my top 10 Living Things 1 - Burn it down 2 - In My Remains 3 - Castle of Glass 4 - Lost in the echo 5 - Roads Untraveled 6 - I'll be gone 7 - Powerless 8 - Until it breaks 9 -Skin to bone 10 - Lies Greed Misery
Living Things remains my favorite of their electronic rock era. My favorite of their Nu Metal/Alternative Rock era would be Meteora. This album is just so good from start to finish and very reminiscent of the 2010s.
Surprisingly this is my favorite LP album, and has been for years! been a huge fan of their work since MTM in middle school, grew up with it all, and absolutely ADORE this album.
Been a listener since hybrid theory and I have to say, Powerless is my favorite song of them EVER! I also think that roads untraveled will always get me emotional
This album came out exactly on my 16th birthday, during a time when I called them my absolute favorite band of all time (I still love them, I've just found other artists who I enjoy even more now) What an awesome b-day present that was... I also saw them live for the first time later that year with Incubus and Mutemath, which was totally amazing! One of my favorite moments was when they played "Victimized" but extended it with the bridge from "QWERTY"
I'm glad you enjoyed "Lies Greed Misery", I feel like that song is super underrated. I loved it from the first listen I just thought it sounded so crazy haha but good. A lot of people at the time lumped it in with Dubstep which was being hated out the door by that point. But let Mike cook! The production of that song and then the escalating aggression from Chester's vocals are *chef's kiss* 🤌

I love it too. I love the blending of a relatively upbeat groove and instrumentation... it's bouncy, but then very aggressive lyrics and chorus with Chester. And then the "You did it to yourself build and explosion". So good.
Yeah, I had a hard time appreciating it when I first heard it, but I kept listening to it with the rest of the album, and now it’s easily one of my favorites.
REALLY enjoying these full listens of the 2010 albums. I always enjoyed A Thousand Suns and LIVING THINGS. The Hunting Party didn’t grab me. But I love One More Light. Can’t wait for more!
This is my favourite album, as i was growing up I used to listen to HT and Meteora with my older sister, Living Things dropped during my puberty and it leaved such a mark on me. I love every single song from LP, but songs from this album find a way to my playlist more than any other LP songs... It's such a shame that every album from LP was so overly hated when released, yet turned to masterpieces with time
I was about 13 when this album came out. I'd been a linkin park fan before then but this was around the age that music really started gripping me and this was one of the first albums I listened to front to back when it came out. It's maybe not their best album ever, but it has a special kind of nostalgia for me. Besides, saying it's not the best linkin park album is like saying that Ryan Reynolds isn't the best canadian. The competition is fierce lol.
The best album, without a doubt! "Oh, there's no screaming from Chester"... Come on, guys. We're all grown up 😂 Living Things and A Thousand suns are precious❤
Here we go! So when I first got into Linkin Park c. 2013, it was through Spotify or TH-cam recommending songs to me. One of my first Spotify playlists opened with the first three songs from this album, and that's all the Linkin Park I knew. LOST IN THE ECHO is fantastic, IN MY REMAINS and BURN IT DOWN were more low-key for me, but I've grown to appreciate them more. It was from listening to these songs over and over that made me say, man these guys are good, I wonder what else they got. And I searched for them, found Numb and In The End, and also watched a Portuguese TH-cam channel (don't ask me why) called Cifra Club who did guitar tab tutorials for Somewhere I Belong, and I realised I knew Numb and In The End already. I probably heard them growing up, my Mother told me she always had MTV on and they were probably on there, she definitely would have listened to them. So ye, Living Things was my gateway. I'd never been a massive music follower in my childhood, but I listened to every single that dropped for The Hunting Party, and that was the first time I'd ever followed the release of an album. I was so stoked anticipating the album releasing. Over time, I'd say my favourite Living Things songs are LOST IN THE ECHO, I'LL BE GONE, CASTLE OF GLASS and POWERLESS. This whole album sounds like it contains so much hatred, to finally be done with someone and break out of some kind of restraint - unrestrained is the perfect word for this album. It's not afraid to go hard, it's not trying to be something you've already heard. If I had to search for a profound message like I did with the previous album, I'd settle for the search to find what makes you human. Like how in A Thousand Suns, the focus was really on the aftershock of someone's terrible actions as they happened, like the evil is ever present and active and relentless. This feels like the evil whatever that is, is on the backfoot, losing, done, gone, dead and buried, but there's still so much hostility and anger, like finally being free of the iron grip. It sounds like someone getting their power back, turning the tables, unleashing their hatred and getting their revenge. It sounds like a damnatio memoriae. It sounds like the justifications of a serial killer for why they believed their murders was them enacting divine justice, especially the end of UNTIL IT BREAKS which has so much reverence and gleeful poetry while describing something brutal - shh, go to sleep, ignore the senseless violence I have wrought, it was necessary, you don't know the evil I've seen. "You held it all, and I was by your side, powerless" "Tell them I couldn't help myself, tell them I was alone, tell me I am the only one..." "Broken down and waiting for a chance to feel alive" "I'm gonna be that nail in your coffin" "Rest your head it's time to sleep and dream of what's in store, the body bends until it breaks and sings again no more" Again, just my thoughts, I know probably there's not so much to it as that. Can't wait for The Hunting Party.
