To answer your question, it’s been going on for a very long time. The first SCP ever written was SCP 173 The Sculpture which was first published on 4Chan back in 2007. It was mean to be a simple creepypasta, but other writers tried to make their own versions using the format used. Thus the SCP Foundation and everything about it was born.
It's always crazy how something can be built from nothing like that, one guy has an idea works on it and it inspires others, who then inspire others until they start working together and form a group who work on merging the ideas together and forming a new mythos slowly then steadily.
SCP-049 is also rumored to have originated from, or atleast have a connection to the Hanged King. He and SCP-035 do apparently know eachother from previous encounters, though they are far from friendly.
Don't know if you've reacted to it yet, but since they mentioned him in this video, I'd recommend the Exploring Series video on The Scarlet King. He's another eldritch horror on the level as the hanged king, or very possibly greater. He also has some lovecraft influence to him. There's also a few connections, maybe, between him a few well known SCP's
sometimes i realize i'm in a dream, but can't really control it. its like im not even fazed by the nightmare in front of me cause it isn't real, but at the same time cant make it go away. I usually just try to pass the time until i wake up lol
Great video and a good understanding of it. You should definitely check out SCP-1000 and SCP-4000 if you want some more, fantasy-esque concepts that will be important later for a few other entries, namely SCP-4812 and the entire PARAGON series...
If you've got the time, SCP: Overlord and SCP: Dollhouse on Evan Royalty's channel and 096 on MrKlay's channel are three excellent SCP short films with really high production quality and are faithful to details present in the SCP world. They are all quite long, though, and I recommend setting aside a decent chunk of time if you plan to react to them!
From where I sit, it seems that the man who would be the Hanged King was in the process of enacting various dark rituals and workings in order to elevate himself to the level of a god. Unfortunately, his efforts were interrupted by the revolt and he was forced to enact his final sacrifice early. This resulted in an unfinished divinity, something with the shape of a god, but nothing further.
This is one of the most powerful SCP in the innerverse (I’m not gonna explain the innerverse and outerverse right now tho). It’s around the same level as Mekhane and Yaldabaoth.
Since he was briefly mentioned, SCP-507 is another interesting one that you could check out. TheVolgun's video is an hour long though so maybe you'd prefer The Exploring Series' video. Your choice.
I would recommend watching the exploring series video on the wandsmen as it gives more insight into what they are. Be, warned, it is a long one, 52 minutes long.

Thank god because creepypastas were getting extremely lame. I’m glad the SCP universe was created cause of that.

Love the hanged king. "With this, our blood, it is the hanged king's" gives me chills every time.

Right off the bat, a strung kingly mummy with a perched crow on its hand.
The hanged king is one of my favorites. Also the one the volgun dropped today is very weird but interesting
Straight away, certain internet users would call that a sexy man pose. A brief, battlefield meme.
Actually one of the newest Exploring Series Videos is about the Wandsmen.

So much *PAIN* in the name of becoming a perpetual.

This SCP inspired a character I made for a potential Final Fantasy game.
Another scp you might want to check out is SCP 131, the eye pods
Also if you have heard of SCP secret files, I believe it recently came out but it has the Hanged King scp involved in part of the game.

The volgun videos have all the info, but they are so darn boring you don't feel like watching them.
The wandsmen are very interesting, he had a video all on them

Cool another scp
React to lord Blackwood in the land of the unclean, it’s a great scp tale that doesn’t take any prior knowledge
To be fair, one should be aware of SCP-093 for that one, but that doesn't take a lot of time.
@@avsbes98 it’s completely explained through the story so it’s ok
Wait he didn't say that any door one goes through returns you from Allagada back to home dimention
