Hi Cris, A malfunction on my last comment. It had missing bits. This one is better to pin. I do enjoy your channel and your videos. The blue indicator mineral is azurite Cu3(CO3)2(OH)2 It is a copper carbonate mineral and like another variant, malachite Cu2CO3(OH)2 is green in colour. The mineralised habits (crystal forms) of both of these from gossan zones can be quite spectacular. I hope this helps. Cheers.
For some reason I am always super excited for these ore crushing videos. They may not be as adventurous and may not have as much natural beauty as your videos on the creeks but they are still super fun to watch.
I swear, if I was in Australia I would build you the biggest Rock crushing unit you've ever seen, for nothing! Another great video! Fern smacking that rock with her paw was awesome.

I once heard that old timers would put the quartz in the fire then quenched the hot quartz in cold water , the stone then gets very brittle and break real easy . That could make a good video too ! cheers.
Lovely to see what the old timers were on to! Fern was making sure the rock had the boxer seal of approval. Chris, since amethyst and citrine are types of quartz, have you ever looked for some alternative sparkly bits in the hard rock areas? A friend of mine supplements her income making jewelry out of semi-precious stones she finds, which she insists have more character than "boring old diamonds." (I agree with her.) Victoria Australia is such a treasure trove: citrines, sapphires, topaz, tourmaline, rock crystal, even some opals, I hear. A channel I used to watch (but neglected to subscribe to, now I can't remember the name) there was a fellow in your state who would go out and find gems and facet them. Gave my cat a scratch behind the ears, since he thinks he's a dog. Cheers.
Started with Dad's Reef and video ended with Dog Dad's Relief, a tired out and snoozing pupper, nicely into a circle and a fantastic result, can't wait to see more from there.
Hey Chris. Keep it up mate love the videos, Next time try an old miners technique with the quartz and its what I do, super heat the quartz like in a fire and drop it into water. The quartz shatters naturally into smaller pieces and its all contained in a bucket
Hi, blue minerals likely azurite which ,I believe is a copper mineral! Your puppy is a trooper or maybe his dad, lol, boxers ran me ragged many years! Miss everyone!
Hi Chris, l live close to Bendigo, and this week l was walking down a track in the bush with the detector and found a small reef in the erosion in the wheel ruts when l put the detector over it it screamed , l have taking about a half bucket of stone home each day and so far 57grams of gold, l back fill the hole each time as l think the area is covered by a mining lease, cheers mate. PS sorry about the rant just had to tell someone.
@@markrouse4514 hi mate, gold is gold and what they can't find is mine, some of the blows of quartz around here have yealded thousands of ounces at a shallow depth, l can't go down much and this is of the top and that's all for me, however it's not going to be easy to find when I'm finished, cheers.
Geez mate if it's under a mining lease (production) you really shouldn't be touching it. Not only could get yourself in alot of trouble but stuff like that ends up giving our damn overbearing government even more excuse to shut us all down! Ps: that does sound like a very rich reef though! (Less you're talking like 100 buckets idk)
Chris, a tip! Whenever you want to crush a Stone: put it in a small fire, like the size of a campfire, for 20 minutes. Let it cool after. The Gold will not melt, but the Stone will be brittle like hard sugar. It will save you hours of hard work when it's time for crushing.
Finding out what a rock has hiding in it is fun. Keep in mind about arsenic pyrite that some reefs hold don't let anything drink the water you pan it in. in our area it has it. Cheers Chris great vid. 🍻👍🍀⛏🇦🇺
I hear you’re meeting up with the Tessie boys in the next couple weeks looking forward to that. Levi looks like a pretty cool dude man. I hope you guys find lots and lots of golden boogers. May it be a snotty day. LOL

Hey Chris, love watching your videos. Not just for great content but Fern is soooo bloody CUTE... The blue mineral is a copper bearing mineral called Azurite. Over thousands of years It can change into Malachite & if conditions are right can change back to Azurite.
Bahaha dang it man.....lol. I love your videos and wish I could come to the outback.....! But I'm not fortune enough so I'll keep going in my 1/4 of a states' gold accumulation. Love the vids!!!
This is basically what I would do, my 1 acre place is (still) loaded with quartz boulders. When I first started, I was destroying anything iron I used (since quartz has a mohs hardness of 7) so I simply ended up smashing 2 boulders into each other. I found the pure white rocks were the best to use as hammers since the red is iron staining so those red rocks had a lot more fault lines in them - it was bloody hard going tho.
Did someone say cookies? So couple other youtubers from tazzy just put up a vid with a cool tip on crushing quartz they heated it up a bit which opened up the cracks. Is that a rusty beta pan? is it gone or can you season it like a cast iron pot and get it back to its former glory?

The way I pop open that stuff is I'll wrap the chunk in in a piece of burlap sack put that inside of a pillow slip use my heavy duty bench vise with a cheater bar and you'll be able to pop those open without losing any of the little pieces super easy
Very nice, now I have a better idea on what to bring home and crush, have a bunch waiting, need to get a jaw crusher next. Like how it's kinda portable.

Dude!! Do a day just digging the hillside !!! Take a magnet to find the spots that carry more magnetite 👀 im sure you already knew that.. and I realize you might have to pack out water, if I wasn't in USA I could come by and be a water mule for a day 🤣
Lol when covid ends I coukd carry water and a refillable misting bottle and give a good misting every 100ft 😆 jk Can't wait to see a video of it if you do!
Mate just a tip from an ex bricklayer/stonemason get some sand and put it on the grass and put the stone on the sand and you wont get that bounce from that cardboard.
Chisels flex when you strike them and vibrate. The shorter the chisel, the more efficient your efforts will be. It’s best to use one whose length is just greater than the width of your hand.

When crushing rocks. I smash them up with a hammer and the dolly port, then I use a cheap blender( I got from the op shop) turns it to powder fast.