I don't know if you will see this comment David, but you should listen to Primo, which is the demo for I'll be gone, and it is so much better than the album version, it is a longer song and so beautiful. I don't think a react video for a single song is warranted, but listen to it in your spare time, it is very interesting
"In My Remains" and "I'll Be Gone" are my two favorite tracks on the album (in that order). Absolutely love them! I think Living Things might be my second-favorite Linkin Park album... though that's hard to say for sure, because other than M2M being my favorite and One More Light being my least favorite, all the others are too equally good for me to truly rank.
Yeah, A Thousand Suns is my favorite, this one is my second, One More Light my least, and the rest nearly tied. I still love One More Light, they don’t really have bad albums, hell they don’t really have bad songs for that matter. It’s wild.
I also kind of stopped listening to this kind of music since late 2010s. Rediscovering them and getting amazed. I enjoyed the whole video. Waiting for the hunting party reaction ..
I've already heard Over Each Other. Musicaly it's a mix of Debris demo and In Pieces from Minutes To Midnight. Definitely more radio friendly and toned down but it's still a solid rock song.
LOOKING FORWARD TO THE REACTION TO THE HUNTING PARTY (NEXT IN ORDER). IT IS THE MOST UNDERRATED ALBUM OF ALL. THANK YOU, ANOTHER SUBSCRIBER ON YOUR CHANNEL. GREETINGS FROM BRAZIL.
The great tragedy is that LP hasn’t released a bad album, yet we turned our backs on them and couldn’t fix it before it was too late. I highly recommend you continue listening to the rest of the 2010 albums (Living Things is their weakest release IMO).
Whoa, Living Things ia most people not their weakest release at all. Every album they release was at the very least pretty good, with the first four being fantastic. Although Meteora is my favorite, I think A Thousand Suns is their magnum opus. Now like I was saying, every record following A Thousand Suns was still pretty good at the very least, but One More Light is the odd one out because that’s their only album that wasn’t good. I think it’s over hated, but still not good(they have a couple songs that are good on it)
I actually put out a video for ATS a few weeks ago but it got blocked a few days after i uploaded it, and now i have to wait for them to review my appeal. In the meantime it's up on my Patreon if you'd like to take look over there.
I really liked their music in the 2000's and then I sort of stopped listening to any heavy or alt stuff in the 2010's so I lost track of what LP was doing. I rediscovered them in 2020, and again with all the rereleases and their return. So now I'm listening through all the albums that I missed. I've got the Hunting Party and One More Light left.
@@davidpwolfe You definitely need to listen to Mike's "Post-Traumatic" after One More Light. It's a brutally raw album, and I would say it's required listening to get the full story of LP. It evolves from the sound of OML, and shows the entire process of Mike grieving Chester's death in harrowing and uncomfortable detail. I've never heard anything like it.
Their worst is one more light Second worst is The Hunting Party Third worst is Living things Fourth worst is Minutes to midnight Fifth worst is Hybrid Theory Sixth worst is Meteora Seventh worst is A Thousand Suns
Living Things has aged very well. An underrated album, full of good songs.
on until it breaks- the singing in the outro is Brad Delson

One of my Favorite Albums from 2012
My favorites on this album of course is Burn It Down and Castle of Glass which i believe they played both in the LPU livestream.
good picks!
"Victimized" really should be on The Hunting Party. It fits that album much better.
I'm glad you enjoyed "Lies Greed Misery", I feel like that song is super underrated. I loved it from the first listen I just thought it sounded so crazy haha but good. You should react to LPU-8. Closest you’ll get to a Christmas album, not that it’s festive just more “unserious” for a lack of better terms lol.
