He is overrated in my opinion. His SLG is only .497 this year and his three highest WAR seasons are 7.0, 5.8 (2020 prorated) and 4.7. Compare that to Trout (a true generational player) at the same age. He already had a 10.7 WAR, 9.4 and 7.9 And he ended up with a 9.4 WAR in his 5th season as well. Mookie also had a 6.0 and 9.4 WAR season by that same age. I’m not saying Soto isn’t a great player but he isn’t worth anywhere near the price tag it would take to get him this year. Which is Gore, Hassell. Abrams, Ruiz and also taking on the dead money of Corbin. Also it would take 550 million to lock him up before free agency. I understand the Padres are desperate but my God
