Ray Copeland y Clark Terry tenian que tener a Monk muy, muy cabreado.....

Ray Copeland has listened to way too much Miles. Capable in his own right, sucks to hear so much Miles coming out instead of his own self.

sorry but monk on ruby is messing around with the time too much on the head of ruby. and venting during the sax solo. sounds nothing like the studio version. angular is one thing, this is sabotage. he is stepping on the soloist intentionally cuz he is in a bad mood, and feeling weird. look at the film version of this London.
Monk was on the verge during this tour. Wouldn't give the band the charts to complete the copies for the upcoming show. Totally weirded out. You can hear it in his playing too.
it's far from his best stuff. Very very far. At least on Ruby. Maybe he calmed down later

Great comment & observation, I knew there was somethng off about 'Ruby'; so I listened again after reading your comment & I think u hit the nail on the head. Definately a cool performance regardless, alot of energy from the group; gets swinging at some point.

My father turned me on to Munk while I was twelve. Fine musicianship

"while I was twelve', I love that phrasing. Most would say 'when'. Somebody smarter than me can describe why 'while' seems like a better description. Something to do with our conception of time.

@@gratefulgregg9058 Maybe something to do with spelling his name "Munk," an equally mystical decision
