- I visited a vegetarian pizza shop where I tried a unique but delicious Pizza and the best Pizza in Kandy by far in my opinion, I then visited a local temple and was going to Temple of the Tooth but a local told me the price and I misunderstood him and thought it was very expensive to visit. Nevertheless I will go back when I visit Kandy maybe soon!

Great video! Also you have to go the Temple of the Tooth Relic. That is like “The thing to do” in Kandy. It’s a large temple and palace complex of Sri Lanka’s last kingdom.

Oh the "Temple of the Tooth" is not one to be missed. I'm glad you decided to go later. It is a Buddhist site but it's not just a temple. It's actually the palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, so there is a lot for non-Buddhists to see, like paintings (some walls and roofs are painted too), amazing architecture, daily rituals with drums and other instruments, a taxidermy elephant (this elephant carried the tooth of the Buddha for decades in processions, and was one of the most celebrated elephants in Asia), a museum, live elephants who take part in processions, etc.
The Sinhala name for the temple is "Sri Dalada Maligawa", and "maligawa" means "palace".
It's a World Heritage Site too, so it's a popular tourist destination among foreign and local tourists.

Please visit St Sebastian and st Anthony Church in colombo, where they witnessed Easter Sunday Bomings which took 300 lives. They have still preserve those blood stains.
It's an catholic neighborhood in colombo with mix culture and great food too. TH-camr Harld Baldr also visited that church.

I'm glad you are trying the jackfruit. They are awesome, especially the ripe one. You can see them at the market in Sri Lanka. You can see them a lot in south east Asia. A friend of mine use the unripened jackfruit for protein in barbeque for Christmas dinner.

We have Jack Fruit here in Canada now (imported from Mexico). I tried some a couple of years ago from our Walmart (was new at the time and I, like you, had never heard of it/seen it before). After trying it, the flavour instantly reminded me of the gum "Juicy Fruit" if you're familiar with that haha. It was pretty good. I tried the canned stuff after and it was awful... Cutting the chunks of fruit off yourself is way tastier!
What did you think of it when you tried it? Obviously it was on a pizza so you didn't try it on its own but still curious. :) I haven't bought it since but it was definitely cool to try!

Very unique and interesting blend of toppings for a pizza.. jackfruit could be consumed in various methods of cooking, raw or the baby jackfruit is cooked whereas the ripe fruit is very delicious and fragrant.. try it if you get a chance and let us know your opinion, cheers!👍🏼

You can find Baby Jak fruit overseas either tinned in brine or frozen.The locals were mostly vegetarians untill the arrival of the Europeans .If you go to remote areas still you find people who considers meat eaters like they would barbarians.
I think the Buddha statue you are looking for is the one on Bahirawakanda hill.That is the white statue looking down on Kandy.A point of history also as Kandy was the last kingdom to fall to the Europeans.In the olden days criminals would be rolled down the hill in drums with spikes.The name of the hill roughly translates to devils hill or demon mountain.It is not an easy walk if i remember.

When you get back in brum Jack fruit widely available around the midlands and uk wide Asian stores and markets wing yip in brum sell them and tinned too. It’s massive now in vegetarian and vegan food as a meat substitute they use it like pulled pork beef and chicken back home 👍
