This is unrelated, but a few weeks back, I ran on a not so busy road, in order to save a small painted turtle, and after putting on the side that it was crawling towards, I got back in my bike. A few seconds later, this dude stops by my side in his truck and gives me a thumbs up, with no audible response. Afterwards, I was just like, fuck yeeaah, saving turtles. Looking cool while doing it. Such a simple gesture, with so much power.

Edit: the turtle (aka tortoise) is fine, and they did very well to move it from the road into a pond.
This breed is a yellow bellied slider; I have owned one as a pet for the past 8 years. The large aquarium I have is just that, an aquatic environment, with only a relatively small ‘basking pad’. The girl in the video is probably 14-18 years old.
If you’re concerned about the identification, they tend to lose their clearly identifying front 2 dark dots as they get older (or just how the individual turtle is patterned/colored, which has surprising variety within its breed). They spend a majority of their lives in the water and are surprisingly agile swimmers.
The pond that they placed the big gal in was likely very close to where they found her.

@@deathwishcontribute lol thanks for clarifying. Yes, most all turtles swim, even that big guy in the video. Some turtle breeds spend most of their lives in the water.
@@deathwishcontribute That one didn't look to have webbed feet which means it would have a difficult time swimming (even though yes, they technically can swim) It would eventually get tired and as not being a water species it can't hold its breath as long as most and will slowly sink. Also looking at how steep the slope was at the edge of the river, it would have a hard time getting out of the water onto land...
