This absolutely deserved Game of the Year. I'm 44 years and playing this I suddenly realised this is what it felt like playing games as a kid, just pure fun and joy with nothing of the BS that infests modern gaming.
Yes! I played it at launch cause I've been starved of big 3d platformers like this and was so happy. The director said they weren't obligated to make it a certain number of hours or anything and that shows. No bloat just pure varied and perfectly tuned gameplay with fun homages
In a way Elden is more accessible. Summons, ashes of war and levelling up make beating bosses easier. With Astro bot there are no features that make the game easier. People who are bad at platformers might never beat challenge levels.
34:03 "When you watch this game, I don't think you can really understand...You kind of take it for granted". Yep. The way the controller sounds and feedback add to the experience is something you just can't understand watching someone else play. So much so that this game can't be properly played on anything other than a PS5 controller.
The triangle stage is a special and relatively difficult stage because if you die, you'll have to start over from the beginning. This is just the triangle-there's still the square, cross, and circle to come. So, good luck!
Trunk of Funk is amazing, definitely the best level. But the mouse one is really good too... There were only 3 levels I didn't like much in the whole game.
My first playthrough started the 21th of December, also after the game of the year reward announcement 😂👌I played a litte of astro playroom before, but this one is much better so far 😊yes I'm a 35 years old female
I think this deserved GOTY because there was no really strong contender this year and this was really fun. Sometimes genuinely Astrobot was harder than Elden ring, because I’m not used to this style of game. So like the toughest challenges were harder for me than some of the Elden ring stuff.
Astro bot not harder then Elden ring😂 I love watching you play other games though I’d like to see you continue this little mini series love your content INK❤
In a way Elden Ring is more accessible. You can use summons, ashes of war and level up before jumping into bosses. Astro bot has a fixed difficulty. If you struggle with platformers. You might never be able to complete the challenge levels.
I think a platform game like this could do Playstation some good from time to time, they stopped this game concept a long time ago and I hope they bring it back with the success of Astro Bot.
I think there is an interesting misconception surrounding Souls games even by its own developers (FromSoft), perhaps because of the context. Demon's Souls, the first one of its kind in 2009 was considered a difficult game because it released during an era full of quick time events and corridor hack and slash games that didn't require much brains. Games before that in the PS2/Xbox era could actually be quite tough regardless of their genre, you had "souls like" (hard) platformers, racing games, JRPGs, shooters, etc. Demon's Souls (at least the PS3 original) is not exactly a hard game, it's more of a puzzle game because each boss has its own gimmick that allowed you to take them out without sweating once you understand what you were doing. Unfortunately, even FromSoft themselves believed that what made the game enjoyable was the "difficulty" which couldn't be further from the truth. The game was only difficult because people quite literally didn't think. Thus with each Souls installement onwards, the games actually became harder to the point they're just annoying now. Dodge roll 24/7, and the bosses are all huge with ridiculous range to the point a lot of players just cheese by overlevelling, play in co-op or use exploits with broken weapons. Somehow it has become a badge of honor to beat these games online so of course then came the clones like Lies of P, Nioh, Wukong, etc, all to cash in on the trend and all doing the same mistakes FromSoft has commited the last 8 or so years (except Sekiro). So it's ironic to see Souls streamers especially struggle with 3D platformers, what they deem as "kids games". We had already witnessed this phenomenon back in 2017 with the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy.
If there are any bots or puzzles left behind, you can just enter. Once you've collected everything, you can exit without needing to finish it to the end; your progress will be saved automatically.
Not like zerlda breath of the wild that sold for 32 million copies, as GOTY astrobot only sold for 1,5million copies mean today game award decided by only 1,5m random players plus woke dei lgbt supporters??? how stupid is that?
Glad so many more people will get to experience the greatness that is Astro Bot now that it won GOTY

Exact
Same, but about to turn 51!
Grown men saying Astro Bot is harder than Elden Ring is my new favourite thing XD

Astro Bot is one hit death the entire game. That's next level hard

I love this game. This is what gaming used to be.
This game sooooo goood, this my game of year for sure

Aww you were on the cusp of the two best levels, trunk of funk and the mouse one! Continue!
I replayed Trunk of Funk multiple times because I liked the level so much. Plus playing with all the apples post boss lol
Trunk of Funk is amazing, definitely the best level. But the mouse one is really good too... There were only 3 levels I didn't like much in the whole game.
@@MrFwibbles Th mouse level was also one of my favorite levels!
You can exit the level after you get the missed bots and puzzles on your second run, you don't have to finish the level again

All souls games are just parry. Learn that and you beat the game

These levels are difficult because they are challenge levels, challenges have to be difficult, right?
Those shapes special areas are kicking my butt,I've only managed the first one so far, think I've tried more times than for Malenia.
I bought this for my son for xmas and i platinumed it for myself today, the game is a joy to play
The triangle, circle, square and cross are the challenge levels so they're gonna get more difficult as you go. The rest of the game is quite chill.
This man asks so many questions lol
All you needed to do was press start to leave a planet when you've found everything...you dont have to redo the entire level again
I waited to see what you were going to get from the gatcha machine and you didn't go there
If there are any bots or puzzles left behind, you can just enter. Once you've collected everything, you can exit without needing to finish it to the end; your progress will be saved automatically.
1:14:00 I aint gonna lie you're pretty god at Ape Escape lmfao
astrobot harder than elden ring, It get's better , the final challenge level is one of my favorite platforming puzzles , trust your jumps.
if you do a ratio deaths per time (d/t) astrobot's probably would be higher than elden ring
This game gave me sonic and super mario flashbacks. Removes ao kuch stress
Every minute: "i still dont know what the coins do"
Astrobot harder than Elden Ring . Next levels are amazing

played it, nice game but some levels are too hard for no reason
Is this a joke?
@@Ussop_the_GOAT A game that makes people think? Difficult indeed...
Astro bot is harder than Elden Ring? Lmao
At some points, yes, it is. Even some Kirby games can be hard at points.
COTY: Cringe Of The Year!
So basically you.
Not at all sure why you think this game is cringe.
Pretty sure astro bot will remain a PS exclusive
