gordon for Halloween... Hell, and I even dressed as my favorite movie character Ricky Bobby knowing the movie Talladega Nights. I started collecting NASCAR diecasts, and keeping them in the boxes that will mean more down the line. Became an Earnhardt fan in 2016 after Jeff Gordon retired in 2015, and I am still an Earnhardt fan, currently my favorite drivers are Austin Dillon, Kyle Busch, Christian Eckes, Tanner Reif, Eric Johnson Jr., Jeffrey Earnhardt (Dale Earnhardt's grandson, and Dale Jr.'s nephew), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (Dale Jr. drives part-time in the Xfinity Series). I went to my first race at All American Speedway in Roseville, CA for a NASCAR Grassroots/Short Track type of race at NASCAR Opening Night. Second time I went was an ARCA race as a VIP where I met Tanner Reif, and Eric Johnson Jr., third race was a Mini Stock/Monster Truck Bash. Now, I get more NASCAR games, more NASCAR diecasts, more NASCAR memorabilia... It takes me back to my childhood of being a huge NASCAR fan!
Even as a Canadian my thing has always been F1. But I gotta admit even I'm slightly familiar with the pulse of NASCAR because you can't watch sports tv in the 2000s without it. You told us this video was big and to watch it and I'm glad you did. Almost makes me want to watch NASCAR until I read the current rules. My dad and I used to watch every single Raptors game or catch it on the radio. In the last five years or so I've slowly grown away from basketball as I explore other sports. But you're right I'll always hold a special place in my heart for driveway games against my dad. This and the vegalta Sendai videos are now twice you've made me cry in the last month Max.
as a Brazilian I've never had any interest in nascar or any type of races and stuff but this video hit me so fucking hard I had a similar experience with "futsal" I think it's called indoor soccer in English anyways AMAZING video man your content is always pretty good but you really outdid yourself in this video what a masterpiece
Only just finding this now after being subscribed for years is a tragedy. Football was my “nascar” and has been ever since even though I curse the day my dad made me be a Sheffield United fan.
i saw bowman punt hamlin in person at martinsville in person. me and my dad started dying of laughter when hamlin came flying in at the end of the race to try and celebrate with bowman
Like for nascar
mm nascar
Sure
Nascar please :(
Mate, I live about 15 mins from Kansas Speedway. Anytime u wanna catch a race, u got a place to crash. Cheers.
Jeff Gordon all the way

That’s the magic of life!
as a massive motorsports fan, I love how you are also into racing. Really cool!
Here from the new video, did not expect to feel sad
Max, I absolutely loved this video. Your ability to share an experience with such eloquence is amazing. I need to share this one for sure
NBA would be cool, but idk if my fan experiences could give it any justice. Ton of memories from 2012 tho
Vid 103 of waiting for the san marino career mode.
Nascar and F1 are amazing. And that is facts.
bro this video made me cry a lot especially the parts where you talked about your memories with your father because i myself have a lot of memories with him in playing games and watching football but now i feel disconnected from him a lot more than my childhood
That Daytona 500 is such a classic, and McMurray fan? Man of true culture
I Trusted you and i Thank you For That Video 10/10
You have Great Parents
Merry Christmas
This video was so much of my experience as a child it's crazy. NASCAR will always be my childhood and always my first love. Thank you for making this!
My Dad got me into NASCAR with the Video Games and That's what made me a NASCAR fan for 24 years and counting
And great job with this vid
Please do more NASCAR vids
Great video! Dude, we sound almost exactly the same (except we didn’t have cable so so missed all the lit SPEED coverage)
Found it randomly in ‘04, started watching every week in ‘05, and been a fan ever since.
JEEETTT my guy, because of your tips and tricks, the Miscraft broadcast package was what it was. Appreciate you my man :)
I can sort of related as I'm big rugby fan myself 🏉
Now to watch a F1 video to understand that as well.
Thanks for making a video about the first sport that I ever actually fell in love with.
Damn. This is like the exact same experience I had. Loved watching as a kid, drifted away, and rediscovered my love for it
As a fan of the sport starting from 2004, this was BEAUTIFUL to watch. Made me tear up on the inside :')
i related to this video so much. i've been a NASCAR fan for as long as i can rememeber, and yes i'm a lifelong jimmie johnson fan cause hes the goat. idk what it is but just something about nascar pulled me in and never let go of me. It is something i will hold a dear place in my heart for a very long time.
