- This might just be the most iconic car that I have had the pleasure of shooting. It quite literally defined an era of automobiles as well as launched, perhaps, one of the most recognizable blue-collar sports cars of all time. The racing pedigree that this car stands for is second to none. The earth shattering sound it produces is reminiscent of the by-gone era in which safety was second. This is a real drivers car and has been currently doing that every so often in the small town of Mansfield, Texas.
This car toured the country with the 1965 Cobra Caravan, a cross-country promotional tour organized by Shelby. The GT350R, a 427 Cobra, a GT40, and a Cobra Daytona Coupe were hauled around in a 42-foot trailer, making stops at Shelby dealers to promote sales.
I cannot say enough great things about this car, the shoot and it's fantastic owner, Paul. It is sessions like this one that make me truly grateful to do what I do for Bring A Trailer.

We recently acquired a 66 fastback on a rotisserie that is started as a GT 350 R tribute.
Im way exited to put it together, I could never afford an R code, and would be hesitant to drive it if I did, so totally stoked this working man will get to actually experience what this represents.
We have a 68 firebird so I’m very curious to A/B the experience.

Super loud!!! We needed ear plugs while riding around in it. At first I opted to not, then I realized I couldn’t hear anything. Absolutely violent!
I have been curious about the noise level inside the car because I'm building my Coupe identical with side exit exhaust. I asked that ? On a different video but didn't get the information ℹ was looking for. Thanks for sharing that info, I'll still do side exit but will have glass packs.
I'm 54. I had a Shelby in '86-88 It's okay you can give them a little gas. They can handle it.

This Mustang 65 GT350R , because not being a Paxton version this car is good with the atmospheric 289Ci and not with a supercharger , right ?
What is are weight/power ratio > 350hp for ~2700-2800pounds, gold...?

I know between 350 - 360 HP.
Stock would have been 289 Cid with 306 hp. R models were modified even more than than just the standard gt350. Ported heads and bigger carbs put some of those 289s in the 450hp range. Crane ported some heads for shelby that became the gt40 heads that were sold otc

C'est bien un 289ci ; pour les premières années (64-65 et peut-être même 66 & 67) il n'y avait pas de 302ci (ou alors peut-être à partir du 2 semestre de 67...?)
Et puis le 302ci qui est un moteur Boss , n'équipait pas les versions GT350 mais plutôt les versions "302Boss". 😉

Me thinks ragging out million dollar cars wouldn’t be great for the auction. The fact that he’s even out driving this car is enough for most people.
A bunch of great Mustang videos on TH-cam but I rank this one probably the best! Yes, I love Mustang Sally but it is a music video and this is a individual video. Love your car and how you added the music along with the ride. I bought my first 65 Mustang in 1990, still have it, mine is the coupe version of yours.
