First of all, I'm glad that you're uploading a video at all.
Second, I'm even more enthusiastic about the videos were you're speaking your own opinions, even if they're not about "soccer".
Third, I've been trying to catch you live to suggest that, most of the football youtubers i watch, do some sort of a recap of the games that happened that week, you don't need to watch every single game, just pick an important match to watch (or just the spurs as fan), and watch the highlights of the other games, then say your opinion on the current situation of the league, that's easy to make, always there as content and never gonna be boring.
(you can do the same for the handegg too).

I think that teams that didnt reach playoffs should play in separate playoff like tournament. Winner of that tournament gets 1st draft pick, runner up 2nd pick, etc.

A system that gives an advantage for dropping matches on purpose is insanly stupid.....and plainly moraly wrong..

the thing is in football leagues, its not only about relegation, if you are say top 3 or 4, you fight for the league, if you are top 5 to 6 you try to get to the continental tournament (UCL, copa libertadores in south america etc) if you are lower then you either try to keep your spot on the second continental tournament (europa league/copa sudamericana/etc) or try to get your spot in the former, if you are even lower you are fighting to get to that spot in the second continental league, and if you are even lower you are fighting to stay out of relegation zone, so pretty much every team has reasons to try and keep winning

...Didn't the Tottenham fans want their team to lose that one game last season?

Yeah, some fans even wore Man City shirts. Pissed me off…then I got told by tons of Spurs fans that I am not a real fan.
We can’t let Arsenal win the league. 🤦🏻‍♂️

@@lukessportsacademy i understand but bro you wont love it. Arsenal fans are f-ing annoying and loud. do you have a friend or know someone who supports arsenal? I am a Man U fan, I dont like Man city but I hate Arsenal more. I am happy they didn't win. I would rather Man city win than Liverpool and Arsenal, even chelsea. My true rivals.

The problem with tanking is that it doesn't instill a winning culture and the draft pick(s) present a lot of risks and may also influence the ability to sign experienced free agents that have won or want to win immediately. A player in their prime may be unwilling to sign for a team who tanked in the previous and betting on a rookie to bang

As a european Liverpool/NBA-fan(Spurs) I love the draft but hate tanking. Only way I see to destroy tanking would be to do full lottery between all teams that missed the playoffs.

It's not just playing to win, but you play with the intent to win every single match. From the first second of the first match of the season to the final second of the final match of the season.
There is no other mentality/mindset to have. If you are unwilling/unable/incapable of doing so, don't play at all.
    Full stop, end of story.
Tainting your legacy as a player or manager... no thanks.

Hi Luke. Not related with this video, but a suggestion for another short video. What are your thougs about the multiple tournament system that we have in football. Every team in the whole world, have at least two differents tournaments to win something in the year. La copa and La liga. Even more, if the team has access to an international tournament. We all know that the importance of the tournaments is not the same, but allows to multiple teams to have differents objectives. As a new example, I LOVED the in-season tournament that was created in NBA.

I am intrigued by the concept of a draft system as it’s a different concept/idea to sport in the rest of the world. But wanting your team to lose as it “benefits them” is morally wrong for me. Sport is about winning as much as you can. If you consider losing as winning, I don’t know what to say

It's a really weird system if there are ten teams every year who don't have an incentive to win. It also makes it easier for the teams who do want to win to get those W if they play against some of those teams. lt actually messes up the whole competition, in my opinion. l get why they do it like that but needing to suck on purpose this season to improve the next one doesn't make any sense in my head.

    • @philipmcniel4908
      @philipmcniel4908 5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

The thing to understand is the "every year" bit. At the beginning of the year, every team is highly incentivized to win, because they're on (somewhat) equal footing to make the playoffs, and even win the Super Bowl (though the teams that have succeeded in building a winning squad over the course of several years clearly have an advantage). At the beginning of a season, the teams are all thinking, "This is our year!" It's only in the _later_ part of the year that some teams would be better off if they lose.
But the effect of "messing up the competition" is probably a bit limited by the fact that the players on the field are _always_ highly incentivized to win. After all, not only does playing poorly hurt their reputations as players, but if their team gets good draft picks, it's going to use them to _draft their replacement._
The funny thing is, something similar can happen in soccer if you want your national team to lose so that its coach gets fired (which is kind of what happened with the USA under Gregg Berhalter).

I would be ashamed of my team if that happened. Understand how the regulations work....but I would be ashamed. So they get accustomed to lose, and when the game really matters they could care less at the end if they lose. I prefer to be a fan of a bad team that is almost always at the bottom of the table, but that they kill themselves trying to win every single game. That I respect.

That's why sometimes y'all need (at very least) introduced by the concept of promotion relegation. But then, the football ⚽ ecosystem should adapt the salary cap concept to regulate today's wild uncontrolled capitalistic market. Basically a purchase limitations policies. Then the challenge would be how to imply this towards multiple leagues entity from multiple countries

Anyhow, every year we read stories of draft busts, so having a higher pick guarantees nothing, does it?

I disagree with you that pro/rel can't be done in american football. The solution (if it is decided that no new teams are added) is to split the league to a lower and higher divisions, with 2 or 3 teams that replace the division every season.
You can also give a higher draft pick for the lower division champion so they will have an interest to win.
