Samwise has been very efficient and effective. Sammy D is a breath of fresh air for Vikings fans! I personally think KOC is the best head coach we've had since Dennis Green. Our defense is tight. I'm as optimistic as I was during Favre's first season.
Good analysis. Darnold was a first-round pick and Purdy Mr. Irrelevant for valid reasons. The talent with Darnold is just there, radiating from him. Playing backup to Purdy in San Francisco, Darnold took note of the preparation the starting quarterback put into each game, and learned from him. When a first-rounder is humble enough to take notes from a seventh-rounder, the result is what you see. Sam Darnold is now modeling his prep work after Brock Purdy, and the results are almost blinding. All Darnold needs to do is not let this success get to his head and the sky may very well be the limit
I have this theory that the reason that Darnold is clicking so well with the Vikings is because Kevin O Connell had his own tumultuous career as a QB in the NFL and so he sees a lot of himself in Sam and so he really wants to do what he can to develop him properly and give him every chance he can to succeed.
I would agree with you but a one year deal does not make sense in that hypothesis. I do think you're right in the sense that KOC sees some unrealised potential in him but didn't know for sure. I think his thought process was when JJ was healthy was to scour the league for an experienced but still relatively young QB on a short term deal so JJ could sit out the year and learn gradually instead of being thrown in at the deep end immediately and if Darnold didn't work out he would switch him in mid to late season. When he got injured and was out for the year Sam has really taken his chance, is playing with a chip on his shoulder like he wants to be the Vikings permanent starter and if we keep winning with him he will probably get his wish but still have a lot of competition when JJ is healthy which can only be good for the Vikings
@A-small-amount-of-peas oh yeah, that chip on the shoulder is definitely a big part of it, too. He wants it, and KOC wants him to have what he couldn't have. Even if they can't keep him long term, I still think KOC really wants to do what he can to help him start a new phase of his career.
Sam also had a bad supporting cast during the beginning of his career with the Jets. Having Adam Gase as a coach will make any QB look bad. I always thought Sam had potential to be great. I'm glad he's getting that opportunity with Minnesota, the same way Geno Smith is getting with Seattle.
The play that JJ lines up in the backfield, you should show them break from the huddle. They line up very quickly which has the defense very confused when they see him lined up next to darnold. The ball is snapped before the Texans can communicate their assignments
Sam got the ball out within 3 seconds on most the plays, I love that he is releasing it fast and accurately. Teams got to start jamming our receivers, otherwise Sam going to carve them up
I'm a long time Vikes fan, but I doubt they are going to "Destroy" GreenBay in Lambeau. I have full confidence that if they play the way they have been playing both on O and D, they can no doubt win the game. However, they have not been tested seriously by being behind yet. They were only behind by 3 points, one time, against the Giants. Other than that they have been playing with a lead. My only concern is if the defense can hold up against a very good running game, as they have shown they can be run on up the middle. If this game is a loss, it will be: 1) Because GreenBay successfully ran it down their throats 2) And/or they were forced into turnovers that turned into easy GB points.
@@paulschooping5421 I am in agreement with you concerning having some healthy skepticism. Before we start chanting Darnold for MVP, let's see how he handles himself when the deck is not stacked in his favor. Can he lead a 4th quarter game winning drive? Can he make a 14 point comeback? I believe he can, but time will tell
It IS strong, but it's not a "cannon". I think the fact that he is seeming to be "seeing" the options very quickly and releasing the ball very quickly and accurately (so far) is the most encouraging thing. He really seems to be seeing the field well and making fast decisions.
Bottom line you are incorrect/badly mistaken. He's still accomplished WAY MORE than Darnold in his career, and his numbers as a passer over the LONG haul are still in a Top 10, Top 15 category, and he literally carried this team in 2022 with a record number of 4th quarter game-winning drives. Let's wait to see if Darnold can deliver even ONE game winning drive. Cousins has 29 in his career (8 in 2022 with a PUTRID defense) and Darnold has 4 in his career, and none with the Vikings.
Great work sir! You make it clear the Vikings offense is set up for success and to make a run this year.
ELITE BALL PLACEMENT
Enjoyed your breakdown, thanks & skol!

Week after week you do a marvelous job breaking these down. Thank you for your insight!
The Purple Haze defense is real.

Dude this is very helpful for all fantasy football players

We will Dominate & Destroy GB in Lambeau
It’s gonna be a great game. I see a close one. GB is a tough place to play.
We hope. LaFleur is not to be underestimated, seeing as he had Malik WIllis looking all-pro last week

@@paulschooping5421 that sideline pass to Speedy got there incredible fast. The ball to JJ down the middle. He can easily make any NFL throw.
No reason to lose to any team blaa!aa
Bottom line…….Kirk Cousins sucked/sucks.
