Gday Elyce, this is a really informative video especially for expats who may be wanting to start a family in Germany. Since your move to Germany from Australia, I have been an interested follower of your journey. I think you are a very courageous and competent young woman. It’s been so inspiring for me to watch you navigate life in Germany, especially learning the language, growing a relationship, adjusting to a different culture and surroundings and now starting your family in Germany. I can relate to you about being away from family at this very important period of your life. I know how much I relied on my family, especially my mum when I was pregnant and had 2 small children. It seems that you have a wonderful partner in Jay who I’m sure will be a wonderful support to you and fantastic dad. Of course then there is big sister Elaina, who I’m sure will delighted to meet her new little brother. . I look forward to hearing and seeing more from you as you experience this miracle of life. Stay happy and well gorgeous girl. 🐣🍼👼

Thank you for the lovely comment! I really appreciate your feedback. It’s so nice to build this supportive community of friends on here. Jay, Elaina and I are very excited to welcome our baby into the world. Baby boy is going to be showered with love. I look forward to sharing more of my experiences with you and my followers. Thanks again for brightening my day. I hope you have a lovely week. Take care xx

Hi Elyce, once again I am so happy for you that you are having a smooth and enjoyable pregnancy!
Now I know why your mom was glowing in the videos from Australia. It was not (only) because her daughter came home, but she got to see her grandkid.
About choosing the hospital, you can check their websites. Usually they offer so called "Informationsabende" where they show you around and inform you about their facilities. With that information from different hospitals you can then make your choice.
My daughter was born in the University Hospital on the Venusberg in Bonn, which was not our first choice but sometimes special circumstances require a specialized hospital. I am not gonna go into detail here as I don't want to scare you. Instead I want you to continously enjoy your pregnancy. Let me just tell you, she got the care she needed and everything turned out fine and later this summer she will legally be allowed to buy her own beer and wine...
I hope you all have a beautiful week and greetings from the other side of the Rhine.

Hi Matze, Thank you for the message ☺️. Yes mum was thrilled to see me and experience the ultrasound with me. It was a special time. Thanks for your advice about hospitals. I’m glad everything turned out well for your daughter. Have a lovely week too and I hope you get to enjoy celebrating your daughters big birthday coming up. How exciting for her. Take care. Thanks for watching and your support.

Congratulations for getting through your first trimester.
Basically, if you show symptoms of one or multiple of whatever condition that seems most predominant, then you can go directly to a specialist here in Germany without a GP referal. It is the concept of "freie Ärztewahl" / "free choice of doctor". But if you aren't sure what it might be, it is preferable to still go through a GP, reducing the amount of time at multiple specialists if a GP has already given it a look and reduced the possible sources of your condition.
So if you've been missing your period for more than three weeks over its usual due date you can definitely go to a "Frauenarzt" = "women's doctor" or OB/GYN directly.
If you are pregnant, go talk to your employer. Most of the time they are very accomodating to pregnant women. If your "morning nausea" isn't exactly in the morning maybe they can offer you a break with a lie-down or something like that. If it very severe you can also get an earlier Mutterschutz from your OB/GYN which allows you to leave your job a lot earlier than 'only' in the last six weeks before your due date while still retaining your salary.
11:35 Aawwww, that cute little baby bump... haha, so I must be around week 78 or so, with my huge belly... as a 52-year old man. 😂
As I've just recently discovered it is mostly the Hebamme in Germany that does the actual labor and delivery support during birth, not your OB/GYN.

Hallo Superfamilie!

Aufpassen.

12:44 Honestly.... WHAT?... Finding a "Hebamme" who speaks english is a challenge? In Germany? Finding a "Hebamme" in Australia who speaks german is a challenge. What are you talking about?

    • @elyce_patricia
      @elyce_patricia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Just sharing my experience. My doctor also said it would be a challenge. Yeah finding a midwife who speaks german in aus would be harder for sure.

    • @wora1111

Of course it is hard to find a German nurse that will admit to be able to speak English. Speaking is no problem but admitting to speak? Every nurse will be certain that there are several English terms she should know but only learned the German terms. So she probably will hold back. Didn't Olivia set up a dictionary for that situation. Heck, as a German guy I learned a lot of new words when our first child was born!

Sorry, we germans have no sense of humour, but can we please all be able to watch the birth on screen?
