I just watched " The Innocents " 1961, i haven't seen it in a long while...those costumes are just amazing, Deborah Kerr ' s dress is like a living entity , her nightgown is fantastic, the children ' s uniforms, the two pitch black dresses work by the ghost... powerful !
One design feature of Ash's costume that always stood out to me is he wears a short sleeve blue shirt over a long sleeve white under shirt, so the long white sleeves stand out. It's quite visually striking, and struck me as unusual.

IIRC, Ripley's white helmet was Lamberts', repainted. And you see those crazy RAF air cooled flight suits with the white pipettes everywhere. The Mos Eisley Cantina in A New Hope, the Blakes 7 episode City at the Edge of the World, Kate Bush' music video for The Dreaming, the old SF movie Lorca And The Outlaws...
@@Costume_CO De nada, I love finding out about old SF movie props and costumes. Alien in particular had so much worldbuilding behind it, all the patches from previous missions, and politics implied by the national flags...

@@Costume_CO My uncle, John Birkinshaw, was a costume dresser on Alien, I was too young to see the film at the time, but he sent me and my brother a batch of the patches form the cast's suits. I had no context to understand what I had and kept the patches in my Lego box. I gave my Lego box away when I was about 14 and sadly the patches with it. It really wasn't until I saw Alien again a few years ago that I realised what i'd lost
@@jeanettecameron7530 I believe the jackets that Dallas and Kane wore were developed from RAF mark III cold weather jackets, with the lacing and the pink piping added etc. they are available on eBay (Not very cheap) and mostly green. The originals were blue grey as that was the standard in the 70s. hope that helps Steve
Hi rik, I had no idea either. It's possible that the colours have faded over time, but they didn't look like the punchy primary colours in Moebius's concepts but more pastel. Added to this is the lighting likely flattened the colour even more.
@@Costume_CO it also didn’t help that the suits mostly appear onscreen, when the three are on the dark surface of the moon or the dimly lit derelict :)

I would have pointed that out, but Brett is also wearing a "Henley" under his Hawaain shirt as well. But he definitely stands out against the rest.