Great stuff man!
Eyyy thanks big man Jeff
Cool video. I liked the information this video has even though I'm not a fan of car racing of any kind. I also like hearing about passions of the people I watch and support outside of their main content.
Marvelous enlightening video Maqwell matie. You have scrubbed my mind from that Southpark episode regarding nascar.
Aight but that South Park episode is still hilarious
Nascar and football are the only sports I follow really, I'm really glad to see this
Dude we are the same person… When I was little I was so obsessed with nascar dressed up and watched hella stop motion videos, me and my papa would watch every race together, but I slowly started to love football, nascar just became boring.
I’m one of the only people in the uk that actually watches nascar after I started trolling people on nascar heat 5 and now I’m hooked for the thing so it’s good to see one of my favourite football TH-camrs doing a video about it 👍
Just now seeing this video. Thanks for the tag on Twitter. Let’s see watcha got Maqwell.
As a person that has moved from Boston to the UK, i still keep my passion for nascar, even if it's hard watching nascar over here. I have still keep my passion from even when i was younger lol.
I actually related with this so closely that I nearly cried. Cheers to you Maqwell
Holy shit bro. thank you for making this. My first race I ever attended was the 2006 Pepsi 400, first video game NASCAR 06 TTC. Shit made me fall in love w the sport and I still keep up w it to this day. You described feelings I could never really put into words.
man, i would never have thought that a video of yours would make me tear up, amazing video!
Thanks for making me smile. I needed that after a long day.
another class video hope to see more nascar or even just other sports on this channel
Can’t make any promises bc this video messed up my entire uploading schedule but maybe in the far future
Speed channel was my only love when i was little omfg you’ve pulled memories out of the back of my head.
Allez Ryan Newman !!!!
I had no idea what Nascar is, but I'm grateful to the TH-cam algorithm gods that this channel was recommended to me.
nascar content is the best thing to ever happen in my life
I think this is his best essay yet it shows how it has impacted his life just like any of us with any sport
Keep up the good work max
Thanks :)
Thanks for such a great video Maqwell
Never watched a full race. But I've always had a soft spot for NASCAR after Watching Cars and Talladega nights back in 2006. I've also been collecting the Donruss cards from a couple of years ago.
Honestly this is my favourite video of yours now, theres nothing i love more than people making videos about something thats emotionally important to them like this regardless of how relevant it is to the reason i discovered the channel :') pls dont hesitate to make other stuff that isnt football related if you feel like it!!!
Oh you bet, if I can think of anything else loool
And I my favorite driver is the one you dislike it's jimmie johnson 😂
this video I found very relatable and reminded me why I love the sport so much.
Super Bowl 50 was indeed the best super bowl no bias
@@Maqwell HAHAHA. I know in my mind you will say it
Wow this video somehow feel so deep.
Love your video maqwell, Keep it up the good work bro😂
Beautiful
This and the vegalta Sendai videos are now twice you've made me cry in the last month Max.
your channel is on par with guys that have millions of subs man keep it up and you’re gonna be massive in no time ❤️❤️
Thanks my guy!
as a Brazilian I've never had any interest in nascar or any type of races and stuff but this video hit me so fucking hard I had a similar experience with "futsal" I think it's called indoor soccer in English anyways AMAZING video man your content is always pretty good but you really outdid yourself in this video what a masterpiece
Only just finding this now after being subscribed for years is a tragedy.
Football was my “nascar” and has been ever since even though I curse the day my dad made me be a Sheffield United fan.
Great video! Pretty interesting to see another sport on your channel
i used to watch Nascar every week and stop motion aswell but moved and it wasn't broadcasted.
Yo this is a great video. Thank you very much for making this.
You are my favorite TH-camr thank you for sharing this man!
Thanks man!
i saw bowman punt hamlin in person at martinsville in person. me and my dad started dying of laughter when hamlin came flying in at the end of the race to try and celebrate with bowman
BRO YOURE THE ONLY OTHER PERSON I KNOW THAT LOVES NASCAR AND SOCCER I LOVE THIS SO MUCH
