The obsession with youth and beauty is a mental illness. No matter what you do, we're all going to get old and die. I would rather age gracefully and enjoy life to the fullest before worrying about what others think of me physically.
The issue of healthcare supply in Korea is not something that should be viewed solely from doctors’ perspectives. They claim they work tens of hours a week for meager wages, as though they are being severely overworked. However, medical fields such as doctors, dentists, veterinarians, and pharmacists are among the most popular career paths in Korea. The country maintains an admissions system where universities and majors are determined by a single exam, and those who score highest enroll in medical schools first. Only after all medical schools and other medical-related majors across the country have filled their quotas do applicants begin to consider engineering schools. In other words, Korea’s top talents invariably head to medical school. It even makes the news if a high-scoring student chooses not to pursue medicine. The reason behind this phenomenon is that doctors in Korea earn about ten times as much as the average office worker. Korea has grown through the hands of outstanding engineers at companies like Samsung and Hyundai, but increasingly, talented individuals are flocking to medical schools, causing Korea’s businesses to lose international competitiveness. The annual increase of one to two thousand medical school admissions was implemented in this context. There are currently about 160,000 doctors in Korea. Yet, they have rejected even the slightest increase in competition that might result from adding just one to two thousand more doctors each year, hindering the nation’s progress with a collective strike that has lasted for over a year.
Point is that everyone knows that there's shortage of doctors in major fields, and also doctors keep complaining about their work loads. However, doctors don't want increase of the number of doctors due to their profitabilty. What a contradiction!
The problem is that merely increasing doctors without incentivising them to work in other fields won't work because those fields don't pay enough. Meaning new doctors will just flock to the high paying fields and creating more competion there without solving the shortage problem of the other fields. And that's just one of the issues. It's a messy problem and neither side is completely in the right.

I went to Seoul once for work. I wanted to bring back a few face masks as gifts for family members. Although there are so many face mask options, I didn’t realize just how hard it was going to be to find masks or skin care products without BLEACHING products in them! The obsession with being white is insane! 😢
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 says who? european and american cosmetics are still leading, and to be honest even japanese cosmetic products are actually better quality, they just don't get the same exposure that k-pop brings to korean cosmetics. in short korean cosmetics are only popular to koreaboos who love k-pop and k-drama. while most will still buy western cosmetics, but to those who want more cost-effective cosmetics, japanese cosmetics reign supreme

If the west fails to control real estate price, you’d face the similar decline in marriage and birth rates.

I'd never known about how prevalent plastic surgery was until I traveled to Seoul, they were everywhere! Next to movie theatres, in most malls, etc

healthcare just has nothing to do with cosmetic skincare
Very insightful
and people wonder why everyone there is so depressed... smh.
The excessive plastic surgery starts to make them look unnatural and scary, then they end up aging faster.
Ironic isn't it?
They don’t think about long term, just immediate results
Say no to plastic
I go to North Korea for my cosmetic procedures, it's even cheaper.

So sad.
W3stern superficiality taken to the next level.
Except that it's Korean beauty standards, set by Korean expectations, usually lead by the k-pop industry.
This country is so messed up. The Republic of Samsung, rich families "chaebol" having power over the government, and the excessive chase on beauty
