I've been singing most of the last 40 years (since high school) and I am so lucky to have been in choirs singing gorgeous gorgeous music. This is the most moving of all the hundreds of works I have sung. Being a part of a choir is a blessing in and of itself and performing this work was transcendent. "Turn your silvered sail..." choked me up every time.
This is the best performance of The Sacred Veil recorded. Utterly deserving of a Grammy, should the Bob Cole Chamber Choir ever record it.
Devastatingly Stunning xxx
a lovely, lovely performance, and by adding the lyrics, I can actually practice with it. Thank you for posting this gorgeous performance! Bravo!
Goosebumps! One of my choirs performed this piece, and it was not only audily stunning, but it was visually stunning as well. I could truly feel Whitaker’s emotions in each part of the song.
visually stunning?
Thank you composers, instrumentalists, voices and those who produced and posted this paean.
Ich bin sehr angetan von der gesanglichen Qualität des Chores. Dieses Gesamtkunstwerk geht zu Herzen, es ist einfach alles wundervoll. Mehr davon, bitte!
Thank you for sharing this. I heard it performed at the Disney Concert Hall and really enjoyed it. I appreciate being able to listen it again. The choir is exceptional.
For anyone who has lost a loved one to cancer or from any cause this could be part of the grieving/healing process
#6. "I'm Afraid", is so unnerving, especially with the way Eric structures the chords and chaotic rhythms. It induces panic and unease, which I can imagine is a common thought for those who have discovered they have developed cancer.
its my favourite!
Fantastic performance. Absolutely love it. Eric Whitacre you are a superstar. You are making classical music more 'understandable' for the youth. Bravo♥️
Some might think there is interruption at 51:40, but I hear it as the world going on around Tony as he sinks into greif. Medical staff fluttering in the halls, machines and phones. Life continuing for everyone but him. Haunting.
Toujours aussi magique , la musique d'Eric Whitacre's ! ! ! !
My fridge loves magnetic poetry.
Beautiful, deeply moving music. Thank you Eric and performers for sharing.
This is what I've been looking for. Thank you 😊
