Unlocking the Old Testament Part 6 - Genesis 5

  • Looking at Genesis, David Pawson says, the God of the Jews is the God of the Universe - The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The Bible is not God’s answer to our problems, but God’s answer to His problem - what to do with a race that doesn’t want to know you, love you or obey you? God created humans because He wanted a bigger family. The God of the entire universe makes a friend called Abraham. God freely initiated the relationship. God would rather have a believing man than a good man. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob had faith. Ishmael is the father of the Arab nations today. Sarah, Rebecca and Rachel were all very beautiful and had the lasting beauty of inner character. God began creation with one man and began redemption with one man. A covenant is made by one party to bless the other. God makes covenants and He keeps them. He promised Abraham a place to live, descendants, and that He would use them to bless or curse every nation. The calling of the Jews is to share God with everybody. In return, God expected that every male Jew would be circumcised, as a sign that they were born into that covenant, and that Abraham would obey God. They were all commended for their faith yet none of them received what was promised to them. .

3:41 "From Exodus to the last bit of Revelation covers around 1500 years." This is impossible. Revelation has not yet been fulfilled and we're in 2020.
You can accurately say that from Exodus to Malachi covers around 1500 years. I believe this is what Dr. Pawson meant: that Genesis is longer than the rest of THE OLD TESTAMENT.

Hi This is Steve speaking on behalf of David -
You are also correct but the whole of the New Testament ''was written'' in less than 100 years after Christs birth which David wished to include the books of the New Testament as well . Yes David believes and teaches Revelation is future - no question ,
As a History book the Bible starts before any other History Book and ends after every other History book in that it writes about the future.
This talk concerns the book of Genesis and the important point is making is that the first 11 chapters covers many thousands of years, chapters 12-50 is just a short period covering one Family.
John wrote The Book of Revelation in 95 AD, so the other 65 books covers a period of time of just some 1500 years .................acknowledging your comment ''much of Revelation is yet to come''
A more accurate statement would be ''the rest of the Bible up to Revelation ....'' Thank you for pointing this out

Thank you for your clarification and the speedy reply!
I've watched Dr. Pawson's New Testament lectures and he states that the "time compression" continues in the Gospels: from the years of Jesus' ministry to weeks then days and hours up to Christ's crucifixion.
I love these lectures and they've taught me so much.

8:07 "with Abraham he began his solution to this problem." because god so love man, he has to give him free will even when he knew it will cost him his beloved son. his solution did not begin with Abraham. it began before he created the universe to sustain the earth to sustain man's physical life.

Is it true that there are no miracles in Genesis?
Abraham was 100 years old and Sarah was 90 years old, barren and menopausal, but having such natural child was a miracle.
Rebekah was also barren but experienced a miracle in Genesis 25:21 "Isaac prayed to the LORD for his wife, because her wife was barren; the LORD answered her prayer, so that Rebekah, his wife, became pregnant."
Rachel was also barren but later also experienced a miracle that gave birth to Joseph and Benjamin. Regarding Rachel being barren it is written in Genesis 29:31 "When the LORD saw that Leah was not loved, He opened her womb, but Rachel was barren."

7:18 god knew from the very beginning that giving man the free will without being god, will make wrong choices. he already has the answer: our lord Jesus Christ, the lamb of god slain from the foundation of the world. what do you think was the symbol of the animal whose skin was used to cover the "nakedness" of adam and eve?

Hi - can you please remind me what exactly David says ? Im not aware David says Moriah/Golgotha
Genesis 22 v 2 God says to Abraham "Take your son and go to the region of Moriah "
The Temple was built on Mount Mariah and If you go to Jerusalem today the Muslims believe and proclaim The Dome of the Rock is built over that altar
That altar if it is correct, cannot be the same place as where Jesus was crucified, as the Temple existed on that site when Jesus was crucified
If you go to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre you will be told that Golgotha and the altar on which Abram placed Isaac is inside this church ......... not on the Temple Mount
All we know is Abraham was told to go to the region of Moriah ,
      - Jesus was crucified at Golgotha .........but whether Golgotha is inside the Church of the Holy S or is next to the Garden tomb, or somewhere else, there is no universal agreement and you are correct the Bible does not say Abraham took Isaac Moriah/Golgotha and I dont believe its what David says either

Excellent video! I love this man! :) I only have two points of disagreement with this, and both fairly minor…
The first is Mr Pawson's attitude towards Lot. Lot was a righteous man, which the Bible confirms (2 Peter 2:7) yet most Christians (including Mr Pawson) seem to want to slander Lot and paint a picture of him as being immoral. That is very sad. Lot did nothing wrong at all. Yes, he lived in a godless society, but so do I! That doesn't make me evil!
My second disagreement is that Mr Pawson believes the Old Testament Jews have gone to Heaven and will come back with Jesus when He returns. But the Bible doesn't say a word about anyone going to Heaven. It says that everyone who ever lived will be resurrected, at one of two resurrections (a thousand years apart).
    God bless :)

Hi, he described him as in the flesh....and he was.....look at the words lifted his eyes, when used for Abraham is always refers to God talking. Lot lifted his eyes to the valley but ended up a councilman of that wicked city....he lost everything he owned and ended up in a cave...
Lot wasnt evil but in the flesh...that's all.

