  • Kyle joined Brett and Joe on CJ Strike Reservoir south of Boise, Idaho for an incredible day of chasing multiple species. We caught a bunch of Crappie, Perch, and a number of huge White Sturgeon all on camera. Come along on this adventure. We are so glad you are here!

    I'll be coming out in April for a 3day trip with my son and uncle, looking forward to seeing them both hook up on their fish of a lifetime. Making memories is what I'm after.

      Okuma Cedros Jigging Rods.
      Some of our guides love them for sturgeon

    I'm looking for waders for wearing while on the boat, what have you found works best?

    • @jonessportfishing
      @jonessportfishing  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends on the time of year. During the winter we like the really well insulated duck hunting waders, and when it’s warmer we swear by Simms waders

    Could you guys make a video on how and when to set the hook on a sturgeon

      That’s a great idea. Maybe I can work on some of my voice over stuff on some video we already have and I can explain what we are waiting for

    I live in mountain home, my go to spot is down on the snake river, we snagged a 10' 2" last November, my damn boat needs a water pump and the weather spikes are keeping me off the river😂

    • @jonessportfishing
      @jonessportfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The weather is making things hard for sure. Just an FYI a 10’2” fish would be the catch and release state record of pictures of it were taken with the tape, and everything was submitted to fish and game.
      Congratulations on the huge fish

    what area of the lake for these perch thanks

      This time of year they can be in a few different spots, but a good place to start looking are the big mud flats out in front of black sands. 30-50 feet of water

    Is there a way to target the Catfish out there without getting sturegon?

    • @jonessportfishing
      @jonessportfishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would fish for catfish in the Bruneau Arm. In the spring they spawn in the shallow water near the Jacks Creek area

    Running braid right to terminal tackle can be very hard on the fish. They roll in that braid and it will slice them up something terrible. I always run 20 yards or more mono between braid and terminal, way better for these guys. In winter they don’t tend to roll like in summer. Maybe you use some mono in summer, hopefully?
    I think Schwartz stopped the use of braid in his pond, too many fish got sliced up and died.

      We have caught hundreds of fish with heavy braid and never had an issue.

    • @marvinsauer8493
      @marvinsauer8493 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They roll a lot more in summer.

    • @jonessportfishing

      We have caught fish that have had lighter 65 and 80 pound braid wrapped up and cutting them, but the heavy 120-150 pound 8 strand braid like we use has never been an issue

    • @marvinsauer8493
      @marvinsauer8493 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Makes sense. I’ve had several roll on me, mono saved them. I do run 65 and 80, depending on rod, maybe I need to up the test will keep it from cutting. The 65 lb is hell on your hands if you ever have to pull loose from snag. Gotta use club handle/boat cleat or that stuff will slice your hands to the bone.
      I bet I’ve landed some of the same fish you were catching!

    Can we do a bank fishing for a crappie yet ?

    • @jonessportfishing
      @jonessportfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately for bank anglers they are still hanging out over deep water. It will be late March and April before some of these fish start moving shallow.
