@@PaintSociety nice vid! Brian, why you didn't blend the bumper? and another question: what happened to the door? have you sanded it with 600-800 as the hood, but just did't show in the video?
Brian, Props to you. As a DIY'er I have often struggled with the concept of blending. This video made it truly understandable for the first time! You are not only an excellent artist with paint -- you are also an exceptional teacher. Thank you.
Paint Society Indeed, but what I wanted to say is that you explain everything with such detail as him, I watch every video you post and I love them! Keep up the good work man💪
Very informative. My drivers door has to go in to be painted and was told blending on the rear door and front quarter panel will be needed. Now I got a good idea about the process. Thanks.
Something i would like to see you cover is what happens when a car is damaged and its has had ceramic coating applied. love you channel ,so informative .
The blend did help. Difference in colors are still very visible. Now the front door is different from the back and really off on the bumper typically bumpers are different shade all because plastic. The the sun light hit the car at end is bright once it get real light it’s be more visible. For a D.I.Y would be acceptable.
Nice! Great explanation of each of the steps and why they are necessary! I can't believe how many different shades there are of the same exact paint code! Thanks for taking the time to shoot and edit this video so that it's something everyone can learn from.
Really helpful videos man, thanks and keep it up. I paint cars but l'm a student still. I wached your videos from Mexico This is my favorite youtube chanel for learn how to paint 👍
I think one of the best bits of info and instruction you give in your vids is which grits to use and when for sanding, I believe it's one of the fatal mistakes novice painters make is using too course grit thinking it cuts quicker, not realising it also leaves deeper scoring to fill.
AkzoNobel should support your channel, it’s way more educative than the videos that they upload. Excellent job, thank you for your work I’ve learned a lot!
Thank you thank you thank you, for continuing to improve each video and show us all the tips. Next time I’m in the booth I’m going to try to use the blending agent between coats , to my mentor it’s taboo to use in between coats
You do a great job, pretty clear explanation I hope would be younger to apply all the new learning, just and old retired painter but I still living this job
Another outstanding video, you are more professional than a lot of the teachers at most technical institutes that people can learn autobody and paint. The way you explain these steps is simply way to easy. I have a good friend that does custom painting there in Penbroke Pines. He was in need for someone to clear coat the artwork that he paints on motorcycles mainly. I wonder if you would be interested on doing something like that.
Excellent video as always. I would really be interested in a video on how you repair rock chips, and other blemishes, short of repainting the entire hood or bumper.
I've had this problem aswell. In my case case I sprayed a light grey sealer underneath a dark grey metallic. Same situation as urs where mine painted pannels turned lighter than the rest of the car. I blended and another tip I got was to use the same color but with a darker sealer. And its was a really good match. So I guess in ur case a darker color sealer would have been good and u wouldn't have had to do a second time.
That’s a damn good job bro! Awesome blend and great technique. When I have chips on a blend I use a ez-dabber and do some touch ups before clearing. Just so it don’t look so bad.
Hell the insurance companies in my area fight all day long about no blending. Nothing but BS. They would only pay to do the door, not the hood.... It sucks. But great video Sir!!
@Paint Society quick question Brian, why did you paint the fender including with clear before putting on the car? I think to have closer grade of substrate, but also to use less base coat at the time of blending so as to help avoid runs?
Hey Brian, silly question, could you tell us more about why you paint/don't paint the bumper on the car? Wouldn't the blend be more seamless if the new paint extended to as much edges as possible? Love your videos!
In order to warrantee the bumper and to get paint on all edges even the bottom it must be taken off and disassembled. The bumper was painted with the same exact paint that we used on the car and matches just fine
me and a buddy decided were gonna setup a diy paint booth and try to paint our cars in it. is there a gun(s) you would recommend for like a one time diy project for a couple cars.
Question: strictly about blending agent, not color. when you do the blending agent on the first time you completely cover the adjacent panels. When you are doing the wet bed with the agent, do you go to the opposite edge with it or stop in the middle.
Brian... I'm having a little difficulty understanding what exactly sealer is... Could you tell me what it is, and add some links as to what you are using for a "sealer"??
Great video Brian like to see how good blending happens and you’re absolutely correct I did a BMW and there was six different whites for it it mattered where the car was painted where the paint came from and what country the car was painted . Great work great video great descriptions and detail 😊
Is blending mixing two colors of wet paint before you spray? Or spraying with light coverage so that the original color shows through to varying degrees, creating a color intermediate between the old color and the new?
How did you get 4 different shades did you play with the toners to get the right match because I have to do a blend on my car an I don't have a mixing bank I'm just going to the paint store with color code.
Great info Some people do not realize amount of work painters go through. Did the Dv1 di its .job ez or quickly or it depends on the painter.but i want you view on this gun

Brian your the man...I didn't match up right a summit White color now it looks creamy white instead of white and a hard edge line.... what can I do to fix it .. would gladly appreciate it if can shoot me some tip.thanks video was great
How do you get rid of the hard line, on the A pillar, where its masked off. Either overspray would be there or the new clear vs the old clear? Wet sand and buff? Chemical blend? Thanks
@@PaintSociety Thanks, The whole A pillar seemed like it was completely wet sanded down., so assumed you would have to clear right up to the tape (aka where it was wet sanded to). Thanks
Thanks for all the help! Been watching your videos getting ready to start practicing on an old pickup. Do you have a suggestion for good an all around beginners DA sander?
I plan on doing a paint job on some panels of my car at home (DIY). I don't have the equipment for mixing the paint to get the exact match. Would getting paint that has the car's paint code be acceptable or should I not paint due to possibility of having a different variant of paint that could be off? No, if the black is darker it usually means there's not enough white or other toner that's used in the formula to dull it.
