  • Before I give a description of the video, you may have heard that Acapulco was recently hit with "the strongest hurricane in the Eastern Pacific to make landfall in the satellite era." Nobody saw this coming as "there are no hurricanes on record even close to this intensity for this part of Mexico", so Acapulco was not warned or prepared. This video was filmed before the hurricane hit, but right now there are many residents without homes and electricity trying to get back on their feet. If you're looking for a way to help, here are a couple of links I've found to donate:
    Mexican Red Cross: www.cruzrojame...
    World Central Kitchen:

^ I personally donated to this one
    As for the video:
I paid a visit to Acapulco, a city that was once an international tourist hotspot in the 60s and 70s but has since become a place tourists don't dare to visit.
The moment you leave the airport in Acapulco you're met with beautiful natural scenery of hills and beaches, which was pivotal in attracting investment and tourists from abroad. In fact, Acapulco first got its rise as the trendy place for Hollywood's millionaire stars to party back in the 50s, which eventually led to it becoming more popular among the general population.
Unfortunately, over the decades, drug-trafficking has fueled violence to levels which have led to countries warning their citizens to not visit Acapulco. Fast forward to the present day, and Acapulco's reputation has dwindled down to the exact opposite of what it once was.
