In other words: they tried to conceal he's a slave

Tbf I don’t think anyone wants to play a game where one of the characters is a literal slave

@@thejesterqueenva1657The amount of Jamil fans who enjoy his original JP character over his censored EN one says otherwise though 😅

@@CatherineDorneles You right but then again, as a Jamil fan themselves idk how to respond to this :v

@thejesterqueenva1657 That's why I said "the amount of Jamil fans" and not "all Jamil fans", it's not unanimous of course.

@@thejesterqueenva1657bro is being loyal to the reality of the game, besides, why a character who is a slave is something that needs to be censored? As I said, it's reality.
Jamil is a slave, and the people who translate the game want to hide this with nice and soft words calling him just an employee, softening the severity of Jamil's life and that's unfair. With that, people will never understand how bad Jamil's situation really is.

As a big Jamil fan, thank you so much for making this video. I'm not bothered by some of the changes on EN but this one bothers me. I feel like it dampens their relationship and takes away a layer of complexity. Jamil and his family's position doesn't sound as hopeless nor make as much sense why he would be 'born into employment.' The line you mentioned that was removed "It is the fate of those born into the Viper family" is to me the worst choice of the part of the translators. That's such a powerful line that shows how hopeless Jamil and his family's situation was. Plus (and this may just be me) but I feel like changing it from 'master and servant' to "employer and employee" is... awkward? Like it doesn't sound right when he constantly refers to himself as an employee instead of when he describes himself a servant. Idk why it bugs me.
Thank you again for the great video. Amazing as always. ❤

I always found his character so interesting and his story so tragic, now seeing this, it makes me angry how much they censored his story.

Again, I am very disappointed in EN translators. I understand that slavery is sensitive subject but you mustn't pretend it doesn't happen. What creators are conveying is the "Cast system" that tends to be seen in India, where you're born in a position and can never rise above it. That's what makes Jamil an understanding overblot. 😣

Jamil’s my favorite character and seeing him being censored kind of makes me upset bc his story is one of the best stories in the game (I’m bias lol). Great video though !!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤

so, TL;DR I got was -- the EN script is heavy censoring the relationship dynamic that Jamil and Kamil.
I guess since knowing most of the western world would be on the EN servers, it might cause the western fans to drop it with the Scarabia book. But at the same time, it kinda loses the motive of Jamil's overblot as well and basically diluted it to just "yeah, I hate being second when I know what I'm capable of". If they did do a direct translation and kept the fact that Jamil is a servant against his will -- it would of made the Scarabia dorm arc much more intresting IMO.

I only play the jp version and wasn't aware of this at all! Omg. I love Jamil, and I wish more people would appreciate him

No! Not my favorite boy being censored! You'll always be my fav but you need to be heard!
Thanks for making the vid! As someone who's been playing the en version for quite a while now, this was much appreciated.

Ah, the video we've all been waiting for!
Finally the boy we've been hinted at this entire time, the one so badly butchered by the localization.

Thanks for making this vid since his actions in the game make a lot more sense now and adds a layer of complexity to his character and relationships, as recommended by somebody in the comments on going to read the fan translations 🥰

Damn I prefer the JP script, it's a lot more detailed on the character dynamics, but the EN makes it feel like Jamil is trying to hide or sugarcoat the whole servant/slave character (which i don't really mind, but it creates a different personality between the JP and EN vers)

Yet another example of terrible English translation used to 'Protect the children' who play these games. 🙄😡

I wonder how many times he planned murder on Kalim

    • @paulaa5167
      @paulaa5167 ปีที่แล้ว +14

Never. He just wished him out of his life, but that doesn't mean he wished him dead. If he was the ruthless, murderous mind that many people think he is, he would have taken advantage of any situation where Kalim almost accidentally killed himself (and there have been many such situations) to let him die.
Jamil believed all his life that kalim was responsible for all his miseries and the only obstacle he had that prevented him from being free, so he obviously wanted him to disappear and not be in his life. Thanks to Leona and what happened in arc 6, Jamil no longer blames Kalim so much for everything, so now I'm sure that whether Kalim is in his life or not is something that doesn't really matter to him anymore.

this bothers me because why would the game need to remove these lines? i know it's a sensitive topic but it feels like they didn't want people outside of japan enjoy twst
