    I love that she uses products like baby oil and neutrogena. Yes, she probably could buy more fancy products, but for some of us, those products are all we can afford, and if they're ok to use and not harming the skin it's a great option if you are on a tight budget (and of course if you know HOW to use them). So I'm glad to see someone use products that she knows work even if they're "cheap" and not just using a 300 hyaluronic acid serum just because she can buy it.

    • @Maria-kn7hi
      @Maria-kn7hi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      not even just that but those expensive products are usually just duds and contains so much fragrance, alcohol, or essential oils and contian none of the good things.She is smart that she buys these products and that she posts these products, so many people buy expensive af products just bc there fav celebs buy them. Cheap brands like cerave are my fave and the ordinary aswell... helps my skin so much!!

    • @kendallstark4302
      @kendallstark4302 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Unless you experience a negative reaction you're probably OK. Also, the product probably won't be as effective. And the date on the pack, which is usually the month and year, means that it's still good until the very end of that month.

    • @MyLittleVoicee
      @MyLittleVoicee 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      A lot of the time, expiration dates are referring to how long the preservatives will protect the product from microbes growing in it after you open it. If you haven’t opened it then like the other commenter said it will be less effective but basically safe. If you have opened it then you run the risk of getting bacteria in your skin so tread lightly!

    Lol my mom never taught me ANYTHING about skincare. She wears a full face of makeup to bed every. Single. Night. (Even though everyone tells her not to) she’s done it for like 30 years. Never wears sunscreen. Takes off her makeup with vaseline in the morning & washes her face with a foaming cleanser even though she has dry skin. She does moisturize though. I’ll give her that lol. Sooooo with that being said, everything I know about skincare is from research and dermatologists.

      Hi! I will recommend you a skincare routine but remembering that you don't need to follow all the steps if some aren't necessary for you, just adapt it according to your skin's needs!
      -1 step: *cleansing oil* (cleansing oils has innumerable benefits to the skin, change the texture, appearance, do a researched if you need to) it besides removing all impurities from your skin based on oil, removes excess makeup, sunscreen and etc; don't worry if your skin is oily because similar attracts similar.
      -2 step: *double cleanse* which is the practice of using a facial soap that doesn't remove the natural oils produced by your skin.
      -3 step: *exfoliation* to remove dead skin cells leaving your skin brighter and lush and to unclog pores.
      -4 step: the use of a *moisturizing tonic* that in addition to introducing water to your skin it will also balance the skin's pH and preparing to receive the next products, i don't recommend tonics that contain alcohol.
      -5 step: the use of a *serum* (product that contains a high concentration of an active ingredient).
      -6 step: *moisturizing cream*
      -7 step: *eye cream* (the skin around our eyes is the most sensitive in our body).
      -8 step: *sunscreen*

      @@MarissaCooperButPoor If you really think about it, mineral oil is much more sustainable than organic plant oils. Mineral oil is a way to utilize the waste products from the petroleum industry, while plant oils require intensive agriculture and deforestation and are even threatening the survival of some species like sandalwood.
      It's really eye opening to realize not everything is as black and white as we used to think. Sometimes "clean" ingredients take a much harder toll on the environment than "unclean" ones.

    It’s crazy because to me because I’ve always used continuous control acne cleanser with 10 benzoyl peroxide. But it has never ever dried my face out. Even the first time I used it it didn’t. But the other kind asyliac however you spell it dries me out sooooo bad. I never knew that benzoyl was for people with bad acne.

    Master esthetician here. I love benzoyl peroxide for myself. In combo with salicylic acid for comedones. Benzoyl peroxide can kill p acne bacteria. And salicylic acid and unclog the pores and help with comedones. However, I do recognize that it is very sensitizing and not for everyone. I prefer to use it in a wash. I also like to use it in combo with ceramides and barrier strength products. It can be very stripping.

    I see derms suggest plain mineral oil to remove makeup all the time. I like to see it in a cleansing oil because it’s got some nice viscosity for massage, it’s well tolerated, and it’s too large to really clog pores.
    Edit: would not mix the ascorbic acid tho! Penetration greatly decreases with the PH going up and she’s mixing with a cream before applying

    I have had SUPER stubborn acne since puberty. I’ve been on everything including Accutane. After Accutane, My derm gave me a prescription for a 5% benzoyl peroxide spot treatment and a Rentin-A. Both products saved me from getting my cystic acne. Nowadays it’s more hormonal and mild to moderate. I much prefer benzoyl peroxide for salicylic acid.

    It’s really important to understand that acne has many contributing factors - everything from abnormal desquamation, inflammation, hormones, excess oil production, and acne causing bacteria. They’ve shown that combination therapy is the most effective for acne because that way you’re targeting multiple causes. BPO and a retinoid is incredibly effective because a retinoid alone doesn’t go after that bacterial component.

But she has taken great care of her skin and I think she’d agree she’d much rather not have eyebrows than have skin cancer or sun spots or anything else. (Also a lot of times the eyebrow loss is genetic, my grandma and great aunt lost their eyebrows too, and my sister is starting to lose hers)
