Most of the time they try and act like they're scared or ask you stupid questions about why you are not acting like a typical stereotype of black people to make you feel inferior. You just have to ignore them and let them think what they want. Narcissists and prejudice people say things just to get a reaction out of you. Starve them. Dont feed the trolls.

Marcel Gardner I agree. This isn’t advice reserved for Japan. Kind of a waste of time... it would’ve been more accurate to title this “black guy talks about his experiences in Japan” or something to that nature rather than eluding towards this video talking entirely about women in Japan, which is what I assumed.

This world is very disconnected.. Your fears will override ur limitations..Do the relationships u have " got ur back?".Black people most of all, have a Universal God given intuitive sense. Maybe we ought to spend some time trusting that man in the mirror..It saddens me greatly when we undervalued our ability to override the labels that are put forth out of fear and most of the time pure ignorance. Your ancestry speaks for itself..Never forget the inherent dignity that our leaders, many who died, instilled in our hearts and minds.Pass that on to the youth for this is the legacy they have left..The ability to "relate" and our own "self- respect" has surpassed many culturally indifferences. I do find that it is here in this country , where it is most likely to be challenged. Even amongst own people. I am my brother"s keeper..wherever I may go..

OMG, when i did a homestay with my Jamaican friend in a small town in S. Korea, yes people stared at me a little bit when I was walking alone, but when he was around (he's dark btw), stares went up by 1000%. He was used to it, but I thought it was very annoying and outright disrespectful. Here in Bangkok when i spot someone that I don't know staring at me, I will stare right back, that usually gets them to stop or look somewhere else. Sometimes i found that it was just staring out of curiosity.

Be careful this channel is so addictive lol. I only discovered yesterday after a video suggestion popped out. I didn’t even looked for any Japanese related topics. I myself African, lived in the UK and now living in Canada. I always was interested in Asian culture but never had the chance to to learn about it. I guess better late than never. Thanks again for those wonderful videos

All my life... I have been exactly where he is at and have been... Its amazing to see truth on this level... The Japanese arenot seen as racist or biased because of their humble culture and nature... But in reality... He is not exposing what isnot already known... He is simply placing the pieces of the puzzle together... And in my opinion, he did a fine and masterful job... This was inspiring on levels you could never understand until you see you me in Tsubiki orTokyo for the simple fact that our image is tarnished because of Western culture... Blessedly a great nation... But like any other, FAR from perfect... Today is the start of our new beautiful future... Take advantage... Because its here now and gone tomorrow... Love this bro... Thank you so much for clearing the air...

@ The Black Experience Japan....Miss Japan was called everything under the sun except Japanese. My daughter is stationed there and plans on visiting some tourist traps on her down time. This video was very informative and I'll have her watch the series before she commits to an itinerary. Thanks for taking your time in doing the interviews.

At 6:46 as an Asian person, we all have this same attitude. When someone of another ethnicity speaks our language our first reaction is "holy shit that's cool!" Because to us that's rare and we didn't expect that someone would want to learn our language.

Same in Beijing, China. On one occassion, the taxi driver almost had a heart attack when I asked him to pull over so as I could take a leak and then go to an atm before dropping me home. He was really friendly and amazed that I could speak Chinese. Another time the guy was surprised for the wrong reason! He tried to overcharge me by 150 kuai (RMB) and when I told him that I had been living in BJ for 10 years and so knew the route very well. He choked on his water bottle and was incapacitated with shock when I said to him he was only getting 70 kuai for his taxi fare while I jumped out and tossed the notes to him. You do meet all sorts!

The Black Experience Japan I think it would be awesome to send out your interviewers to actually go out and do interviews with Japanese people regarding their impressions and interactions with people of color.
This could serve a couple purposes, first to get a better understanding of their perceptions and secondly to help educate them. These interviews should extend to all segments of society i.e. store owners police educators restauranteurs etc.
We are more than hip hop artist and athletes and your channel can help educate folks there.
Consider setting up a PayPal account so we can support your channel directly.

There are a lot of Black Africans in Asia speaking their languages.
When I lived there, I met numerous African men.
Thing is, I stood out because I was an African American.
    And cause I’m 6’7 350lbs+
I had the opposite experience. Neither Chinese, Japanese or Koreans acted afraid of me.
Either they looked curious or ignored (try to ignore).
I totally agree that you should have some skills conversing, reading and writing the language before you live there.

If you want to live in other country. It's a smart thing you can do is to learn how to speak their native languages, cultures and know how to read in their writing scripts to fit in the local people.

I'm in the same boat with a few discrepancies, I'm 6'3" and 250 and have also just had more folks look at me with curiosity. That usually goes out the window when I speak Japanese, and I'm just considered one of the homie's at that point.
I'll never go back to China though, I worked there for 4 years in post with the State Dept. and my experiences with the locals was one sided no matter how much I did to deflect a negative image.

Applause, applause, applause!! I'm originally from Chicago, IL (living in Teas) - it has been awesome to see that many men of color has taken the leap of faith and journeyed abroad from Illinois. There ain't nothing good happening in the Chi for the vast majority. My dad is a retired police officer from Hazel Crest, which is like around the block from Country Club Hills. I wish this man much luck; with prayers and blessings to surround him.
