      You democrats are way too anti-work. Its because of high taxes to support the nonworking that these people make lower wages, otherwise crab would be imported from countries with cheaper labor. If the gov wasn't paid a wage for doing NOTHING people would get more money. Do you see why democrats high tax policies are very bad for people?

      You're right! I actually, literally, just watched an episode of "Delicious Destinations" on this exact company from 2008 and every lady was Black. Which is what brought me to this video because one lady they showed could precisely pic a crab in 9 seconds. I wanted to watch her in a slower speed to effectively learn for myself. They're contracted with the government now so I guarantee the pay for the labor is not acceptable for many US citizens. Government/Company slavery, chain gang for pennies.

      @@n.morris102 Yep. I am from MD and made several road trips there back in the 90s and 2000s. I remember seeing them, and there was even a "museum" of photos on the walls of the buildings there. Hard-working women. :)

      When I was little I wanted to be a crab picker when I grew up. I’m here on the coast of NC. Still eating crabs 2-3 days a week. I pick all summer to have “acorns for the winter.” I would go to Oriental with my Grandaddy in the 90s. He would deliver seafood to Ocracoke and Hatteras restaurants. I would stand by as a tiny little thing and watch the pickers while he loaded his truck. I can confirm most pickers were black women and they were and still are my heroes. They were always so kind to me. Their skill was incredible and now, I know realize hard that work must have been. Last picking plant I went to was in Arapahoe about 10 years ago and most of the staff were Hispanic. I think both picking operations have since shut down. 😢 Most crab we get here in the US now is imported.

    If it’s less than 20 companies there than it should be a lot of people there willing and able to pick crabs. Not bring people in to do it

    • @n.morris102
      @n.morris102 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly! Government and Company Slavery is what it is. They bring them in on a work visa for a 6 mth period. Work them for less than the required minimum wage, I'm sure, they would have to pay a US citizen. Very cheap labor, super profit and benefits for them.

    • @ICantBelieveItsButters
      @ICantBelieveItsButters ปีที่แล้ว

      @@n.morris102 this is just a stupid comment. you cannot hire a migrant working with a visa to work below minimum or average wage for the particular job in the region. Please look up the H-2B program.
      It isn't like H-1B programs that hight college educated migrant workers for tech and fashion that can pay under competitive wages such as what google, microsoft, and amazon do.
      You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. There are no migrant workers here on a work visa for agricultural services that are allowed to be paid under the minimum wage for the job done in the region they are in.
      "work them for less than the required min wage, I'm sure, they would have to pay a US citizen. Very cheap labor, super profit and benefits for them".... Well you are wrong. the H-2B work visa requires employers to attest to the DoL that it will offer a wage that equals or exceeds the highest of the prevailing wage.
      If an employer like crabbers, need to hire migrant workers via the H-2A program, they must state that there are not sufficient enough workers who are qualified, willing, able and available to conduct the job as well as have made an attempt to hire US workers before filling the positions with migrant visa holders...
      SO AGAIN, there is not a CHOICE to hire migrants over US Citizens... They are LITERALLY FORCED TO because US Citizens are not filling the job.
      Ag visas MUST offer a wage equal to or greater than the Federal or State min wage and ENSURE that the wages they pay will not negatively affect the wages in the region. (ex. not paying too low where it lowers regional wages, and not paying too much where it forces increases regional wages.... basically supporting the idea that McDonalds isn't a skilled labor job and should be paid $22 an hour because migrant workers are carrying out skilled and laborious work at $28 an hour. OR not paying migrant workers $10 and hour forcing McDonalds to cut to minimum wage.)
      So again, the issue isn't migrants working and US companies firing US citizens to pay someone "cheaper", it is literally US citizens don't want to do the work.
      Google is your friend. Talk to some people that have migrated from one country to another and you may have your knowledge expanded.