And we who are alive and remain shall be GATHERED TOGETHER WITH THEM TO MEET THE LORD IN THE AIR....
Who? The DEAD in Christ. Those who are said to sleep in the grave.
"Lazarus is asleep and I go to wake him."
"LORD, if he sleeps shall we let him rest?"
"LORD, if you had been here I know my brother would not have died."
"You shall see your brother, I go to wake him."
"I know I will see my brother again. On THE LAST DAY AT THE RESURRECTION."
      "Lazarus is asleep.....Lazarus is DEAD."
"I AM the resurrection and the life...."
      "Lazarus! COME FORTH!"
Our Hope, is the BLESSED HOPE. and that is the coming of Jesus. Who holds the keys to death and the grave(Hell).

8:38 the scandal of particularity. god's solution to man's disobedience is to give christ not only to redeem us but to show that even as fully human, we can all live the life god guides us to live abundantly. Jesus had to then to become human. to become human, he had to be born like all humans after adam and eve. he had to retain his nature as god for no human can redeem all of the human race from the beginning to the end of time once and for all. humans sinned against god and no human have the wherewithal to make that payment not even just for himself, much less for the entire creation.
so he has to be born of a human being and of course god will have to make that choice. in his wisdom, he picked the line of adam through seth to be the lineage from which Jesus would come. then he could have chosen any of seth's son but the point is, he has to make a choice.
this should not be an issue as jesus died for all who would believe, accept the gift of salvation and remain faithful to the end of his life or if, still alive, when jesus comes again.

He’s on point, but still causes confusion because:
    1. The Most High chose the Israelites as his Nation, the Tribe of Judah was a portion of the Israelite Nation
    2. The religion of Judaism is a State created in 1948 by Kazarians that practiced the religion based on the Kingly Tribe of Judah
    3. Israelites and Israelis are two totally different people, one is the ancient people of the Scriptures, the other is a modern concoction of Statehood
    4. The word and religion Jew came along after the Babylonian captivity, where the Kingly tribe of Judah was allowed to create a province (Yauda) that still paid tribute to Babylon. At that point their culture was not based on Scripture as much as it was blended with Babylonian Witchcraft and called Judaism ie Zionism, ie Zohar etc
    5. If these distinctions are not clearly noted, then it can lead individuals into Babylonian Witchcraft, under the guise they are following Scriptural culture of the Israelites.
    6. The Modern day Israelis are in fact the blood line of Kahzarins who converted into Judaism (again, Judaism is NOT the teachings of scripture and the Israelites…it’s Babylonian) converted into that religion during the time of the Holy wars between Islam and Christianity and their Kingdom was stuck in the middle and chose Judaism rather than any of those two (Note, Christianity and Islam are both Babylonian too).
    7. Modern day Israelites are currently Nationless and are suffering the curses of Deuteronomy because of their disobedience and adulatory with other gods. However they are in the process of waking up and going back to the scriptures as their base of culture. While they have been sleep (as prophesied) a portion of their Kingly tribes culture has been abducted/borrowed and being passed of by a people who the scriptures calls…”the synagogue of Satan” modernity they call themselves Israelis
Overall this guy is on point and is on point, but if you don’t understand Law, Civics and Nationality along with grammar, then his message will deceive you to believe that Modern Jews are the scriptural Israelites from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. There’s no way he knows all this detail about the scriptures, but doesn’t make that distinction very clear between Israelites, Israelis, the tribe of Judah vs Babylonian religion of Judaism. Lastly, the scriptures doesn’t give the Israelites a religion, only statues, laws and commandments to live by

Do you profess to be wise Jeffrey? James chapter 13 is to be recommended:-
13Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. 14But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. 15This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. 16For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. 17But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. 18And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

10:33 Jesus never lived in judeah. he was a galilean. the word "jew" was originally the word used to refer to the people living in the region of "judea" who became exiles in babylon. the use of it to mean the people of god is a corruption of the word. judeah was a region which had more than just the descendants of judah. it had some from the tribe of Levi, some from the tribe of Benjamin, and edomites and others from many nations.

Grace you are correct however the word Jew, whilst originating from the tribe of Judah, by the time of the book of Esther the word Jews was already being used to collectively describe all of the survivors of the children of Israel . This name applied not only to descendants of Judah, but also to those of Levi and Benjamin - and descendants of any of the other tribes who had individuals or families who had happened to have moved to the southern kingdom of Judah, thereby escaping the destruction of the northern kingdom of Israel by Assyria.
Jesus was a Galilean , and he was and is a Jew by the definition of the word Jew sin the time of Esther
Though not from the Tribe of Judah, It was those in the people of the south, ie from the Tribe of Judah that accused him of Blasphemy and sought him to be brought to death
