Excellent video my friend... lovely presentation and use of pictures.... Wonderful to see some new watches, well ones I've not seen before... so digital display next, can't wait. Thanks for taking the time to produce this, am guessing it took time, but very worth it ;) Big thumbs!
Compared to the production behind the two recent videos you did , I’m embarrassed! But hopefully some useful intel in there. Once time permits I’ll try and add a bit more dynamism on the presentation!
@@IlluminatingWatches You have a different edge my friend, and you are much like my good friend at Watch Crazy.... time will grow with your production, it's something that just keeps improving... not sure what is happing with TH-cam, but I'm not getting as many views and subscribers... the views have gone down by at least 60% which is shocking???? but I enjoy making the content, and loyal subscribers is more valuable than bought ones LML :-P
Nice into video. A few corrections are needed thou, LIP's 1952 prototype wasn't the R27, it was a different grade. Elgin's 1952 prototype was also a different grade. The 1952 is side set, the grade 722 was backset and appears 1953. It nearly made it to market in 1955 and several models were produced but then the release was delayed. LIP also produced a sold state (as in circuit to drive the coils) R27 in 1958, this was displayed publicly, making it one of the first solid state watches around even thou it still had a balance wheel. You should investigate battery tech next.
Nice! Thanks so much for the additional intell. As I’m sure you can tell - my videos are normally my first foray into the topic as an enthusiastic amateur - rather than being based on deep expertise. I do need to revisit the topic as it’s been a while (I’ve done a separate video on Lip watches you may enjoy) . Thanks again!
Very informative. Didn't know the difference between the electric and quartz watches. Surprised that even the Old Dogs jumped on the train of Electric watches. Good job & fun!
Fun right? Even seiko had a horse in the game. Apparently bulovas patent blocked them for so long that they were forced to innovate and Quartz and digital was the result!
I have been to Graceland and also at several auctions and I have seen Elvis Presley's hamilton ventura and I have seen the solid 14karat gold ventura not the cheaper one that you mentioned and as far as I'm aware and is commonsense.. why would a man as rich as Presley have the cheaper hamilton???
Thankyou! The Hamilton Ventura and indeed its links with Elvis are definitely whole areas of expertise where I definitely don’t claim to be an authority. I may well be inaccurate in what I’ve said (been a bit since i made this one so my memory has faded somewhat), Hope you enjoyed the broader topic!
Big appreciation to the folks digging this far back into the catalog of the channel. Appreciate you!
I love that you put your references in your video! Thanks for the book suggestions!
Always try to!!! Thanks!

Very informative and well done! 👍🏻
Very kind!
LIP is also notable for being a worker owned co-op for some time, a monument in labor history.
I’ve done a whole video on it! Worth a look :)
Very interested stuff, nicely done.
Thank you!! I’ve been watching quite a few of your vids recently too.
@@IlluminatingWatches yes I have seen you popping in & commenting etc on some of my videos thanks for watching its much appreciated.
@@somewhereintimewatchreviews my pleasure. Saw you on MWCs mad chat a while back which got you into my pool of channels I check
I have one of those German Electric watches, must resurect it.
Wow, this is news to me. I figured Hamilton was the originator of electrics.
Fascinating story I thought. I went down a big Lip rabbit hole after making this one
