I was a law enforcement officer for 30 years. A couple misunderstandings are that a large number of criminals are mentally ill, some are but not the majority. Second the belief that most criminals are doing what they do to put food on the table and care for their children. That’s a lie, most criminals want to be criminals and are not interested in living a law abiding life.
What Tony Jones said is true. Our problem is not with the law abiding law enforcing officers. Our problem is in the departments which continue to employ and shield those criminals who continue to use their shield to cover their own behavior, until it becomes impossible to keep it covered.
That's the dam truth! I was one arrested for barely slapping my ex husband. And I went to jail! And I deserved it. But it was so worth it! 30 years of held in anger 😂 And you see when you do what the police ask you to do. Then you don't get shot! And yes I have 2 kids that are bipolar among other things and they refused treatment once they turned 18.and I'm not allowed to put them into hospital to get them the proper meds and help they need. So they go to jail. 😔 😢 😡 we teach our kids to respect policeman, drs. Teachers, judges, nurses the elderly and so on. But then you send them to school and they undo everything that you have instilled in them! They see it in their teachers as much as they do in their piers. I'm scared to send my grandchild to school in the fall. And my husband was an educator for over 30 years ! They don't make good teachers like that anymore. You know the ones that teach and leave their opions at home!

Having served on a jury I believe our judges are more concerned with the sufferings of those committing the crimes than their past and future victims. If boards wish to parole and judges want to grant minimal bail, they should pay the same penalty as the perps that re-offend.

As a young man, I was part of an organization who’s creed included the statement, “Government should be of laws rather than of men.” Laws are passed by legislatures and signed into law by governors. Now, we have DAs that are ignoring laws and doing what they want to do. We also have mayors, governors and even the president issuing mandates, which are not laws but expecting them to be enforced as if they were law. We are becoming a nation ruled by man not law. If we do not reverse this, our country will crumble.
These DA's should be charged as an accomplice to any crime a criminal committs when they are not charged or released back into the community instead of going thru the process of arrest.
I'm so horrified to hear about these incidents, but California believes in their Blue leadership, they had their chance when they primaried Newsom, and the people said give us more so you have what you want..

The relatively small percentage of normal regular people who are homeless because they're either broke or down on their luck, usually go to homeless shelters, or churches for help, that take them in. Most shelters dont allow drugs and or crazy violent behavior. The vast majority of homeless you see on the street every day, are either on drugs, or mentally ill, or both. That's why you see them on the street, because they're not allowed in a homeless shelter.

Lots of "normal" homeless people because rents are high and there are no vagrancy laws. People live in RV's parked along the streets of Los Angeles. Some live in tents on the sidewalk. They do it because they can. Nobody is stopping them. Not everybody can afford to live in LA. That's just how it is. No legislation can change that.
Shelters never have enough resources for all in need, and are filled with dangerous people, been there will never do it again
